My word of the year is Cocoon. I'm in the process of getting divorced and I maybe will have to to move this year even if I don't want to. I'm also autistic and I'm very protective over my personnal space, so I think this word is a good reminder to take care of a small personnal place to relax in, even if I can't control all the rest of my life.
My word of the year for 2024 is Power. Finding my inner power is something that I have been building towards in 2023, which is why I choose it for my WOTY.
Oh I like this idea! The idea of a word of the year has always seemed so weird to me since my life changes constantly, but I love this idea where it can focus on what's going on more seasonally. Thanks for sharing!
I love how words react differently with each person. Growth is my word for 2024, but felt much more impactful for me as clearly it did for you. As you say, everyone’s word is right for them, and hearing others dismiss ‘grow/growth’ has never felt like my choice has been bad or wrong. I look forward to seeing how your choice guides you next year!!! Thank you for all your content.rambling or not, its always amazing!
Yeah! Every person has their unique vocabulary that, even if the words are the same, the meaning we give them can be different. That's why I like to hear the "behind the scenes" of other people's _word of the year,_ their brainstorming and reasons behind the word. Also, some people choose verbs or adjectives as if to describe how they will approach the new year or how they want it to go, and other people choose nouns or things that describe that same feeling. People are interesting xD
Growth is a brilliant word! I have the song “from little things big things grow” running through my head. It makes me smile and fills me with hope and contentment. Have a great 2024. 🩷
I've chosen Care as my word of the year. I want to focus on self-care and doing with intentionally, or with care. I also have goals related to gratitude and showing others that I care for them.
This is also the word that I’ve come up with. I’m starting my first bullet journal. I’ve also recently started therapy. I’m hoping to take care of myself more this year, in so many ways; by the way that I speak to myself, to physical health, mental health, hygiene, care for my home and care for others. 🤍 I hope this upcoming year is a good one for you.
I didn't think I would choose a word of the year but watching this video and thinking of my goals, I suddenly knew it had to be ROOTS. I don't consider myself a person that has a home and since moving out of my mom's house six years ago and going no contact about a year ago, I don't really have a family anymore. I also broke up with my partner recently and will move into my first very own apartment in the new year. So it is very much about finding a place to live and making it my home, take root, so to speak. In a more poetic way it also relates to my other goals of getting physically stronger (like a tree with firm roots) and embracing my gender identity (taking a stand for myself and not moving for others), and it also fits my long-term goal of finding stability and safety in my life regarding my social life, career, financial and mental situation. I also feel like I have been up rooted many moons ago as a child and slowly withering away ever since, so finally taking root again, all by myself, without relying on somebody else, is exactly where I want future me to be. A strong tree with firm roots that won't be swayed easily.
I love this word! I was reminded of the scientific study that showed that trees that don't experience wind do not survive. Your post also made me think of the root chakra.
I've tentatively chosen abundance as my word of the year. this came from a good long brainstorm about what I'd like my 2024 to look like, and even if it's not money or material things, I do want to share what I have in the best way I know. Thank you for sharing Jess. Sending my best.
Chatty vlog videos are a yes. I'm gravitating towards two words this year. I can't decide between them and they keep popping into my mind. So probably going with two. My last two single word years have not gone as intended lol
When you were talking about the feeling good after a decision, I was thinking of the word "present" and I'm glad you chose "conscious" because it really suits your goals. I did 5 goals in 2022 and also in 2023, so I don't feel guilty if I don't achieve them. But this is a good idea to do to lessen my goals and be more concentrated with it 😁
Consistency and diligence resonates 100%with me and is something i am always struggling with. These 2 attributes are the essence of what lets us achieve our goals ( if its goals we have 100% influence over) ❤❤❤. Thank you!
My word for 2024 is emotions. I'm choosing the word of the year for the 2nd year in a row (after your video last year :)), but I do it a little differently. I set myself a topic I want to dig into, leave room for notes, and write down observations on that topic throughout the year. The word for 2023 was Recharge and I wrote down all the things that recharge me (sometimes quite unexpected). This allows me to get to know myself better. And it became interesting to understand emotions when I realized that I don’t always understand what exactly I feel at the moment and why. When I read why a person needs anxiety, I was surprised and it helped me cope with it.
My words for 2024 is Healing and Expression. Identifying and building up my inner person and finding ways to express that in the things I do and my environment.
I was always terrible at picking and sticking with a word, but this year I settled on Organize because it related to a lot of specific things I had going on in the first half of 2023 (and I made an unexpectedly cute spread for it). After that, I didn't really update my goals, but it was still a good mindset for me to refer back to. So for 2024, I'm going with Commitment, partly to carry over the good things from this year and partly because I'm working through "just because I can, doesn't mean I should" when taking things on, lol. I wanted to pick a really fun word, but I'm thinking of incorporating that into more quarterly intentions.
