    Awesome work once again!
Just a tip, when you are waxing chains you should put them in ice cold water after having the chain in the molten wax, the ice water makes the wax dry inside the links faster and the wax doesn't have time to melt and come out from inbetween the links, lubing the chain better.

I basically did the same. I bought a Trek 4300 back in july of 2007 and slowly changed all the parts and components; only part left from purchase is the headset spacer. I was told by the owner of the store were I bought the bike from that I could of bought a better bike for less than I spent on upgrading this one. Dude I snagged an eBay dropper for 30. It was a new takeoff from one of those rental citibike things. Weighs like 3 pounds. Manual drop lever with no remote option, not adjustable for saddle angle, only 100mm of travel. Basically the worst dropper imaginable.
It’s still a million times better than not having a dropper.

I still run my 2 x 10 bc I have a wider range of gears and can maintain a better chain line while on steep tech. To go to a 1 x set up, I think you need an 11 or 12 speed cassette to make it worthwhile. Some older bikes don't have the room in the rear triangle to fit more than a 10 speed cassette. It would be hard to find the right tooth chainring to make it work in my opinion. Besides, my crankset is a sweet carbon combo with a bash guard that has saved my rings countless times.

Yep, you cannot throw 2.5's on a narrow rim. I ride a 2013 Stumpy 29er and my internal rim width is only 26mm. The bike was designed for no wider than 2.3 mm so that is what I run... Specialized Butcher/Maxxis DHR combo. My rear seat stay can't really accept a big meaty tire neither. I would get rubs. Solid advice for people who want to go wider. Check your rim width first... at least 30mm width on the rim to go wider. Surprised the bike shop didn't catch that the tires weren't seating properly. Good vid and a good deed.

Good choice of drivetrain. I have the m6100 sgs version, I am not sure wha tthe difference is. I tried the cassette it shifts well. I've not tried the trigger shifter but I did not get along with the ergonomics of previous, I have Archer D1xtrail paddle remote, great ergonomics, and painless, and no fatigue. The Deore Rd has done well.
