Designed and built his First Backhoe Attachment in 1953 Following a visit to Norway, there he noticed a Broyt. Trailer- type backhoe of crude design And thought about improving the Design. He bought one and had it shipped to his Factory That same year his own version appeared. In 1954 he brought out a much- improved and heavier- Designed backhoe. It was for Fordson Major Tractor's. The two companies came together, the first J.C.B. was born. Mr. Bamford. Would say why would anyone want to not have a backhoe without the front end loader. He strongly encouraged SALES of Machines with both attachments. We all look at CASE in 1957 as building a first Construction King the ( CK) backhoe. But let's not forget J.C.B. in 1958 set the standard for Loader- backhoe industry by bringing out it's FIRST completely integrated Loader- backhoe built as a excavation machine. 1964 makes the new directions that J.C.B. would take with FIRST fully revolving crawler excavator. The machine was manufactured under license from Warner& Swasey's American HOPTO design. First bucket size. .75 cubic yards. The power plant was a 96 horsepower engine. Built by FORD. So the partnership between J.C.B. and FORD was strong in those early years. Doing a lot of work together to make what we see today. Wish there were more Dealerships in the west of USA. The dancing Diggers is a must see act that J.C.B. does at all big construction Expos, or big new product design roll outs. There side entrance for skid steers is a great move forward for safety of operator's. There NEW small track ( 1CXT) Is a amazing small tracked Loader- backhoe Design.
They cycle as good as a JS by the look of these obviously they have been fully restored. No sloppy bushing or worn pins like if you have ever seen any old farm yard 814s😂
Fair play lovely example and a lot of hard work went into restoring it no need for negative comments might not be the best machine on the market at the time still good to see 👍🏼
My dad has one of these the 805B turbo, It's a good machine and we're giving it a mechanical refresh and tidy up but one drive is very lazy. I think the swivel hub is leaking internally but I cannot source parts for it. JCB just don't want to know. If anyone can tell me where I might get parts for it in the UK I'd be grateful. the machine in the video is a superb restoration, nice to see one in this condition.
Those older machines were used a lot for drainage work. The holes allowed water to drain out the sides of the bucket when clearing vegetation out of existing drains.

Why did the Power Slide system never catch on?
I’d imagine it would be another point of failure that would wear quite a bit over time and you’d get some slop in the boom.
It was much easier than changing from speed to power mode and vice versa.
