      Way better than the Bulls guys. If they don't like a certain player or coach, or the GM, they just harp on it endlessly until they get traded or fired. Like the show is a platform for Bulls activism or something. I feel like every episode they're trying to make everyone as mad as possible. I'm not trying to be this mad during a rebuild. That's why I'm low key becoming a Mavs fan, because the vibes are better over here.

Klay will be inspired and on top of having one of the deepest rosters we also have the highest combined IQ in the backcourt....I can easily see Dallas again being the best team in the clutch, and blowing out opponents by 50....Klay will be a godsend like Ray Allen was for Maimi with Lebron....with higher upside because I think Klays ceeling is higher..... The uncertainty is his shooting. He seems to have plateaued as a career 32-35% 3 point shooter, we shouldn’t really expect much better than that but it would be a pleasant surprise. PJ is a good slasher, lob catcher, and can win a mismatch with a smaller defender from time to time. Hes a competent passer as well. He’s a solid 4th-5th offensive option and a super versatile and high level defender which is really where he earns his bread.

    I see it this way:
    Grimes can (and will) replace Green 1 vs 1. I really love what Green did for us and its sad to see him go. I really hope he balls out in Charlotte and a true Contender gets him out of there as soon as possible (looking at you Milwaukee or Cleveland). But Grimes is basically the same player. The one thing I allways liked about Grimes (and hoped Green would do it too), he just lets it fly from 3 if open. No hesitation whatsoever. For his career he takes more then double the 3P attempts that Green does (per 36 minutes) with a similar 3P%.
    Marshall also can (and hopefully will) replace DJJ. They are a bit different, one is a better shooter/playmaker, the other one is more athletic. But the Pels defense was 6 points better with Marshall on the court. And lets be honest, who was DJJ before playing for Dallas and in Kidd's system? So I also think this swap isnt making us worse.
    BUT Thompson replacing THJ? Do I even have to talk about it? Thats a huge upgrade. Yes, Thompson isnt a great PoA defender anymore... and yet he is still better then THJ ever was on defense. And he is also a way, WAY better and MORE CONSISTENT scorer. Dude shot 45% on C&S 3's last season! The problem was he had to (or wanted, dont know) to create a lot for himself. Thats not what his job will be on our team. Just run around some offball screens and shoot the rock if open!
    So overall we clearly got better, while still being under the 2nd tax apron and without giving up a 1st! Ad the internal groth of our younger guys (specially Lively, hopefully Hardy and O-Max) and better chemistry (having a full season together) to the mix and I am more then happy with our offseason.

      We didn't get better. Green is superior to Grimes in Kerang every statistic, DJJ was our best defender and is far better than Marshall, particularly as a lobby threat. Klay is better than thj but thjb didn't play.
      In short, we got better because of athleticism. We just have seat our 2 best athletes. Play in at best next season

    • @Smido83
      @Smido83 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@edwinblack-rw5xk What part is Green better at? More athletic? Did you ever see Grimes play at all? What was DJJ before coming to us and before playing in Kidds system? An End of the rotation guy on a fringe PO team. Marshall was more then that and isnt a worse defender then DJJ. He had the 2nd best def Impact on the entire Pels team last season. Just behind Alvarado.
      In short, we got better cause we traded for PJ and Gafford last season. Before that we were a bottom 10 in defense and bottom 10 in rebounding. DJJ was important, and so was Green. But the guys we got in combination are clearly better then the guys we lost!

    Why are people acting like PJ is locked in to be the starter all year? Yes he will start game 1. But if shoots like he did last season, Quentin Grimes and Naji Marshall are gonna force Kidd to put them in that starting lineup. If it's Grimes (im hoping it is), not only have you completely solved your POA defensive issues, you will have shooters at all 4 perimeter spots. PJ has earned the right to be a starter at the start of the season, but he's in no way shape or form SO good, that he has the starting role locked up.

What do we need from him, Simple play better consistently now that you are in a quality team surrounded by solid players and Luka and Irving. We need a 3rd night in night out 20pt guy, Klay or PJ needs to be that player.

