Anyways im just saying if you want to learn how to do this this m an here is a good place to start. Thanks for all this Matt. Cant wait till its warm again.
I would love to see some of your shots or clips if you have any brother! I got into a rut myself recently and I haven't fished or kayaked in a lot longer than I'd like to admit. I used to throw my kayak and a line in the water EVERY single day for at least 10 or 15 minutes no matter what. These videos are motivating me to get back into it. Good luck!!
Well said, Todd. I posted a similar message like a year ago. Started river kayak fishing in 2019 and once I found Matt’s videos my fishing improved immediately. Learned so much from him and super grateful not just for the lessons but just awesome content in general. Matt, I hope you realize how much of an impact you have on us yak fishermen!
I would never rejoice over a fellow angler’s struggle, but you getting snagged a lot made me feel better about some of my river fishing. It can be brutal some days especially around low head dams. I love your videos!

Lovely to be back out with you again. Now more than ever we all need to escape the madness and just have a lovely time floating down the river. Thanks Matt what you do is more than just fishing, you make a lot of people happy. 👍
Matt, thank you for taking us along on another great fishing adventure. You are fast approaching the quarter million subscriber mark. As I have been saying all along, you are definitely the most underrated fisherman on TH-cam, though it won’t be long until you hit a million subscribers.
your videos are the most real stuff out there...anyone who kayak fishes in rivers knows...1. You're gonna lose baits 2. Handling the kayak and fishing at the same time is a pain in the butt 3. You spend more time messing w your gear than actually fishing some days. Appreciate that you keep it real.
Glad to see you back on the water! Living in Texas doesn't provide a lot of opportunity to chase smallmouth bass in clear, clean streams and rivers. Living vicariously aboard your kayak...................! LOL
I love your videos! Not just for all the amazing fish you catch, but also because you set a great example of what a true fisherman and sportsman is, someone who takes the time to remove someone else’s jig from a Smallie, you always seem to leave the river a better place than when you found it. 👏🏼
Always great to see another video from you even if it is old footage. You were my introduction to fishing videos on TH-cam, and you're still the best in the game!
Love how you showed yourself getting snagged and attempting to retrieve it. That's the reality of fishing current with a ton of structure. Fished Elkhorn creek in Frankfort most of my life and we lost countless baits . Love your videos. Thanks man for posting
Yeah it’s cheap jigs and cheap plastics, or at least stuff I have a bunch of extra of, whenever I fish this river! Lots of sticks and rocks to snag up on. I can get a lot of them back in the kayak but this spot had some fast current areas I didn’t want to mess around in too much.
When you hit 500k subs, I’m gonna feel so good about the direction of the planet. 350k by the end of this year for sure. Hope that lets you kayak around the country. Can’t wait to see ya out and about again. This channel is more valuable than any 401k. Well deserved retirement plan. So great! Thanks for the real joy. Hope all your family is well. The first proper video of 2022. It must mean Spring isn't too far away. In fact the longer the video went on the more I noticed green leaves on the plants. Here in Yorkshire we are probably 4 to 6 weeks away at least before we see new shoots. It's good to see you back in the kayak too. First Smallies of 2022 must feel good.
This footage is from last spring, we still have a couple months before we see any leaves or green grass here. It’s been cold here this winter, the first year in many I haven’t been able to get the kayak out for some mid winter fishing on the river. It shouldn’t be much longer now though!
@@ndyakangler I did wonder. I checked the video info and there was no date so I shrugged my shoulders and assumed it was 2022. So if you have any other snippets from last year please put them up. Anything will do to break up the dreary grey days of late Winter
That spring vibe hits nicely in February, super mellow, warm sun. Also reassuring to occasionally see you catch fish as small as the ones I catch- gives me hope lol
Ya, wish it was Spring here. Still have to drill our holes up here and looking outside my window, it looks like I have to shovel the driveway as well. Can't wait for the day to actually cast my rod and be able to slowly reel in a nice smallie. Keep following your nose!

Nice video. You should always check the upstream side of islands too. Logs and other debris tend to lodge on the up slope in front of the island. Tight lines!
Yes, I have had excellent results working directly above front ends of small islands just a few feet above where the water parts to the sides.
