I've had this pedal for over over 7 months and it's never left my board. I feel I know it quite well at this point, but I still have this intro jam pop in my head and come back to watch it from time to time. This is such a great video all around.
I just got one and it's pretty awesome. But I want to know if something is wrong with the focus switch or if it's a way it's supposed to be. When them switches in the middle position is it supposed to have significantly less volume than when it's on the bottom or top position?
I actually was really digging that "wall of sound" at the end, so you're right to say though it's not for everyone it hits the spot for some in that application.
Just got a meet maude today and this was the first video I thought of to watch for it because the delay lines you have here rule. Was an unreal starting point to fine tune
@@mwrdr228 hey thx! All of the riffs in this one are original, as are like 95% of them in my other vids (plus the occasional homage to favorite bands here and there)
Recently discovered your channel and I absolutely love what you’re creating. Your playing style is exactly what these pedals need. It’s making my decision on buying pedals so much easier. Do you have any music released online? Would love to hear more of this.
Hey thank you, I appreciate that and glad to help! I did release an emo/pop punk album with a good friend quite a while ago, that's in line with this intro track (Short Answers - "This Is a Perfect Place"), but sad to say I haven't written much "proper" music outside of demos since before the pandemic. Hoping to get back to that this year!
Definitely pretty different animals so it's hard to compare them, but I think if you're after a bit more "traditional" overdrive sounds, Limelight is the one for that. The Halberd is a bit more out-there, with a kind of tweed/console-ish drive sound and a lot of high-mid/treble focus. Pretty unique next to other overdrives and decidedly a bit more niche.
@@particlesandpixels never played a Morning Glory but the two are pretty different as far as I know. Limelight shares some very basic DNA with the Bluesbreaker, but next to a stock BB I built, they sound and feel completely different. Knowing that the Morning Glory is a fair bit closer to a BB, gonna say Limelight is much more my speed.
@@ambienttrash5234cool I appreciate the input, I never played a blues breaker actually but im on the search for one and this is a solid contender. I like how JHS has the red switch option too for the added gain
Amazing as always man!! What tuning are you in from the "overview" section onwards playing that loop? Sounds like Drop B but the sound of the open strings (I think) make me think it's an alternate/open tuning?
@@__DaveAlexander lol yeah it's just the fourths below the root notes that make them sound lower than they are. Chords are loosely: 3 3 2 0 0 x 5 5 4 0 0 x 7 7 5 0 0 x 10 10 9 0 0 x 0 7 5 0 7 x

Brilliant demo - I'm sold on this pedal. Your base tone on the Origin sounds great, how were you setting it to platform for the Limelight? I can never get my top-end right between the treble, presence and tilt controls.
Hey thanks! I regrettably didn't write it down this time, but pretty sure I have the gain around 2 o clock or so (no pull boost), tilt around 9 o clock. Bass/Mid/Treble are about 1oc/11oc/2oc, and Presence probably around noon. This is also going direct into the Captor X, worth noting. I experimented with an AC30-style IR here which is different from the Origin of course, but not too dramatically different to me. All to say, just take that with a grain of salt as you would with any demo.
How do you like this compared to the long sword? I know they’re different animals but..I currently have the long sword and may get this as I like the brighter character. Is it as or more versatile?
Depends what you're going for but it's definitely at least equally versatile IMO. Honestly in context I'd prob use both for similar things but Limelight of course covers the lighter low-gain sounds better, while the Longsword gets much heavier. LL def cuts really nicely so if you're going for a drive like that I'd absolutely recommend it
I record pretty much everything direct and only have one amp that I record with, so I tend to track the direct signal with no cab sim and then add one in my DAW with the Wall of Sound plugin
@@ambienttrash5234 Sorry if this is a ridiculous question but if you have an Apollo Twin X could I plug guitar into the pedal and that direct into the interfaces guitar jack in and then if I had the Wall of Sound in my DAW I would choose one amp from that. Basically.
@@crookedfeel nah not ridiculous! I mean, technically there's nothing really *wrong* with that, but Wall of Sound only loads cab sims/IRs, so you'd most likely want some kind of preamp pedal or plugin before that if you were to run the pedal direct to your interface.
depends on your goal I guess? I've not actually played a Dagger yet but have a Longsword-I use that and the Limelight more or less for the same kind of thing, but I could see a Dagger being a nice addition for an extra 'heavy' gain stage after the Limelight.

One of my favorite demo intro jams. Thanks dude!
This is amazing! You're absolutely killing it with your demos as of late.
Ahhh thanks so much man! As always much appreciated
Now that was amazing. Loved the pedal, but those riffs and soundscapes all too awesome! Great work.

yo nice! Meet Maude is so great, nothing quite like it
I've been loving this pedal + a healthy dose of chorus with the J Mascis so it's super cool to see it in a video like this
Your demos are always sick, and this one is rad as well! Great tones throughout! You need to release original material, or share it if you already do!

Great playing from the guitarist. Great sound from the pedal !!!
Wow this sounds great!

amazing playing and using the sounds. A true pro!
Thanks for sharing this! You made me buy this pedal and I can't wait to play asap!

A collection of my favorite pedals in one vid! Tasty 😋
Amazing job as always! I love my Longsword and might just have to add a Limelight to the collection. Cheers!

Best review of this pedal!!!
