i understand people have things going on, believe me i do. i was a professional cleaner for years. but i’ve never done any this terrible. you do these amazing free cleanings and they just let it all get disgusting again. there’s people who can’t clean and there’s those who are plain lazy. i hope this is a situation where this isn’t laziness.

Barbie, you can't make something look new if it isn't new. I learned that the hard way, because I was a cleaner before I retired. So I know exactly what you are going through with some of these homes. You do an excellent job.I learned the hard way to not be hard on myself, so you don't be hard on yourself. We care too much!!
Anyone who cleans know how hard it can be. People who have new homes CANNOT UNDERSTAND its not going to look perfect.

You can’t clean a crack or a scratch, or super deep stains, or super aged plastic. Some things need to be replaced and painted or otherwise restored. Not in a cleaners’ wheel house. She did an amazing job.
Hello Barbie, you are cleaning for people who are struggling to bring their homes back to a more livable and hygienic standard. It's obvious you do this for more than money, and you do a great job. You are not there to do repairs (unless you feel it's something simple you can and want to do). I really enjoy your videos and your common sense. Please never feel pressure to expose your personal life unless you want to in ways that are relevant to what you are doing now. You are a lovely young lady and I wish you all the best.
My apartment is in a very old building, it is very hard to clean. Even when I clean it doesn't look like I cleaned it. You did a very good job Barbie!
The low rent apartments in nyc are so badly maintained by the landlords/slum lords, compared to low rent apartments in Finland. Much much harder to make look clean. You did a fantastic job, as always! Those people were so lucky to have you.
That's terrible. Here in the UK there are a lot of no win, no fee lawyers now ( adverts on YT) who will prosecute for that & also the local councils have departments of Environmental health who will threaten legal action if it's not sorted too. Not many people know that rentals do come under our Housing Act laws too.
There are fair housing laws in the US as well. Unfortunately, a lot of those living in the apartments these slumlords own, have a fear of being kicked out if they complain. I’m sure there are tenants that have pasts that sometimes make it difficult for them to get nicer apartments as well.
What ppl don’t realize about NY is that these low income apts have rent so low it doesn’t even cover the taxes the landlord pays to the government. Would you pay a few hundred a month in taxes to the government without making any money on the apt? Let’s not even talk about insurance on an apt. It can be 1000.00 $ a month just for insurance, that the LL pays. Then you get smoking tenants who leave nicotine and tar residue all over the walls and ceilings and don’t do basic cleaning.
That can cost tens of thousands in damages. Would you pay thousands a year t keep up an apartment that makes no money but costs you big money?
@@stevearino899 If they can’t afford to maintain an apartment building, they should sell it, even if they lose money on it. Otherwise they should be fined daily if they aren’t well maintained. I sure wouldn’t want to own one.

There’s a big difference in cleaning something that is in good condition and something that is worn out and needs to be replaced. I understand.
I want to make a separate comment regarding your possible question and answer video. I would say that just because people want to know something doesn’t mean that you should feel required to put it out on the Internet. Once it’s on the Internet it’s out there forever. I don’t want you to feel like you should have to sacrifice your privacy or safety just to satisfy someone’s curiosity.❤

Not a single one of us watched a first video of yours and was like, "Yeah, ok she cleans. Whatever. I'm just gonna keep watching to see if she talks about her latest fight with her father." The caulking needs to be removed and replaced by the super. I understand that he will not do it so the tenat has to do it. Cost is under $ 15.00 bucks. Scrape old out, replace with new. So worth it, I wanted to do it so badly to this bathroom.

Barbie, there is nothing you can do with that "grout" because once again it's a horrible caulking job that was done, with the wrong kind of caulk. it all has to be removed and recaulked and that's the landlord job. you once again did an amazing job!!

Awesome job Barbie❤. Even in our own homes when things get old they become harder to make like new. In homes where it hasn’t been cleaned in a long time or landlords don’t maintain things, it’s impossible to make it like new. You do what’s important, make it clean and a much healthier place to live physically and mentally

In Australia tenants have to leave the unit in a clean state otherwise they forfeit their bond (4 times weeks rent). That way at least everyone starts with a clean property- doesn’t seem to be the way in New York.

