I'd also like to mention that I didn't know at the time of originally recording this guide that you can reach this boss by completing White Mask Varre's questline. Varre is the first NPC you encounter in the game at The First Step site of grace. Finishing his questline requires online play, as you have to successfully invade 3 times. You don't have to kill your opponent, you just have to get into their worlds with a successful invasion. After you complete his questline, he'll give you an item that teleports you to Mohgwyn Dynasty. You can do this all before reaching the capital, as the questline ends in Liurnia.
So to sum up, memorize all his move sets in each of his phases, dodge and hold shield up at the exact right times to avoid getting hit, in other words, git gud.

As a few others have said you don't need the medallion to get there. You receive the item to teleport straight there after completing the side quest of 3 invasions and dying the cloth in maidens blood.
I did that. But now I'm stuck, how do I get out? I cannot beat the boss yet
@@PSBuru it should just allow you to teleport back. If you can't see the the graces on your map try clicking in the stick to reveal above ground graces.
@@PSBuru with R3 you can change the map to see the overworld again.
You should be able to teleport back again

Fun fact! Right at that first point of Grace (19:00) when you enter Mohgwyn just over the cliff on the left side is a big bird, you can shoot at it and run back, it falls off the cliff and free 13k points. Happy rune farming!

i totally missed mohg and fought him when i was totally over leveled. he still was not very easy. i cannot imagine how to kill that boss at lower levels. its a beast.
I don't know if I was over levelled but if you have a bleed build with two swords and you summon the mimic tear you literally beat down any boss and that's what I did with Mogh on my second try

10/10 guide. I was stuck on him for 2 days searching up how to beat him as pure melee, then I stumbled upon this video. Your advice to stay close to him and dodge through his bloodflame claw was all I needed, didn’t know you were supposed to dodge though that thing. Ez dub in a couple of tries

Hey y’all you don’t need to do the giant quest to get to the boss, if you find the dude who you talked to at the very start of the game, right out of the tutorial gate, in Liurnia he’s got a small quest and gives you a medallion to teleport there. It’s a really easy and quick way to get there instead of the more long winded albinurac way.
Yeah I did his quest long before even getting to the capital. Had mohg handled before capital even haha

There's a much easier way to get to him if you do the "varre white masks" questline. After completing some of his mission's he'll give you the "pureblood knight's medal" and it will transport you to Mohgwyn.

if you progress the quest of the beginning white mask guy , which will be located in the church bottom of the academy (Rose church? idk the name in English). He will give you an item to teleport straight to the map of the palace.
He only appears their after clearing stormveil castle.
You also have to invade 3 people with bloody fingers(he will give them to you)

Even in New game Plus is damage is terrifying I decided to not play a mage for New game Plus and go for like a heavy sword build using the ruins greatsword this man had me dying a whole lot before I finally killed them scariest thing about him it for sure is his damage

This one is my fifth runebearer fight and easily the most challenging so far. Got about an hour into it so far, pushing P2 consistently now. He is super punishing though, but good fun. Thanks for the tips!

Had more issues fighting this boss than I did with Malenia
I figured there had to be some way around that blood aoe he does, but did not want to spoil anything by looking it up before beating him.
I got here pretty early but managed to beat him by healing through it and getting the help of black knife Tiche.

thank you for this video the fight description wasn’t gonna help me so what I ended up doing was using Azur’s comet with the infinite magic and a +10 mimic and with mohg’s shackle I ended up getting him down past 75% before the 2nd transformation and just used my healing when he was trying to one shot kill me with the stuff coming from above and just used Azurs comet again while my mimic distracted him. thank you for the description vid

going to try this method soon. I had NO IDEA he even had a Shackle lol. His 2nd phase made me lose my mind.
he is the hardest boss up to this point in my opinion. I've been trying for 2 hours and its is the most one hit or no damage deaths i've had. I get to phase 2 rarely and immediately die. U are a legend to be able to make this look so easy.
Ye I'm able to go pretty much hitless on first phase, but then get insta 1 shot on his second phase. So difficult

Somehow at around 20 % hp he got stuck on those tombstones at teh right side ,so it was free hit for me on last part, lol. Was helpful since I was running low on flasks, also a message got appraised which healed me when I was getting hammered.
Just a note you can still get the tear even if you didn't do all of Yura's quest, last time I talked to him was under that bridge ruin where you encounter the 1st dragon of the game. He still spawned on the Mountaintop of the Giants for me and when you exhaust his dialog the NPC in the second church will spawn and you can get the tear and weapon.
If exhausting his dialog doesn't work the only other thing I can think is that you have to get to the consecrated grounds or haligtree. I haven't fought Melania yet, but I'm at the part just past Loretta.

