Beautiful Song from a Beautiful Man with a beautiful soul! George sang from the heart, he made music to the tune of peace and love. It flowed from within him to our ears and then to our hearts like a peaceful river stream. Peace and Love to all! 💗
The suits at Warner Bros. dropped "Lay His Head" and 3 other songs is a perfect example the suits don't have a clue what is good music. No wonder George became disenchanted with the music industry.
Anther George song that is under-rated, most people have probably never even heard the, but he's bearing his heart and soul again , Bravo, George! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💜💜💜🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I know that I seem strange to you sometimes And who is it in here, you have often thought But what can I tell you That you don't know already? Yes, even the times like this Will roll away But I love you (I love you) I love you (I love you) That's all that I ever really wanted I know that it will work out all the same And whoever it is in here can overcome the pain A true friend's shoulder to lean on I'll make it through And over and over I feel for you But I love you (I love you) I love you (I love you) That's all that I ever really wanted Oh yeah, you know that sometimes a man He has nowhere to lay his head But what can I tell you That you don't know already? Yes, even the worst time like this Will blow away But I love you (I love you) I love you (I love you) That's all that I ever really wanted Oh yeah, you know that sometimes a man He has nowhere to lay his head, nowhere, I said nowhere Nowhere to lay his head Oh what can I tell you That you don't know already
as a kid I would put this song on as I got into bed...it was the b side of the single I bought Got my mind set on you...fell asleep to this so many times...
Oh, yeah. They dropped it because it might've lifted the level of the LP. :) Seriously it's a good song, and the lyrics are...oh so good! Anybody could dedicate them to a woman/man. To reassure her/him about our true feelings even though there may be times when we are weird, or act badly. I think here George is asking Olivia to forgive him, possiibly about an occasional cheating. "But you know that sometimes a man/He has nowhere to lay his head". Few people could write lyrics so personal/universal, sincere and timeless as George. We owe him that much!
Thanks for posting this, Mick. I live in hope that this and other scarce or unreleased George songs will get a proper release. Having bought both official box sets I do feel a little cheated!
This was belatedly released as the B-side of Got My Mind Set On You but is still unreleased on CD . All four of the songs rejected by Warner are great . So are all of the other George songs from this underappreciated period .
What a song this is! I reckon this could have made a Wilbury album because it was a quality track with a pedigree background studio team. Jeff?- where were you!
+The5quirel this was originally intended for the 'Somewhere in England' album in 1980/81 but was one of four tracks Warner Brothers (Dark Horse records parent company) asked to be removed as they felt they were not commercial enough (my self and others feel that the four tracks are the best! - they include Flying Hour, Sat Singing and Tears of the world)
I don't think so, or we would have seen it by now. This and Sat Singing were meant to be released, but the studio told George they weren't what people were buying and that he had to change the album. I don't think George had much other completed stuff that he thought was really good. It's been over 20 years. I think Dhani and Olivia would have put it out if it was there.
How come George never finished a lot of his great songs as well , heard Walruz finish them they’re better than the released ones on all things must pass
This is the 'B' side of the 'got my mind set on you' 45 rpm when it was released in 1987. It may also have been on the cassette' single too. I consider this the 2nd version. the 'original' version is still unreleased.
Джордж всегда был искренним и естественным - это главное. В любом случае Джордж вызывал уважение и находил сердечный о отклик в наших сердцах... Дорогой Джордж, мы помним и любим тебя... Светлая память... :'-(
Zach, this song goes back to the day that George was recording "Somewhere in England". From the original album, four songs were dropped and replaced, "Lay His Head" is one of those dropped, and only released in a new mix in 1987
I've idolized George for 50 years which is as long as I've been playing. Sorry guys, it's a good song , but it's a filler. It has appeal to us simply, because we are atune to George. This song isn't commercial enough to be a single. Take a song like Life Itself. Most if my musician friends can't believe the guitars communicating with each other and the magnificent and gorgeous lyrics. Some of us think that's the best song that he composed. It simply wasn't ever going to be a comerial success
I have all of George's albums, but heard this for the first time today (9-2024) on
Sirius. Really nice.
This was the first time for me hearing "Lay His Head". It is beautiful ❤️.
He’s gone but he left us a lifetime of beautiful music.
Beautiful Song from a Beautiful Man with a beautiful soul! George sang from the heart, he made music to the tune of peace and love. It flowed from within him to our ears and then to our hearts like a peaceful river stream. Peace and Love to all! 💗
You said it perfectly...
The first time I’ve ever heard this tune. Absolutely beautiful.
Me too, Jon - what a discovery all these years later!
Yes indeed ❤️
The suits at Warner Bros. dropped "Lay His Head" and 3 other songs is a perfect example the suits don't have a clue what is good music. No wonder George became disenchanted with the music industry.
Lovely photos to go with this song
I just love the way this song builds up to a gentle crescendo
One of his best songs.
Anther George song that is under-rated, most people have probably never even heard the, but he's bearing his heart and soul again , Bravo, George! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💜💜💜🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
It certainly deserved its own release. I wonder if any radio stations gave it play.
@@MrJoeybabe25 nope
One of my favourite songs ...George was a great songwriter...Happy birthday sweet George!
George was very correct……”the answer is at the end”! His music is captivating but I still miss his heart!
George, unforgettable Genius!!!
George Harrison really is pure love.
Well said ❤️
Spectacular song. Why on earth would they request this to be removed?
Warner Bros' vetoed this song for the album 'Somewhere in England.' What does Warner Bros. know about music? Screw them.
David Armes I am so fucking mad at them about that.
Tony DiMeo
LOL !
I think Elmer Fudd is in charge of the music departament...
Ok, I'm sorry to be the devil's advocate but this tracks are great, yes, I agree too, but they sound just like what George has done in the 70s.
@@mcrp_ Yes you might have a point
i hate WB execs for cutting george's wonderful songs out of somewhere in england
I know that I seem strange to you sometimes
And who is it in here, you have often thought
But what can I tell you
That you don't know already?
Yes, even the times like this
Will roll away
But I love you (I love you)
I love you (I love you)
That's all that I ever really wanted
I know that it will work out all the same
And whoever it is in here can overcome the pain
A true friend's shoulder to lean on
I'll make it through
And over and over
I feel for you
But I love you (I love you)
I love you (I love you)
That's all that I ever really wanted
Oh yeah, you know that sometimes a man
He has nowhere to lay his head
But what can I tell you
That you don't know already?
Yes, even the worst time like this
Will blow away
But I love you (I love you)
I love you (I love you)
That's all that I ever really wanted
Oh yeah, you know that sometimes a man
He has nowhere to lay his head, nowhere, I said nowhere
Nowhere to lay his head