Is the landlord going to come in and recaulk the sink and bathtub? It would make a big difference and prevent water damage.
Ancient things reach a point when nothing makes them look better . My bathroom has an ancient shower tray. Believe me I've tried every product there is & descaled it using both vinegar descaling hacks & proper descaler : it still looks rough. I'm thinking of getting enamel paint & trying that as the resurfacing kits seem to have poor reviews & cost almost what a new tray would be.

The apartment maintenance guy needs to re-grout that bathtub!!!!!!! 😄😂😄 The New York Apartments need to do monthly inspections as that would help in some way of keeping somewhat of a halfway clean and decent place!!!! Barbie don't beat yourself up. you do a great job. just as the saying goes. You can't make a silk purse from a sows ear. A lot of apartments you clean seam to need a lot of maintenance you still make them clean. We don't need to know your personal life, we enjoy your videos just the way they are. You do good things for people that need help be proud of yourself as we are proud of you :)

The door transformation was magical!!!
The lumps of tiling cement, sealant and excess grout all over the tile surfaces, walls and floor would drive me insane. I'm certainly not a perfectionist but it's shoddy construction and installation to leave the job so awfully finished. Add the dirt and germs and it would be a nightmare to actually clean. Well done as always Barbie but if I lived there I'd have to chip all that extra stuff off lol.

My longtime boyfriend and I moved into a new home 20 years ago. We broke up four years ago. He asked me to come help him clean. As he's very messy, I was reluctant but did anyway. His beautiful home is now trashed. He had a few roommates that helped him trash it out. They left quite a mess. There's no way to bring the house back to it's former glory. It needs new everything. You've done amazingly well cleaning that place. That door was particularly nasty.

You did a beautiful job! I’m sure that just having that window clean adds so much light to the room! The stove looks great and the bathroom looks as good as it can. Unfortunately most of that caulking around the edges just needs to be stripped off and replaced. But that’s not some thing that you can do while you are cleaning because it needs to dry and cure. But you did a wonderful job making sure that the bathroom was clean and as hygienic as possible.❤

Lysol toilet bowl cleaner works on some grout and tile. Leave for a few minutes before scrubbing ❤
@@eyesup9542 it also eats away the grout causing water to seep into the walls. That’s why there is a disclaimer on most toilet bowl cleaners that it be used on toilets only.

Great job! If things are in such disrepair you can only clean so much. That bathroom would need new flooring and redo of caulk. Too many landlords not doing maintenance, then have to completely renovate and raise rent. You are an angel for helping.
The toothbrush can be also useful for the grout. Although it is very labor intensive. I would love to see how well your steam cleaner does on grout. I clean mine weekly but hard water and soap scum are still very hard to remove from those tiny ridges. 😢
When there is grease involved use a non scented, non foaming oven cleaner. Zep is good, but more expensive. I save that for the big guns.

We moved my dad from a big house to a small house, he was a heavy smoker and it wasALL yellow. EVERYTHING!
Peroxide is awesome with grout. ❤️🥰 excellent work 🎉
You should use plastic foile, not what you did now, and let it sit for 3-4 hours, then it melts everything. With the sounke get scub daddy to sponser you so, you can clean better with bouth power paste and leave the sponge for the residents. It’s washable in the washing machine too :) you will save alot of time get it shining flawlessly. You can slso get a better stronger cleaning brush made for small places and cravises :) pretty shure they’d gladly sponser you :)
Those yellow stains on the edge of the bathroom sink are from lit cigarettes being placed directly on the sink while being smoked. Ugh. I didn't speak to my sister after she placed her lit cigarette on my new bathroom sink and it left a cigarette burn mark. Needless to say this drives me crazy and I'm a smoker. You can't get them out of a composite sink no matter how hard you try. I don't smoke in my own house and I no longer let anyone smoke in my house. Ever! It stinks, it's dirty, and ruins everything in a house. Disgusting.

I'm always afraid to clean heavily on Old grout for fear of moisture getting under the tile. It's better when tile is that bad that they redo the grout. So I wouldn't worry about not being able to make it look good

The oven cleaners in the US aren’t as strong as they used to be. Probably in Europe you can get stronger ones
