Well i followed all your instructions. But left out sd card. Cant get M5 to start. I formated 8g sd card to fat32 and put it in then retried instructions shows it flashed but cant turn it on.
After following the steps my M5 stack doesn't power on anymore. If you listen to it closely you can hear very faint, rhythmic beeps, but no power to the display and it's basically a paperweight. I tried these steps on Windows and Linux. It flashes successfully but then nothing happens. I tried with and without an SD card inserted. Using the factory cable (brand new unit). Battery is fully charged. Does anyone have ideas? The errors in VS are related to depreciated libraries. But I am clueless with this platform. Plz send help
Great video……got all the way to where I upload to he M5Stack…..the computer is not seeing it. How must the M5Stack be set up when it’s plugged into the computers USB port..
@TalkingSasquach Any thoughts on why a few of these black screen on boot after flashing? I see a few people having this issue.

As someone who uses a Flipper Zero, Pwnagotchi, and a wearable M5StickC Plus I’ve been looking to see if there’s an alternative to the pwnagotchi that would give me similar results. Gonna have to try this now, thanks for the not so secret Santa idea to myself haha.
Planning to start with one of these, which one would you recommend?
@@kevaguilera7482 Personally I’d start with a Flipper Zero. The amount of things it can do opens up a ton of possibilities and there’s not just one thing it’s good at like some of the other devices I’ve used. The Pwnagotchi is cool but it’s a one trick pony and the same goes for the M5StickC Plus it’s really cool and I actually wear mine as a watch but it’s mostly the equivalent of any standard ESP32 but in a very small form factor. Again I’d just start with the flipper and get a dev board along with it, those two purchases alone will give a ton of different things you can do all in one package.

Hi i want to buy the m5stack cores3 can I add hash monster using your method as well . Or hash monster wont work with G4lile0 hash monster install method?
Works perfectly on my Fire. I can install it on my Core S2, then it starts after about 5 minutes. But when it's turned off, I can`t turn it on again.
And here I was using all my ESP32's for WLED wifi mesh setups! Yall been hacking the planet while I've been staring at my pretty lights :D 😅😂
I would like to see how the device works. I know next to nothing about it but that it can do some hacking on pcap.

Marauder is more powerful, but this is a little cheaper so its really up to you!!

i wish i had saved my edits to the source. i had some problems installing/getting this to run at all and then had some bugs. all i remember is that there is some weird shit going on in the code that executes when it first runs that i changed / deleted some of and now it works like a dream.
BE WARNED........, Ive installed this on my Fire 4 times, and every time it locks device up, black screen of death, research options and other cases, because I have not found one. If this happens to you, you will need to reinstall Alpha firmware

So its not much more then a wifi dev board.
The m5stick looks like alot of fun tho and dirt cheap.

Yeah i changed the environment default from M5Stack Fire to m5stack core2 just comment out the fire and not the core2

For anyone having issues with a black screen after uploading it and thinking it wasn't working, be patient! It took around 5 minutes or so for it to boot up into the application initially.
Mine also black screened, right after flashing...can't get it working..
Was your screen totally black during the 5min? Also did you single press pwr button to initiate boot?
My Core S2 doesn"t start again after turning off....
@TanCoyote1 Try fully dissipating the battery on the core/fire fully if possible. That ended up booting the unit properly when reattached the charger.
Exciting project! Got my M5Stack Fire ... all setup with Visual Studio Code & Paltformio ... clicked platformio.ini file ... and now stuck in a loop with message "Library Manager: looking for another mirror ...". DOH!!
Just redid everthing and all OK now, not sure what didn't do but working. All part of the fun. Cheers
I built a pwnagotchi using a Pi4b to deauth 2.4ghz a d 5ghz. Works way better than the flipper. Will this use dual band or just 2.4ghz?

@marcush8698 I think I used bettercap. But will confirm later.
The configuration.toml file didn't upload from firezilla correctly. I wrote the code in from SSH nano and that booted it up.
Not working on Core2, the SD card is never recognized

Yes, I've had mine running it more than a year now. Never had an issue. From my old notes, looks like I push it with Arduino IDE

Update: My fix was commenting out m5stack-fire and uncomment m5stack-core-esp32. This worked for my m5stack fire.
I changed the fire to core2 and got it to turn on. The front 3 toggle buttons don't seem to work though. When you changed to esp32, are you able to use the front buttons?