You can get there pretty early (after killing godrick) if you follow Varré's Quest. Just wondering because you said its not possible to get there before Leyndell? I understand you said its to do Yura's quest and kill Mohg without getting shredded. Anyway love your vids and guides keep it up :)
@@EntityWithEmpathy you can turn the bloody eyes off - go to Fia's room in Roundtable Hold. Use the Mirror go to the eye option and switch "Eye Alteration" to off

You dont even need to kill Godrick you can just go around the Castle using the secret shortcut
@@carlosgonzalezfernandez3806 Varre doesn't move until you specifically kill Godrick so unfortunately you do have to kill him and Margit.
this helped a lot. combined with mimic tear, i beat him on my second try.
Tbh I love the mohg fight but I needed up having to use a spirit since my build was with a slow weapon so I repeatedly would get destroyed in phase 2
Slow weapon can be done, just not a slow roll lol.
man I feel ya. I'm trying not to use spirit ashes but as a pretty much pure strength build with a colossal sword I hate the second phase on this boss. I get no leeway to use my ash of war to get more damage in so I have to rely on roll and r1 and even then the bloodflame ticks and I usually die of bleed.
That chain move I didn’t know it existed , I got his HP to his lord name 😭
Thx for this, im tryn to beat him without cheese and hes prob killed me 100x. The hardest part is learning his 2nd phase attacks because im never in that phase long enough. And the big health regain is infuriating.
I didn't get a 2nd phase when I fought him normally. I also used a bleed build that killed him less then 20 - 30 seconds

got it in a few tries after i found the physick item. for anyone struggling, i realized that adula's moonblade does insane damage to him close range after i ran out of estus
Adula's Moonblade is the best spell against regular omen, makes sense it works against Mohg too
This fight took me literally 20 seconds, I just walked in summoned mimic and absolutely clapped the boss with a level 10 bloodhound's sword. No second phase pop because I slapped him into a stagger at 50 percent and just slapped him in the face till he died. Might be that I waited till after I'd already killed Malenia who by comparison makes every other boss look weak
Malenia is by far the hardest souls boss for me so far. Makes orphan of kos, Isshin, midir, etc. all look like child’s play.. hardest part about her fight is that ONE flurry attack she does that seems undodgeable, and the fact that she heals after EVERY hit. If she didn’t heal after every attack she would be a easy ass boss, or if she didn’t have that flurry attack she would just be an average difficulty boss. But goddamn man... those 2 things make her hell.
then maybe try the game without cheating (spirit ashes) and youll find fun in a challenge, i dont get why people choose to make this game trivial if they paid 60 bucks for it. boss dies in 20 sec no prob ez mode you can say that to every single boss in the game if you summon spirit ashes especially the mimic.
@@Lastwill20 lmao how is spirit summoning “cheating” if it’s an intended part of the game.. if it was cheating they wouldn’t have added the system. Also this game has many many many broken weapons, even without using spirits you can trivialize most bosses with powerstance greatswords, powerstance katana, sword of night and flame, blasphemous blade, etc.

FYI i was very irritated because i couldn't get to that north side of the bridge as the bridge is broken and the drop is an instant kill. I wen to the second church of Marika and instead fought invader Elenora who gave me the tear.

You could try using the ekzykes decay incantation. The fight is still ridiculously hard but the scarlet rot helps by slowly chipping away mohg's health

Dude, i blasted this boss so easily with the sword of flame and shield and with my mimic summon, hats off to you for killing him the old fashioned way. You're a master in your craft .
Same here I just stood back and let my mimic do all the fighting as I blasted him with the blue light
I just used dual greatswords & Mimic and killed him in less than 20 seconds. He didnt even get to go into phase 2.

