I use to make this cake, well I would make 3 for my Mother in law’s house for Thanksgiving & Christmas 2 for my parents house for Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner and 1 for my Sister house for our Christmas Eve at her house and that doesn’t include the 3 Strawberry Cakes I would also make, Plus 2 Pineapple Cakes for my Mother in law’s house and 2 for my Parents house, Plus a Chocolate Cherry cake’s Baked 3 Ham’s , Green Beans Casserole For 30-40 people at my Mother in law’s house and I worked a full time job 40-55 Hours a week I worked for my Parents I Helped and managed their business. But your so right the cakes are fantastic And worth the time. I don’t cook like that anymore my are no longer alive and my Mother in law passed away about 6 years ago at 96 years old but I had her come to my house and I would cook everything that she liked and then she was loaded down with food when she was ready to go home I wish all the luck in world with your new Business. In Argentina people like to make sponge cakes and use simple syrup to moisten the cake, so I'm sure that your cake was very moist--and I can taste the pecans here now! How exciting! I think that showing us the process of starting a food business would be a good niche for your channel--I don't see a lot of that here on foodie TH-cam. Once again, great cake!

Well, good thing I did a trial run tonight, because I goofed up lol!! I tried to add the glaze to the cake while it was still hot upside down in the pan, waited 5 minutes and then tried to turn it over. It was too hot and mushed up. Tastes good, but learned my lesson. Let it cool first haha
Yes let the cake cool first then turn it out on to a plate where the pecan side is showing then I would suggest brushing on your glaze. Let me know how that works for you

Hi! I love this quick & easy way to make Rum Cake! I'd like to add golden raisins to the cake any tips on how much to add ? What about soaking them in the rum before adding it to the batter? Thanks I can't wait to make this! 😀
Hi I think if you soaked the raisins in rum they would all settle to the bottom. I would suggest t take just a tablespoon of the cake mix and coat the raisins with it then once you have made the cake put them back in and mix in the cake mix batter. This should stop them from sinking to the bottom. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching

I've seen a bunch that use walnuts-which I do like, but I knew I would be using pecans even before seeing your recipe because I love them and because it's more on the sweeter tasting nut that I'm sure will go well with this recipe. Lenora Traylor I think it would be ok. Are you adding the rum to the powdered sugar or leaving it out all together? Just remember this is a light cake so it’s not very dense. I am sure it will be delicious 😋

Yes but it’s really not necessary to add additional water it will be fine without the rum.Just do all the other steps. Hope this helps.
