So the top 10 ranked dividend kings perform inline with SPY. But I think I may put together a follow up video because if you select fewer than 10 Kings the outcomes gets better.
@@LongacresFinance Yup! planning to start investing in some dividend stocks, would love to know what stocks were for chosen for 2025 using the scoring system showed in the video, your personal top stocks, and your overall outlook for 2025!!
Oh boy that’s a difficult question to answer in the comment section. The 3 highest ranked Dividend Kings for 2025 were: ADP CINF and GWW If you want to know which stocks are on my radar you can check out my newsletter qualityatafairprice.substack.com I share my investable universe along with valuations. You can get some ideas from the latest articles. I also have my 4 factor strategy that you can see on TH-cam, there’s a play list on my channel dedicated to it. @ i went -66%, held it for a while and last week i finally sold it. Tough loss but learned some VERY valuable lessons. Do your own diligence and don’t borrow conviction.
Don’t feel bad, we have all been there and learned the same lessons at one point. It’s good to get a few of these investment blunders out of the way early so you don’t make the same mistakes when your portfolio is much bigger. And to clarify I’m not saying investing in LEG was a mistake, not doing your own due diligence was.
@ Agree! Very valuable lesson and still in my early phases of investing. My assumption was that the dividend would be safe with a dividend king. If i did my homework properly I could’ve seen the dividend cut coming months before 🙃
Great content, as always! I need some advice: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
I'm just trying to understand, so you're selecting which to invest in is based on how they did the year before? And your examples are an actual test - eg the ones you selected for 2018 are the ones that did the best in 2017?
Yes, the Kings that had the best Quality Score in 2017 are purchased and held in 2018. Then I repeat the process for each year. The results are based on actual financial data and actual returns. It’s a real backtest except I didn’t use a platform to run it, I did it in a spreadsheet. In the prior episode I shared the spreadsheet with all of the financial data with a free link to download if you sign up for my newsletter.
I know, it’s easy to look at what already happened and find a pattern that would have worked well. The real test is to see if it will work in the future. There’s only 1 way to find that out…
Terrific analysis! The biggest takeaway is how irrelevant dividends are compared to quality and growth metrics. In fact, if you eliminate the requirement to have dividends at all, you’ll probably end up with even better results. And with a much more diversified basket of companies while still outperforming the market.
Thanks! The dividend income still played a role on the total return and more so than the dividend stream from SPY, but yes dividends are to an extent irrelevant if your objective is to maximize total return. In the end it comes down to what your investment objectives are. I like both, total return and dividend income!
Only if you ignore dividends contributed to the total return and you'd have to remove those dividend returns and look at the returns without them. From 1940-2023, dividend income's contribution to the total return of the S&P 500 Index averaged 34%. If you think that those dividends don't matter u really don't understand the total returns.
Great analysis once again. Happy New Year to you and yours!
Thank you! And a Happy and Prosperous New Year to you as well!
Always informative. Keep up the great work - I look forward to seeing how the 3 selected stocks will work out in 2025.
Thank you! I will certainly keep track of these 3 dividend kings and perhaps refresh this content closer to the end of 2025.
I wonder how it would do if you just pick the top 10 ranked ones every year
That should be fairly easy to test, I’ll run it this evening and report back.

Very very great video, big sub and like! Is there a way to download the list for 2025? :)
Thank you! Are you asking for a list of quality scores for 2025?

Great test!

@MDC249 wanna talk in my native language?
My Leggett & Platt ex-dividend king did not do me much good this year :P
Yeah, a 60% decline is tough to watch. Are you still holding your position?

Oh yeah, i kept just one share to help me remind me of my hard learnt lessons 😅

Excellent analysis as always. Have you ever considered starting your own ETF?
Thank you.
You need a considerable amount of capital to launch an ETF and even then you have to charge a high fee to cover the base costs.

@LongacresFinance It's really a cool test, clever idea 👏👍
I thought so too. I started working on a bigger one now that includes over 600 dividend growth stocks. I’m curious if I will uncover the same pattern.
