    The fact we see the full coverage of DK64, back when Jack in the box was more creepy than it is today and the kongs using real guns, totally dope see this full, thanks Justin!

      It seems to be a little later than the real guns version where the models are final but the sounds still use the old versions.

    It's worth noting that at this time cutting edge home computers were pushing 333mhz CPU's at the absolute top end. Dolphin was 486mhz and had super-fast 1TSRAM to boot. It was an insanely impressive machine.

      Just think though 7B dollars and they’re “add-on” for the N64 failed
      *smh* their crazy! I’d have an entire company of my own, a 2 story building with over 300 workers making awesome games as well, but the fact that their add-on “failed” in marketing, first off, they need to avenge the systems life span after all these years of leaving it behind to nearly be totally forgotten, 7 billion dollars is a banks full vault of gold bricks, ffs!
      I want Miamoto to make someday make unexpected console comebacks, but can we expect that? *sigh*…

    The way they described dk64’s budget is a funny way of saying “we could only fix a game breaking bug by plugging in the expansion pak, so we included one with every game” lol

      Licensing for DVD. Same with the Wii

    • @micbr508
      @micbr508 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The specific wording there was "Dolphin's technology will be integrated into various Matsushita or Panasonic-branded DVD consumer electronic products, enabling consumers to play movies and music, as well as Dolphin games published by Nintendo and Nintendo's third-party publishers". The GameCube wouldn't be able to play movies and music, but Nintendo would allow Panasonic to use the Dolphin hardware in their upcoming DVD player, in what would eventually be released as the Panasonic Q.

      @Philyutuber2022 Playtonic is trying to fill those shoes, their debut title was lackluster yet Impossible Lair is worth playing. On the surface it appears that they’ve given up on games and moved on to publishing. They’ve stated in interviews that they’re definitely going to continue creating their own titles, including a 3D platformer. Current Rare is an entirely different studio, they didn’t even develop the newest entries in their classic franchises. It was always some unrelated studio with modern Rare as a consultant.

      E3 wasn't just the press conferences though. It was the entire week of hundreds if not thousands of new games to demo on the show floor, all the developers in one place to give interviews and show off their games, an opportunity for people to actually get theirs hands on these things and get their questions answered

    Never saw this trailer of Episode 1 Racer before. Was neat they got Jake Lloyd for that presentation
    Wait, Jet Force Gemini released withing *six weeks* of that trailer? Then the decision to age up Jet Force was pretty damn late in development. Juno even had a completely different armor upgrade. That just begs the question of why Rare didn't just use these models for the "Jet Force Kids" cheat instead of just messing with their proportions

    • @F0nkyNinja
      @F0nkyNinja 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the footage in the trailer was recorded much earlier. Back in the day they didn't care so much and you could find beta images on box art and in manuals and trailers. Movie trailers had scenes that were cut at final release, et.c. TV's at E3 had rolling footage recorded from earlier builds. But I think it was still a late change.

    • @M1XART
      @M1XART 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, it was delayed slighly, but it was a good thing. Character models were extremely smooth curved and character(s) animation was improved greatly for final version just in few feeks, as Rare was able to use their latest technology during character change.

    I recall this time being a gamer, everyone had a PS1 and the N64 had a trickle of games coming through… awesome games I would add. The pressure was on Nintendo and Sega, Sony had more or less stolen the console market and countless developers and PS2 hype was real. Funny to look back now, I feel the Dolphin or GameCube more appealing than any of the consoles which ended up being released and it’s the only one I come back to and still play, even though it didn’t sell as many as Nintendo wanted.
