Fun thing about the end of WW2, tons of chicken farmers tried to export their chickens to Europe after the war (1963). But the proto EU didn't want their own chicken farmers to get beaten out by a foreign market. The decided to put a tariff on US chickens to keep their own markets safe. US lawmakers got so buttmad about this they created the Chicken Tax legislation. Which is still in place today, but doesn't touch upon any chickens, instead it makes small trucks impossible to sell in the US (even from US automakers) by imposing a 25% tariff on any "small" trucks (Which is defined REALLY badly). Functionally its still in place because the American big 3 auto makers just really suck at making vehicles lol.
Making things even dumber, Ford was getting around the chicken tax by importing their Transit Connect cargo vans (which were assembled in Turkey) with rear seats in them to avoid the light truck classification, then destroying the rear seats once the vans cleared customs.

McDonald's jumped the shark when they removed the thigh meat. With today's McNuggets, if you don't eat them when you first get them, by the time you get home, they're cold and taste like cardboard.
I've rarely eaten any american type fast food, and the one time I tried mcnuggets (quite cold), I thought they were absolutely terrible. I also semi-hated the big mac, though there it was more the disparity between the low quality and high price. mcdonalds offering less food in the big mac that's much less tasty and slightly more unhealthy for more money than single kebab shops despite mcD's scale advantage is absurd. I suppose the other fast food chains are similar, but mcdonalds certainly is a huge ripoff. it's also super obvious in the price of the fries, but tbh the taste of those does work on me.

The batter wasn't really never-before-seen. It's just a type of Tempura batter, common in Japanese cooking. My family used to love turkey ham. I tried to buy some the other day and nobody seemed to sell it any more. Still love chicken hot dogs and balogna. Thanks, Cornell scientist! That said, I have never liked McNuggets. The fact that the $5 meal comes with nuggets makes me ill. I don't want them. Won't eat them. I grew up in the 80s and should love them but no way. Never enjoyed them and absolutely do not want.
McD's and Wendy's got the best nuggies. They need to try and add seasonal dipping sauce flavors again, though. I remember back in the 80's McD's had a Mexican habanero sauce that was awesome.
Once again, we have Stephen Colbert on the mic for the Weird History Food channel! Chick-fil-A has the best nuggets but it's not really a fair comparison because CfA's are actual chunks of chicken. Of the Frankennuggets, I'd say McD's are better than the rest. The texture of the meat and breading are just superior to what anybody else is doing.
I think we often don't think about how innovative some stuff are. If I made a deep fried beef nugget it would be sacrilegious but it's so different than the norm I don't even want to dwell on the thought of it exsisiting

I love the McNuggets since I was a kid that’s a great story.
I like to eat some chicken nuggets from time to time. I think they arrived here in Argentina in the late 90s, when the brand "Patitas" was created, the nuggets themselves were in the shape of chicken drumsticks, there also included spinach and pumpkin varieties for those who didn't want to eat meat
I enjoyed the crap out of this video. Thank you. You are awesome, I appreciate everything you have done for me. I'm very glad to have seen it and appreciate every bit of it. ❣️🤓
I miss the dark meat chicken mcnuggets

2003 was the worst loss of all
I truly love the intro! 😂
I'd STILL eat Chicken Nuggets even if they were made out of Chicken Feet & Toenails!!!!! LOVE 'EM!!!!!!
The nuggets of the 80s with feet and parts tasted better, than the current version sweetened with chicken flavoring and corn syrup
Eye lids and assholes are still meat....so yea id be right there with you.....If it taste good ill eat it You only live once yanno!
I never thought they made the shaped for chicken nuggets purposefully wtf
Wow. I'm really hungry for some chicken nuggets now.
"Everything that's' actually in a Chicken McNugget" doesn't list everything that's in them. Just that someone made something close with bread, chicken, eggs, and milk.
Steven spatula is the best mcdonald's manager of all time and shows what its like in taking orders assembly of your breakfast sandwiches the various burgers the chicken sandwiches to how they make your favorite mc flurry
Cornell recipe chicken is famous all over NY. Pretty good bbq 30m east of Ithaca.
McD's and Wendy's got the best nuggies. They need to try and add seasonal dipping sauce flavors again, though. I remember back in the 80's McD's had a Mexican habanero sauce that was awesome.
Honestly... no one does nuggets better than McDonald's 🍗

@@chobies5383 Don't we all know that Tom Blank and Stephen Colbert are actually clones? Nobody has yet figured out who is the original though.
Best narrator voice ever.😊
chicken gizzards with some gravy an mashed tatters, yum yum!~
Stegosaur? Who would eat that? If you're not serving barosaur, I'm not buying.
I think we often don't think about how innovative some stuff are. If I made a deep fried beef nugget it would be sacrilegious but it's so different than the norm I don't even want to dwell on the thought of it exsisiting
So, are we just going to ignore Burger King's Chicken Tenders? I know they aren't a processed poultry adjacent sponge to move ketchup from the packet to the child's mouth but they sure were good. Those tenders were a perfect accompaniment to the french toast sticks.
Seems like they are pff
Does anyone remember the crown shaped Burger King nuggets of the 90s? We used to stop after church on Wednesday night and the nuggets were crown shaped.
@AnnieMissF myself no but at that time I wasn't in the nuggies game anymore.
RIP Lynja 😢
DINO NUGGETS BEST THING IN THE UNIVERSE. So glad it got a shoutout
Here, we have Culver's "Chicken Tenders" made from the tenderloin section of chicken breast. They are delish!
Wow, I always wondered how much chicken (and which parts) were in those things because of their weird texture. I really believed the pink slime thing, again, because of their weird texture. Thanks for the info.
