There was never a village as such at this spot. Niton Undercliff is further east, south of Niton. The old Blackgang road had dwellings on much laterthan the 1928 landslip but they fell victim to mch later movement. The images from your drone show building from much later than 1928 - one appears to have a corrugated asbestos roof which would not have been the case then. The area is both interesting and stunning but probably better not to make up bits to make it more intersting like a "lost village".

Discovered your channel by accident today and subscribed immediately. Reminds me of my own walks taken in the south of the island. Can you please say what the great music is in this particular video.

There used to be a nudest village up on the top of that path back in the 70’s, it was a big camp site and the beach was just part of the whole complex.

I’ve done some walking on IoW . Yes everything vertically up or down . I was carrying backpack for the week but the views , amazing .
And where they have steps ( chimney steps ) well even those aren’t easy . Thank you for your video 😀

I think they may be later buildings, possibly from the nudist camp that was there. (I could be wrong though) There was a massive slip during the winter of 76 and several since that have left a lot of ruined and abandoned buildings. The clay is known locally as Blue Slipper. Nice footage.

Thank you. We thought they might be later from the windows but weren’t close enough. Amazing local knowledge. Loving learning all the history.

The road to the village of Blackgang may have been cut off in 1928 but it remained as a culde sac until a second fall on the other side from Windy Corner above Rocken End cut it off from both sides trapping several cars there which are obviously later models including a Ford Anglia. Don't try climbing up from the beach but from the sides from Blackgang Cine or Rocken Rnd.

Love it, you have a new subscriber. I’m fascinated with this bit of the island, and you’ve inspired me to take my drone over there. Cute dogs too!

Thank you. We find ourselves returning to this spot over and over. The dogs know it too!!!

Those cabins are the only ones remaining from the old Southview Holiday Camp. Everything else is buried and well under shrubbery / growth. I've never attempted it but there is a way in but you would need good protective clothing and some secateurs before you start to attempt to get through. Then you should find remains of the old Southview Coach House and part of the old road which will now be about 6 inches wide (guestimate).

Thank you so much for that. We will attempt to get there at some point this year. It’s a bit wet at the moment and the risk of land slips is quite high. We might attempt it in the early spring before there is too much new growth on the plants.

Be careful - it's right under Gore Cliff - entry from the car park, climb over the fence and head towards the 'mound of earth', go over it and the other side will be full of shrubs. The road is under there somewhere - traces of it. You may not now be able to get through due to brambles, etc but I saw a kid and his kid coming out in summer 2022 - after all the rain then.
I wouldn't be surprised if there's another cliff-fall / landslide at Gore Cliff very soon - maybe even as late as spring or summer - after all this rain.

That cliff is very steep and full of weeds and bramble and tree roots. Anyone would be out of breath. I know as I've been there .....

The far end of Yaverland beach , which meets Sandown beach also hosts some Summertime nudists .
It's the quiet end of Yaverland , where a number of largish boulders are scattered around the sand .🏝️
It's a great beach for taking the dogs , as dogs are allowed all year round .😊

Absolute load of rubbish & false information. There was never a village between Windy Corner & Blackgang. A road, yes, a naturist reserve the remains shown in the drone images but a village no.

Just a phrase Peter. Not really something to get so upset about. Other comments have mentioned a nudist “village” thank you for your comment though. Would be interested to know what the address was for those houses? Was there a town named maybe or just “random rd, Isle of Wight”?? Have a fab day.

Don’t know who you are mate, but you sound as if you need to see a doctor to investigate as to WHY you are so out of breath with a bit of rambling on the beach & cliff side. You could be experiencing advanced heart problems. Take care, life can be awful short.

If you knew this area, you wouldn't call is a "bit of rambling on the beach & cliff side". It's very hard work to get down to the beach, and the film didn't show that - I got down there once, 20 years ago: I wouldn't dare attempt it now - even getting to the way down to the beach is a trek through mud, bramble, shrub, and unstable ground.
