I freakin LOVE the design of this helmet! I would even like to wear it just on the street, like a casual "hat" or something, that would be hilarious! Unfortunately, this piece of awesomeness is clearly expensive, so it's highly unlikely that I would be able to afford it anytime. Moreover, I just don't have any storage space to put it there, not even on a shelf (because our shelves are too small for it). Also, could you imagine manifacturing full-on combat versions of these, using bulletproof metals and kevlar and stuff? That would be soo awesome and badass!
Terrific review! I've also got the SRU and you need a high mount for a red dot and/or a tracer unit (I use both). Is the helmet worth it? Yes, especially when you hear the BB's pinging off it which otherwise would have been cracking into your forehead! I also fitted an Ex-fog to it to compliment the built in the internal fans and I have zero problems with fogging- none. It's simply a great piece of kit.
@@pewpewpaladin Yes, I have and I am tempted but it's essentially just a facemask! I've seen War Q's being used so that's probably the one I'd get next but my SRU is just too cool, works a treat and will do for now.
Thanks man. I'd have to say the SRU pips the WARQ in terms of looks for me. But WARQ offer all those customisable options when buying from their website..you can end up with something that fits the rest of your gear perfectly. Kinda feels like building your own scuf controller...
You'll have no problem with glasses, as long as they are not overly chunky frames.. As far as paintball goes, the Helmet would likely work fine and protect from impact - although with the vents for the fans etc and all the little nooks and detailed cut-outs in the helmet, I'm not sure how suitable it would be.. I doubt the fans would work for long if they took in paint.. plus I'd hate to imagine the paint then potentially being spread across the inside of the visor and potentially your eyes.. I'd have to say no.. I wouldn't recommend it for paintball.
I kinda want one, as they're in stock now with a gold lens - however, ive heard they're not full seal - is that correct? It looks to me that it is but yknow
There is plenty of adjustment. As you draw it down over your head, it might seem alittle snug, but it's very roomy inside once in place. All the straps have plenty of adjustment too, so I really couldn't forsee it being a problem..
Its available in the UK from patrolbase. However, if you buy direct from SRU they have a wide selection of coolness on their website and you can even use the promo-code Paladin at checkout for 10% off all items 😉
depends on the item I think mate. Its unlikely to be as cost effective as getting it from patrolbase unless its more than just the helmet you're after but always worth checking out on their website.
@@Lowe2476 Not currently, but I've spoken to them previously and I believe it is something they are planning on adding in upcoming shipments - when that will be I have no idea though.
Ear protection would be limited to ear buds and headsets would just be simple in ear system such as beofang etc. However, the a look at the HEL-P3 design that SRU do.. on that model you can remove the built in fans and you'd be able to replace with standard stuff that affixes to your helmet
I do indeed - but I can't promise it will be ready for the weekend. I'm somewhat tied up with other work at the minute - should certainly be out by around this time next week!
Thanks! Ot actually comes in 3 pieces - the main helmet (complete with fans), the jaw, and the visor. Really easy to assemble, just click everything together and fix in place with the six screws provided.
@@pewpewpaladin Have jus placed my order for a green one, I was originally gonna go for the WarQ, but like you, I think the SRU looks a lot better than the WarQ. Cheers again for the review, and the answers to my questions.
Hey there, my visor fails to open quite often, do you have any tips on solving that issue please? (I have opened and closed it perhaps 100 times to try and break it in, but it still sticks. Cheers, Nick.
Best thing would be to identify the points of contact that look to be causing the issue and rub them down with some wet-n-dry sandpaper. Use a really fine grain, as you're not looking to remove too much material and certainly don't want visible gouges.
@@pewpewpaladin many kind thanks buddy, I gave it a sand with some 1200 grit paper and also tightened all the screws on the helmet. It sticks if the helmet screws are loose, and there is wiggle room between the helmet sections. After the sanding & tightening, it is better at opening with only the odd stick. Thanks again buddy!!!
not a black one as far as I'm aware. I know they now do a yellow lens option you can purchase direct from the SRU website. Might be possible to tint the lens yourself using the same stuff they use to tint car windows - although I'm pretty sure it might compromise your visibility in low-light situations.
Could be subliminal - I've put a drop shock patch in the thumbnail. But I totally agree with you, it was the first thing that came to mind when I saw it too

Pretty cool man. I've been considering the WARQ helmet, but this seems like a good competitor and puts a damper in my decision making...lol

Would these be good for paintball?
Also could these fit glasses?

Do they send other color lenses?

Because its a helmet there is a gap at the chin. They'd have to put a barrel up under your jaw to get anything in though.
@@pewpewpaladin thank you for the reply; I have armor I usually put around my neck/jaw anyway.
What about people with bigger heads would you be able to still put it on

Can you actually wear it in games though? Doesn't it have to be full seal on your eyes?
Yes, I've worn it on plenty of occasions. Full seal isn't necessary as it covers 100% of your face.
What battery bank do you suggest?
Smaller the better, just for ease of use and carrying etc. These fans don't suck up much juice at all, so find something small and cost effective.
But late to the party here, are there any ear pro / headsets that will fit underneath one of these helmets
