I fell in love with tiny houses... when they were affordable. But they've skyrocketed in price so I turned my attention to mobile trailers. They are more mobile and I can be free to move around as I like.
Old post I know but it's relative... tiny homes are still cheap yes manufactured tiny homes are getting higher but they are still a good deal cheaper than a stick and brick house.. Unless you wanna buy a serious rehab house that needs to be condemned. mobile trailers are a good option too but.. not weather friendly you'll have to constantly move to avoid cold weather. Always the old addage you get what you pay for. That and the tiny house movement is a bit misleading.. you see people say "oh I did this for 20000" yeah.. if they have the tools and connections or know how to build your own. Those that say they got theirs dirt cheap had a lotta privilege to do that. Depending on where you live 20000 will barely cover permiting.
Oh no, I’m not for tiny houses on foundations. I’m from Louisiana, and there’s a reason the codes were written to require more square footage. Look up shotgun houses and even tinier. Poor families were crowded into these homes for generations. Not great living circumstances. That’s why there are codes. And I’d love a THOW someday, but on wheels!
