2:46 That's an aux weight, it screws into the back of the tonearm tube. Used for heavy cartridges/headshells. 5:40 Balancing while the stylus guard is still on will give you a few grams too little tracking force, since the stylus guard weighs a few grams on its own. 6:18 I'm sorry to be *that* guy, but... Needles are steel pins which are used on gramophones. Styli are used on turntables.
Thanks. I was totally stuck trying to follow the printed instructions. You really helped, cheers! 1.8 is the setting for the counterweight and the anti skate.
I know you were rushing but make sure the stylus protector is removed before you adjust the balance weight and add the tracking weight...set the bias wheel to match the same number of weight selected. Anyway, many thanks for showing this video it helps me re-pack the whole lot to send back to my seller as the direct output has a very nasty clicking noise interference on it. The tonearm bearings are slack too :(
Thanks for the video....I saw that the weight of the needle is 1.8g....then that was the value I that I use to setup the tonearm. Mine arrived yesterday. Very happy.
Thank you. I wasn't sure how to balance the arm/needle based on the manual included. I even added the extra weight because the manual showed it . . . and I soon figured out that it wasn't needed. But the manual could have been so much better.
My eyes seem to think the arm was not level out of the box. I turned the screw quite a few times to raise that base and make the arm level. But now I am speculating that with the default cartridge, the unit is ready out of the box?
Really vague on the counterweight. That will effect sound and wear/tear on needle and records. I hope there is a better video on this aspect of the setup.
I hear more of the unpacking noises than your voice, please speak up in your future videos, were you trying not to wake up somebody? Lol. Nice unboxing video, how have you liked your TT so far? I'm intrigued by the new design of the Technics Direct Drive motor, it always used to be the magnets on the platter being around the coils but the new ones have this flat magnet over a flat PCB 🤔
Hi Just have question for you about this turntable. How is the power button of this table ?? Just got the same table and the power button is missing presses now and then. The power button on this table does not feel very reliable ?? I can somehow understand it has some delay because it is logic controlled (does not respond to very fast presses) but it feels kinda irrational, all the other buttons work and respond like a charm. Someone else was talking about this same thing in reddit. Does it need a somekind of power down and up cycle ???
Amazing no one knows how to put a platter on the spindle, put your fore fingers in the two holes, with your thumbs near the spindle hole.and lower it on.

@Nigel Day You don't need to use an aux weight when running the 2M Red, according to the manual.
@Nigel Day Oh no! Don't get all those flakes on to the records! 😱
Thank you 😊

You should adjust the tonearm without stylus protection shield)
I think he was just doing this as a quick and dirty type thing, he wasn't doing it as a pro setup tutorial
Yeah. This is a good point. I have just set mine up and have yet to turn it on. I'll take the shield off and re-balance it.
Can you do a full setup video? Im struggling with setting mine up. Especially the weight balancing.

Mine seemed to be level out of the box. But good to check anyway.
You have to adjust the table to make sure its level before you set the tonearm and antiskate
I wonder if the feet on the TT are adjustable for leveling. Does anyone know?

Maybe make one yourself?
Hi
Are you happy with this turntable, does it work properly does the Auto Lift go up at the end, does the turntable stop?

@@ABsSoundAdvice so how do you like the new direct drive motor compared to the old one? Does it have the same torque?
No trouble hearing the commentary at all in my opinion...
@@JoeOrberHe ignored you buddy
@@kingofuseddurablecars.ls6040 oh no 😱 🤣

And you forgot to show the cables
how does it compare to the sp10 for quick start ups when use for radio station use
Thanks, this was a good practical video. I've just ordered one today so looking forward to replicating the experience!
It would better if Technics sold these without a cartridge . That 2M red is not worth it .
I notice more turntables in the price point being sold with the Blue. I wish they had done that as default.

Ive just bought a technics 1210 mk7 for £200 less than this.