      PJ provides size in rebounding and physical defense. Naji might compete for the spot but picking Grimes while we already have Klay, Kyrie, and Luka starting is rebounding suicide. How many times have we seen the 4 guard lineup for you guys to understand it's a horrible idea. Klay left Golden State because of said lineup. Grimes staying on the Bench and nobody shorter than 6'7 should start at PF. Think now.

    The problem with THJ is that he would blow assignments and that would blow up the defense. Klay will be in the right spots and that’s a significant upgrade.
    Luka has to figure out what he needs to do to sustain his health through a season. A nick or getting tired cannot turn him into a cone…he figures it out and the Klay starting lineup will work…if not. We will get another year of drastic highs and lows.

    I like the idea of getting Klay, but if he is used as spot-up shooter like DJJ or PJ we will not be much stronger. Good defenses would simply leave PJ open and he is not much better shooter than DJJ. We need Klay to move off the ball much more, creating weaknesses for Luka&Kyrie to exploit.

I think they will obviously start with klay but if the defense struggles too much I think it will be one of the other two ofc. I think naji will be such a glue and connector type guy and will be invaluable in terms of team fit and synergy. Grimes is very important because he will take the same amount of threes as Tim used too but hit more of those. Tim and grimes not shooting 5 attempts a game. Grimes is a far better defender than Tim which is why I’m excited to see him play.

    You know who I think will be a great acquisition at the trade deadline?
    That guy from the charlotte hornets.
    The 6’5 wing who plays defense, doesn’t take stupid shots and does pretty much everything well. A team player. Someone you can play 22 minutes off the bench, can get you 14 points in a playoff game and won’t complain about his role. Someone young, on Luka’s timeline who will grow with Doncic and hopefully will peak the same year(s). Someone we can get cheap, perhaps the Hornets will just give him away. Naw that’s stupid why would they do that? Ok what would they want? Do we have any broken down, expensive, disgruntled 34 yr old “fearless” shooters that are so popular in the nba that they’d take in exchange?
    You’re right they’d have to be IDIOTS to take that deal. Besides we need that guy to get back to the finals and win.

He had the great run vs OKC but clearly Klay, Luka and Kyrie deserve double the shots and Lively and Gafford will get 10-12 shots a game just on pick and rolls and put backs. We have very defined offensive roles and PJ’s are to hit a couple threes in the corner and drive to the bucket when the floor widens and they double the ball handlers. It’s perfect. He will now have a role similar to Aaron Gordon in Denver, who took 9.8 shots a game in the regular season, shot 62% on 2’s and 29% on threes. PJ could actually be better.

    We are probably better in general but DJJ was such a strong defender, I'm afraid this might hold us back. I really hope chemistry is not an issue either. the post trade deadline 23-24 roster was special and we all felt it. I'm 1000% certain that the city of Boston sacrificed thousands of children and small dogs to alter their destiny that had been written in the stars for eons. We didn't take into account that the fates could be bribed with blood. We can only hope that the blood wasn't enough and that they sacrificed their future as well.

    Yes the 3 additions Klay, Grimes and Naji are upgrades over DJ, Green and THJ. But did we fill our #1 need? A third all star dependable 3D wing ala LM from the Jazz are similar maybe Ingram from Pelicans. If not a dependable 3 pt shooter Yes we filled this need but would like to pick up Dennard as another floor spacer and 3 pt shooter. Last need point of attack D oriented point guard to ala a P Bev or D Smith. We resigned Exum playoff lights were too bright for him as they were PJ & DJ. In my opinion Thunder getting Curiso and pushing to get LM if they do, Thunder will be the team to beat over the next 3 to 5 years, young, talented, solid on D, shoots 3 well and a great coach. Love the Mavs but Thunder rolling out Shai, Curiso, Williams, LM and Chet. Will be hard to slow down. Will need Klay to have solid year on both ends of the court. Naji & Grimes will need to step up as solid role players. Luka gotta shoot 3 and freethrows better and give consistent effort on D side. Irving simply has to be more aggressive for the whole game. OMax and Hardy hopefully can earn role mins. Liv and Gaf stay out of foul trouble. And the X factor is PJ? Simply has to be more consistent on both ends of the court and make wide open 3's.

      i really don't get this "no defense," thing. we had no defensive at the beginning of last season because we didn't have gafford and pj. we instantly became one of the best defensive teams in the league (and the best after putting gafford and djj in the starting lineup), with hardaway still playing, after acquiring them.
      as for our new additions and replacements, grimes is better on both sides of the court than green, naji is better offensively (maybe even defensively) than djj, and klay is miles better than thj in every single way.
      we only got better. quit worrying.

