  • Fuel Pump Replacement on 2004 Nissan Sentra. It took me awhile to figure out that the fuel pump was going bad. CEL-Check engine light code P0171 fuel system lean bank 1. You will least suspect the fuel pump, but I went through 3 pump. sometimes the car would randomly cut off while driving or stutter. The pressure should be approximately 53 PSI, however there is a pressure loss causing the code. I have disassemble the pump and found an oring that was pinched. there was a TSB issued, however it was never a recall.

    Hey thanks this was very helpful with how to purge the line. You are the first I have found that actually show how to do this without extra tools.

    After replacing the fuel pump, can we reinsert the fuse into the fuse box while the car is off, then reconnect the battery, and finally turn the car on normally? Or am I missing something?

    yes indeed, i'm starting to suspect fuel pump on my sentra 2005 and P0171 code. nothing has resolved the issue......And it was. wasted weeks troubleshooting leaks and MAF and O2 junk. the problem was no way to measure fuel pressure on sentra 2005. can't disconnect the fuel line with any tools on market.

    How did u know it was the fuel pump that need replacing, my car’s misfiring in the third cylinder and someone said fuel pump and someone said compression
    , but look at the fuel pump would that specifically cause my third cylinder to misfire?

    • @BARR8323

      I don’t think so. You can check the fuel pressure under the hood with a fuel pressure gauge.

    So since you didn't show it, I guess after putting fuse back in you have to cycle the the key a couple times before starting correct?

    • @BARR8323
      @BARR8323  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, since the fuel is empty, it takes a slightly longer to prime the line, you know when it’s prime because you hear the pump stop.

    I had fuel pump replaced recently. A month later my fuel guage is stuck in F top position. Doesn't seem to go down. Code came up later as PO461 on my OBD. My question is the Fuel float the black thing on the Fuel pump in this video? If not, is the float part of the Fuel pump they replaced? (warranty)

    I'm getting code P0171 on my 2006 Sentra, and I've seen on TH-cam there are alot of other possible reasons for getting this code. How did you come to the conclusion that it was the fuel pump that needed to be replaced?

    • @BARR8323
      @BARR8323  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because I did all the others first, and didn’t fix the issue. The I finally checked the fuel pressure ant it was week.

    • @Bigbopperairguns
      @Bigbopperairguns ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can usually fix P0171 using the following steps:
      Replace the fuel pump or fuel filter.
      Change the fuel pressure regulator.
      Replace the powertrain control module.
      Change one or more injectors.
      Replace one or more oxygen sensors.
      Change the mass airflow sensor.
      Repair vacuum leak.

    CAN SOMEONE PLEASE tell me where the fuel pump relay is located for sentra 2006 ?

    • @BARR8323
      @BARR8323  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This vehicle don’t have a pump relay, it don’t have a fuel filter. It has a 15A fuse under the dash driver’s side in the fuse box

    • @frankmontez6853
      @frankmontez6853 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BARR8323 it does and tested / replaced it. I bench tested it no click nothing. I replaced it with the relay from parking neutral relay from relay box under the hood. That ones clicking it but still no gas comes out of the line which I disconnected. The line right by the fire wall. Isn't it supposed to? Is there something I'm missing? I'm going to try check the gas coming right out of the pump / tank.

    • @BARR8323

      I stand corrected, searched my entire relay box under the hood and fuse box and couldn’t find one on mine. But did a google search and they show one on the driver side kick panel.Did you check the fuse? If you have a multimeter you can check the wire at the pump to see if you power, if you have power then the pump is bad. IF no power start working your way back to the fuse and so on. I found the location here www.2carpros.com/questions/2004-nissan-sentra-relay-switch--2

      Yes, if you don’t have a multimeter, you can rig up a 12v bulb and check power at the harness plug at the tank
