Thanks for this informative video clip, sir. May I ask whether any farms in Nigeria have finally branched into extracting goat milk from the local Nigerian dwarf goats? Goat milk is reportedly far more tasty and nutritious than cow milk, so it is baffling to see that the dairy potential of the goats is not yet being exploited in Nigeria. In the USA Nigerian dwarf goats are used only for dairy, and never for meat, while the converse is true in those goats' native Nigeria where goats have never been milked traditionally, and are raised only for meat. I recently started a small goat farm with the intention of using the animals for dairy exclusively.
Because Nigerians do not understand that dwarf goat is a milking goat or miltipurpose , we have to import Alpine, Saanen, Oberhasli, and Toggenburg goats, which cost 1.3 million naira apiece. But the main issue is that Nigerians do not drink goat milk; only foreigners such as Israelis and some Europeans do. However, the market could not move forward because it was not well packaged at the time (6 years ago), and no one is willing to explore that market now.
@@kfagro1682 Wow. This perspective is appreciated. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Despite having access to cheap local goats that provide bountiful milk harvests, Nigerians prefer to squander vast sums of money buying imported breeds. Paradoxically, Nigerian pygmy goats retail for up to $2K USD in the USA, with $500 being an average price. I now intend to go all out farming Nigerian pygmy goats purely for milk and cheese production. I currently own just twenty Nigerian Pygmy goats, but the herd will expand rapidly, as will my capacity to milk them on an industrial scale as the years go by.
@@kfagro1682 These are astronomical prices. Only the fabulously rich can afford to farm these animals. Interestingly, Nigerian dwarf goats run from $500 to $2000 USD in the USA, equalling 600K naira to 1.2M naira EACH, whereas those same goats newly weaned sell for just $20 USD in their native Nigeria. Just goes to show that animals from foreign countries are highly prized, regardless of their prices in their native countries.
Every information given in this video at all wrong boar goats set records at about 120 kilos and sokoto red averagely weighs about 50 kilos.. We must not lie or give false information in order to sell foreign breeds to Nigerians at cut throat prices
The man you are talking about is one of the only Boer goat importers in Nigeria. A former legislator in the Polish parliament. Some of you need to stop this disrespectful language you use when talking to not just elders, but those who are experienced in the business. Since you do not know the prices of Boer goats, go and obtain a South African visa. Buy a return ticket and attend a Boer goat auction. Then you can come back to talk. Even a Nigerian Dwarf goes for as much as $10,000 in Australia. You clearly are not versed in goat business so Iko Iyaji, you need to hush it please.
This is the problem we have in Africa... What has the Parliament got to do with our discussion the information given a wrong they are wrong simple. This is the same mindset that we have used to destroy the church in Nigeria when a "man of God" says or does something wrong because he's a pastor we swallow it ...millions of Nigerians are watching this video. so any wrong information will go wild because most of you will believe that every expression you heard from this video is directly coming from God and you will go on spreading wrong information
Rearing the goats is not the point I can seek India without wearing them .I have never rear boar or Kalahari red but for sokoto red I have rear and a few of them have gone over 50 and I have seen other far bigger than mine..this is a far cry from the numbers you gave. 4 Boer goats and Kalahari red the South Africans themselves have given the range of 100 to 120 a few could set records above those numbers but those are exceptional cases.
Iko Iyaji is right, I have all the breeds above and claiming he is the only person to import them by Ikene e. is a wrong assertion too. I have a goat ranch in Nigeria and videos of my goat too on TH-cam channel name is (Kutunban). I have a reasonable quantity of sokoto red (Maradi) buck weighing above 50kg.
Well done sir…. God bless and prosper your farm