    Hilarious, but I'd argue Dallas is plenty of pressure.
    It is just the rising tide in Dallas while GSW struggles thorough the financial penalties of deals they gave Draymond and Wiggins.
    Reality is Klay left a 10 seed for the WC Champion. Thats the entire story IMHO.
    And he gets to take the starting spot of a guy who was on a minimum deal last year.
    Dallas will be better for Klay because they have better players and will win more games.

    Dude! 77% from the free throw line is not a good thing. And I have no idea what Luka’s % is. But 80% has to be average in the NBA??? You’re standing 10 feet from the basket unguarded with the full backboard offering assistance. At my high school if you couldn’t make 80% of your free shots you were laughed at. I get that there are a lot of distractions in an NBA game. Isn’t that why these guys are paid millions of dollars? They are professionals right? Below 80% from 10 feet; uncontested. Pros should be averaging 90%

    • @Smido83
      @Smido83 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      ... you do know the FT line is 15 ft away from the basket, right? If not I cant take anything you said seriously...
      Career FT%: Grimes 77.2%, Marshall 77.6%, Thompson 85.8% vs Green 68.9%, DJJ 70.6%, THJ 81.2%
      So ooohhhh... they have to shoot 80% cause they are pro's... sure. I still take that Upgrade from the line, cause our team combined was one of the worst FT shooting teams in the league (and Playoffs) last season.

    Klay Thompson isn’t an upgrade over Josh Green, who he was traded for. He’s better than Tim Hardaway, a guy who he wasn’t traded for, but if it makes you feel better to compare him to a player he isn’t really “replacing” then go ahead. Next year Josh will have a better year than Klay, is 10 years younger and makes less. His shooting % will be higher, he will have just as many or more rebounds, assist, steals, fewer turnovers, etc…..but somehow Klay is AN UPGRADE. I’m sure Klay is a nice guy but Josh IS A NICER GUY LOL….We just traded a guy who helped us get to the finals for a guy who was 0-10 in a play-in tournament loss. Btw Green was 5-8 with four threes in his last game.
    Josh Green was “afraid”? What a moronic statement. It’s a make or miss league and Klay missed eight shots a game last year, ten shots a game the previous year. Unless you can attach a positive value to MISSED SHOTS then make a better argument. Fearless? All that matters is WAS IT A GOOD SHOT.

    Bro. I think you discount how much energy Green expended over his career playing defense because of Luka and Kyrie. Luka played better D in 2024 but had the most blowbys. That gets worse as you go back through 2023, 2022 etc. Naji is going to feel that expectation. On the Hornets he wasnt the best defender. Herb Jones was. Then Daniels etc. Adding Klay is basically having 3 players as starters who defend at 70/80% of everyone else

    • @JesusSavedtheEntireWorld
      @JesusSavedtheEntireWorld 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The entire Mavs strategy was to guide dribblers into Lively or Gafford. So, the “blow-by” stat is useless.

    I’ve been a mavs fan for a longggg time. Im not mad at the signings, but to tell you the team got better because of klay, naji, grimes is simply wishful thinkkng. In reality, I wish the mavs would have just ran it back with the same crew w/ an off season to have everybody work on what they needed to. There is something to be said about chemistry.thats how we won these games in the post season and after trade deadline. Losing DJJ and Josh green is a chemistry disrupter. Chemistry is not easy to create and sustain. We are looking at the game of basketball like it’s a video game, plug and play. But these are humans, there’s a level of humility, passion, and fondness for one another that it takes to win. And with these new additions I just don’t know if we will get back to that. But this is just my thoughts, I hope we are just as good if not better but it’s tough to see now. We lack wing defense and athleticism. Luka thrives off of lob guys, Boston taught teams that if they take our centers out of the game they can thrive versus Mavs. But good luck to the Mavs. Nico and Kidd has earned the benefit of the doubt from me after last season so I will be cautiously optimistic. This just feel like the year after we won the chip and the team got dismantled for some reason. Keep up the good work with these updates
