Hi Stephan - do you have a video - or can you make one - discussing your plucked stringed instruments and the time periods/places they were used in historically?
Thanks! Mid-East Manufacturing sells the "lute-kulele" (which I call a "mandora") through their web-site, and they are based in Florida (I think). They also sell strings for it, but I'm using the La Bella "4-course renaissance guitar" strings, and I think they help give it a very 'authentic' sound.
Thanks so much! I found them. :) I've heard others that might have been the same model (or, at least, very similar), but didn't sound half as nice. Those strings make all the difference.
Thanks for your videos. I love your playing. I wish some day I’m able to play, but right now, I can’t even tune the 4 course lute I just purchased. I’ve seen here in TH-cam that some people use some kind of wax to help the pegs to stay in place. Any advice? Here, in Mexico, I have not met any lutheist at all. I feel totally lost 😢
Hi Patricio! Yes, that is the "lute-kulele," and I do tune it like a ukulele, but the G is a low one, not a re-entrant octave tuning. The uke tuning also happens to be an authentic renaissance four-course guitar tuning, too!
This is exactly how i picture a lute player to look, great playing!
Smiply sounds so great... best wishes for you from Kolkata
You're the man Stefan! Good stuff, always love listening.

Hi there! I don't have an 'introductory' video, but that is something that I'd like to do sometime soon.
Who else came here after reading The Name of the Wind to see if it really was possible to play 4 strings on a lute?
Your mandora has a wonderful sound and you play it so well! Can you recommend a good place to find one here in the States?

Are your fret markers movable?
+Stefan Dollak. Interesting video. Is that a Lute-kulele? If so, do you tune it like a ukulele? Great job, btw.---Patricio

Is there tablature available for this?
Lute-kuleles are awesome!
Wow great job man! Do you know a cheap place where I can get a 4 course lute like that.
Sometimes these "lute-kuleles" show up on eBay at wholesale prices. Always worth a look!
Stefan Dollak thanks dude.
