Connie, I think it has a LOT to do with his parents; if I recall, they're both high level (symphonic) musicians. That and a nasty mix of Latin, Latin Jazz, soul, rock played the house when he was coming up. Think about it.....when black music left the church for the profits of secular music in the 1960's, your Marvin Gaye's, Aretha Franklin's, Sam Cooke's etc.....came up from a legacy of gospel singers and brought that same oddness to pop music. Gabriel and Nick Hakim carry the torch now sadly.
This man is so painfully underrated. I wish he performed "Someone". I was in such a trance with that performance of Tombs that I was SHOCKED when it ended. Wow. GGM... YOU DESERVE THE WORLD AND MORE.

How is tonight the first time I experienced his brilliant truth? As a lyricist and songwriter I am beyond satiated. As a pure and genuine being of all that is good I am humbled by the recognition of a brother in spirit. Mi palabra es mi palabra. Muchos gracias. Dios to bendiga. Serio.
