    I think most of the people look these videos on youtube just purpose of recalling the classes in school but in your videos we are learning so thank you sir.

    The clearest explanation I've seen on this topic.

    This is a wonderful explanation. My professor for diff eq is great but he didn't thoroughly explain this. Had I watched this video two weeks ago before my exam I probably would've got a 100 but I was happy with a 90. Thank You!

    by "repetition," he meant that the initial guess has similar term/s with the y_c. hope this helps hehe

    Even looking in my textbook it just seems like they expect you to know what these are already and just wanted someone to explain, even my for dummies book didn't explain it. Thank you!
    Do you have a video on how to find s in t^s, I'm running into the same issue right now.

    What about xSinx as R.H.S ..... what will bw yp then?

    For the last question, shouldn't we multiply the whole equation by x^2 since there r two repeats?

    • @TheMathSorcerer
      @TheMathSorcerer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Just x is needed. The repetition was due to the cosx and sinx terms so multiplying everything by x got rid of the cosx and sinx terms in yp

    Thanks a lot!!! But one thing, Can you please explain this,
    1)if y"+y=3sin(2t)+t cos(2t); and Yc=C1cosx+C2sinx , then Yp= ???
    I'm really very confused about this problem.

    • @sanjhsolanki2419
      @sanjhsolanki2419 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure but ig it should be,
      Asin2t + Bcos2t +(Ct+D)cos2t + (Et+F)Sin2t

    • @carultch
      @carultch ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The yp in your example, would have to contain sin(2*t), cos(2*t), t*sin(2*t), and t*cos(2*t). Since the diffEQ can shift the phase and amplitude, you always set up a cosine to go with your sine, and vice versa, for every new frequency you have, and for every t-power out in front you have. If it contained t^2*sin(2*t), and even if it didn't have t*sin(2*t) or its cosine counterpart, you'd still have to build the power to 2, and include t*sin(2*t) and t*cos(2*t) in your prototype for your particular solution.
      If you have overlap with any terms from your complimentary solution, you get a resonance between the terms, that introduces the terms with a t out in front.
      So the particular solution would be:
      yp = A*cos(2*t) + B*sin(2*t) + C*t*cos(2*t) + D*t*sin(t)