Lord of blood is one of those bosses with very weird balancing. With a summon he’s one of the easiest main bosses in the game, but without a summon he’s among the top 5 hardest fights in the game.

Hopefully a Malenia guide will be coming soon, I’ve been stuck on that boss for a few days now. Her lifesteal + flurry attack in phase 1 is so hard for a melee build. Her phase 2 dive bomb one shots are insane as well

I used bloodhound fang against her with mimic tear ashes +10. She was relatively easy. Was level 135

Phenomenal video. However as soon I remember I had his shackle I killed him in like 30 seconds...completely skipped the second phase.
This was the last boss I fought on my playthrough, beat him easily on level 166 after dying dozens of times to malenia
Just the purified crimson tear made all the difference, I didn’t use the Psysicks before so I never would have found out on my own thank you.

Their is a quest you do for an NPC that gives you an item to travel straight to here. (the place where you get the map and grace)
Is there any reason not to shug the crystal tear right away? It last like 3 minutes, and I don't think it helps you last. I like to put it with it the defense tear, or with the inf. FP so I can get a lot of buffs before enter.
if you do the quest at rose church in lurania you get a medal that takes you to mohgwhyn palace
You can just find elanora at the church anyway without doing that quest and she drops the item. Also you can just kill the samurai guy when you first meet him for the katana. You only miss out on the smithing stone 5.

man and i say it again, the Legacy of Simon's Quest always lived strong in most of this FROM games

A high level 'mimic' summon made all the difference for me. Tried countless times over a few days and could get him to 40-50% health easily but that second half had me doing almost no damage at all and I ended up 'resorting' to using a summon for it, lol.
I found ruins great sword and mimic were my best set up for defeating him. I had the godfrey icon on and eardtree favor. Without the need for shackles
I used a plus 10 mimic tear with bleeding/poison axes power stanced, royal remains armor, and my strongest seal. Cast blood flies over and over while the mimic fights him, jump in and power stance attack him when it’s a good opportunity. Trying to apply poison and help build bleed from the flies. Just make sure when he gets to phase 2 and heals up that you heal yourself before dying from the 3 siphon attacks that can’t be dodged or blocked
Few tips not given here. For second phase.
(If you doing this very low level as i did without shield)
When he plunges his pitchfork down, you want to dodge roll the explosion into Mohg, there is a timing & its not too bad. Basically as the trident is blowing up, roll into him then get 2 swings or so off.
*When he is going to ram you with his spinning trident, diagonally aim for him armpit. You want to go under his weapon arm(behind him), its very forgiving & the timing can be off. Start your first roll early if your worried, then just hit another.
Finally, as he is is sweeping his fork side to side, if your moveing towards one side of the platform, as soon as you dodge his flaming sweep, change direction. If you keeping moving the same way you will eventually walk over his flames. Even if fire resistance is high, blood loss build up at the wrong moment means death.
I skilled A LOT before this fight and ended up killing him first try lol nice vid!

You can also reach the palace with an item Varre gives you. If you want to go earlier.
You do not need to get the lift key to access this boss. If you do the two finger starting guy's pvp quest, you can run straight there.
you can get to this boss even before Radhan, just do the NPC outside The First Step (forget the name) questline, the one where he needs you to invade another worlds three times, and soak a piece of cloth on the blood of a maiden. he will give you an item that teleports you to this area.
You’d get clapped if you fight him that early 😂
Out of all the bosses, Mohg and Malenia is the only few that scarred me, just for using Strength weapons

Are you able to burn the arm that summons mohg. Gideon mentions burning it so I wonder if there’s something I’m missing.
You do not need both Haligtree pieces you just need the Pureblood Knights Medal, you can get it from White Faced Varre after defeating Godrick

There is currently a way to cheese this boss by being able to jump into the arena without going through the door. It prevents his AI from working and you can just keep attacking him till he dies. You get all the rewards like normal. Only do this if you just hate the boss, but its Elden Ring, play how you want to!!!

A simpler way to get ger here is to do vares questline and when completed he rewards you with the pureblood night medal and when you use it, it automatically takes you the place where you run up the stairs