Merci pour lui

Thanks Mick,
I love George...
So beautiful,so melodic!! LOve you George!
Extremely underrated! I love it from the first moment I ever heard it!
Sublime slide guitar, as usual!
Terry Tomlin : Right. That guitar...directely touch anyone's heart.
as a kid I would put this song on as I got into bed...it was the b side of the single I bought Got my mind set on you...fell asleep to this so many times...
Warner bros opted to act like John and Paul from the Beatles era. That's why George refused to extend his contract with them...
great song with great pictures
lovely video for a beautiful heartfelt song. Loved it since 1987 when another version was used as b side to 'Got my mind set on you'
beautiful song!!!
Oh, yeah. They dropped it because it might've lifted the level of the LP. :)

+James Percival hopefully one day!
We also do not know what legal issues there are as well
Lovely song.
At 3.13 when the guitar goes up higher - one of the most beautiful parts of one of the most beautiful songs I know.
I love the photos of George chanting japa.
This was belatedly released as the B-side of Got My Mind Set On You but is still unreleased on CD . All four of the songs rejected by Warner are great . So are all of the other George songs from this underappreciated period .
Thank you so much!
Love and Peace!
Marvellous montage. Thank you❤
Perdon por el portuñol, soy brasileiro, pero deja me decir una cosa: no lo supere, hay sentimientos que son eternos, como la musica de George Harrison
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SONG!

George nos dejo sus maravillosas canciones.
No dejo de disfrutar de ellas.
George must have an entire album of unreleased coolage.
Gordon Darr - and beautiful demos
Yep
Maybe Dhani and Olivia will release more of George's material. I hope so, I really do.
Absolutely!

Gracias George por tanto ❤️
REally good song.
Como me encantan estos sonidos de esta canción. Buen compositor y cantor fue George.
Tan suave y dulce
What a wonderful song from a excelente soul
Wonderful B-Side

Super, jamais entendu mais rien que sa voiture sa guitare qui parle comme d'habitude magic George
Love and Peace ! And many thanks for your comment
*soulfoodie1 Just remarking on how light and airy this track seems to be (to me) This would be a lovely ending track to almost any album
Thought a B side, it could possibly been an A side. One of my favorites
''Warner Bros Sucks'' (Frank Zappa's T-Shirt)
My favorite non album song from George. What were those idiots thinking for dropping such a great song!
Comme d'habitude sa voix sa guitare comme m'a dis ma fille qui n'avait que 6 ans elle parle
George tu ns manque tellement
Also rare lost song from 1986 from his 1987 album cloud 9
My fave song for years.... Where can I find a copy?
B side to got my mind set on you single
George Forever
eu adoro esta musica da minha vida
Espectacular
Cracking tune
This was the B-side to 1987's 'Got My Mind Set On You'. I am under no illusions to which is the better song!

But his fans forever will....(I.personally.kmow of one since he was/oh say about 12? 🙏)
Thanks to stupid Warner Bros. George wrote and recorded more lovely songs !!!!
To clarify, George dropped the 4 songs. Not Warner brothers. WB just said to write more commercial songs

George devia ter mandado os Diretores da Warner à merda.
Los mandó!
Melissa, as far as I know, at this moment, this song is out of print... Sorry

George the old soul Indian sage incarnated into an English body to find Krishna again
He was wonderful and full of mysteries indeed!!!!
Missing George inner Light 🕉
I'm sure you're still chanting Hare Krishna.

Amazing song , the record company Suits are dumb , had no idea
8 people want the blood from a clone
Hey, Earl Wilbury, here.
