wait... Kyou and Kagami both means Mirror... Kyou Fujibayashi from Clannad shares some similar characteristics, personality and relationship as Kagami Hiiragi from Lucky Star. Kyou is a Tsundere and she has long violet hair and is paired with her twin sister Ryou which has short hair and has a Dandere type of personality. Kagami is also more of a Tsundere type in the show and she has long purple hair which is a li'l lighter like lavender and is paired with her twin sister Tsukasa which has short hair and also has a Dandere type of personality. Coincidence? I THINK NOT! HELLO INTERNET! WELCOME TO ANIME THEORY!
So,nobody noticed the nickname they used for Kagami (Kyou-chan) is the name of one of the Clannad purple-haired twins which, coincidentally, was released around the same time-frame as the Lucky Star manga began? Dunno if a coincidence or not that they used THAT name for a nickname. Also, I still have to argue how big of a coincidence does it have to be for both Lucky Star and Clannad to have purple haired twins (both being a subdued little sister and a tsundere older sister at that). I mean, the Lucky Star manga came first but only barely as Clannad was released just 3 months after Lucky Star began being released, and both anime shows were animated the same year (2007). That's one hell of a coincidence.
I bet that you're right. VN Clannad has been released in 2004, manga Lucky Star has STARTED in 2004 and there is not only the first volume of it in the anime. And Lucky Star is a parody anime. Also, in Clannad my favourite is Kyou and in Lucky Star my favourite is Kagami. Coincidence? I don't think so.
Kagami-sama sounds like a mouthful so would it really be a fitting nickname? How about mimi-chan? as in 'ears' because of her long hair looking like bunny ears. Plus her name is KagaMI :3
"Lady Kagami" might be a tad bit, how do I put it... off center? When I hear "Kagami-sama," and see the characters' reactions to the name, my mind kinda, sorta drift more towards it being closer to "Mistress Kagami."
Kagami's nickname can be... Kaga -san/-chan/-kun Gami -san/-chan/-kun Mimi -san/-chan/-kun Kyo -san/-chan/-kun Usa -san/-chan/-kun (reference from when Konata said Kagami will be a rabbit as animal) Mi -san/-chan/-kun Hm.. Other suggestions?
tbh I don't know anywhere close to enough Japanese language or culture to get most of the joke here (the last '-sama' one makes sense, the rest not so much). What is funny or strange or embarrassing about the kanji reading for 'Kyou'? Or 'Hi' ('hihi)? What is their double meaning?
Not really, you just have a lot of options since you can use different readings of a kanji, cut a bit of the name change consonants around (kaga) (habapa). The funny thing is that just like in this example the one being called by a nickname can often not recognize it because it differs so much from the original verbally (kagami kyou) For the same reason when you order stuff at food stands that use the system of calling your name when your stuff is done, they specifically say you should write your name in hiragana or katakana (syllable writings)

Literally every moment in this anime is memorable.
Even the ones with small roles
Ah yes, my favorite character.
*Sebastian Shiraishi.*
That "oi" at both 1:05 and 1:28 are adorable!
Throwing on that "sama" was much more embarrassing than she first expected.
I've watched three clips of this show and they're all so wholesome and adorable! I need to try this one.
I like the way she asked if Sebastian wanted revenge
kona chan is so cute
Hi-chan works on another level, because Tsukasa is the more "sunny" of the twins.

no, it was not coincidence there story behind it Hiiragi twins and Fujibayashi twin.
of course not, clannad anime from 2004, which its visual novel come in 2003,
i wont surprise if the creator of lucky star took the idea from there
The Lucky Star manga was release ealier than Clannad VN tho.

Eh, it's possible. Just look at the US and UK "Dennis The Menace". They released on the SAME DAY.
But the Manga of Lucky Star was earlier than the game of Clannad