I feel that about sticking with a word. As Jess said, a lot of things can and do happen and change through the year... So the quarterly intentions do sound good. For you, are those intentions related to the word of the year or are they the substitute of it?
@@EnabiSeira I think I want to relate the quarterly intentions to reflect what I have going on but still relate to the word. I'm still working through it, but at the moment I'm thinking of "brand new" for Q1 because I have a birthday, travel, and some medical stuff going on. So I'm committing to my plans and taking care of myself, but I want to break out of some unconscious habits.
My word of the year for 2024 is Delight, and/or related words. This comes from having opened and unpacked some things after moving, and is a feeling I want to cultivate.
Im leanjng towards pride for 2 reasons: 1) im graduating from college next year, and my school's mascots are lions. So a pride of lions..pride..haha and 2) with college ending im gonna be starting my new careeer and i want to be aware of and appreciate the satisfaction of finally being in my chosen field!
I went with Sacrifice. I am back in school and need to make sacrifices to finish. I need to sacrifice to get in shape. And I need to make sacrifices to get my financials in order.
I'm thinking of the word indulge- it goes with depth year, romanticising life, simplicity, and paying attention to what I enjoy as I'm doing it, but not buying more or doing new things (i.e. depth year)
Waw Jess I have to tell you that your 2023 vlogmas serie is the BEST bujo vlogmas ever. Like really really good. I love your content, it brings me so much peace and cultivate (🤪) my desire to personally grow like you do. I did not choose my word of the year yet, but this is on my yearly reset plan! I definitely resonate with your choice though. Can’t wait for you next video!!
I chose my word a couple weeks ago: Aware. I need to remain aware of when I am doing too much and need to take a step back. It almost ended up being conscious but I just kept coming back to aware.
I think my word is going to be gold. Due mostly to the marina song about change and embracing it. But also trying to recapture the joy of childhood seeing my mother getting ready and putting on her gold jewelry before we headed out the door. Also of course it's monetary value as I'm interested in starting a small side business and maybe look into purchasing my first property. So i think it's going to be much more about me finding ways to make the word mean more to me than it currently does and exploring of all that could be Gold.
I’m teetering between Becoming and Arise. I’ve been in therapy for 2 years now and have reached a point where I’m more comfortable putting myself first and no longer ignoring my needs. I’m learning who I am and what I like again.
@@livingmybelovedlife8447 Once upon a time, I was a multi-creative. Years passed (I'm 50), family needs came to the fore (4 kids, 3 now adults), and creative hobbies fell away. I still have other responsibilities, obv, but I want to pick up some of the things I used to do - and not just the hobbies. So a renewal, revival, return to previous passions, innovation on multiple fronts seemed the perfect word - if a bit pretentious. 😉
Last year I didn't choose a word per se, but I did found a Tumblr post that described dandelions in a way that inspired me to keep up with uni (past years have been rough and I needed some motivation). This year, following up with the flower theme, I've chosen roses because the rose bushes in my backyard keep growing flowers all year long, and I admire that perseverance. This year I'm trying to work on my long term projects (something I've always struggled with). I wasn't planning on a word of the year, but this "podcast" of shorts made my brain consider it 😉👍
If someone is interested, the post went like this: _Dandelions symbolize everything I want to be in life: Unapologetic. Hard to kill. Feral, filled with sunlight, bright, beautiful in a way that the conventional and controlling hate but cannot ever fully destroy. Stubborn. Happy. Bastardous. Friends with bees. Highly disapproving of lawns. Full of wishes that will be carried far after I die._
I love the idea of choosing a flower! I also like how you called it a podcast of shorts. It helps me remember that a podcast doesn't have to be super long. Also each state in the United States has a state flower, rock, bird, animal etc and I'm wondering if I need to create these for myself.
@@emilielancour236 I have to admit that I'm not used to podcasts, so I don't know how long/short they tend to be 😅 but I like this type of videos that are most like "let's have a conversation" Also, I didn't know each state have all of those. Cool!
Thank you for all your thoughts on choosing a word of the year. I am setting up my first journal ever, and I am trying to be very intentional, without overthinking every little pen to paper. This will definitely help me to find a thoughtful theme, be it word, words, phrase or quote, that will keep me on a steady path to my own personal goals this year. Now to figure out what those goals are LOL.💜💜
@@JashiiCorrin I've been wanting to start a BuJo for several years. At the end of 2019 I bought one that was all set up to try it out so I could be more prepared to do one from scratch. I came across your channel then, but really didn't watch regularly at the time. I was doing pretty well using the one I bought, until I was laid off the day before lockdown was announced. After that I let it fall off as my mental health issues deteriorated. I've been doing better, and the last two years I have used datebooks for 2022 and this year (I'm a kpop fan and groups put a "season's greetings" set that usually includes one each year). Since I've been doing better with those, I thought I should finally do this, so the last few months I have been more diligently watching the channel and catching some of the lives. I spent what I could and got some of the Ohuhu dual tip markers and a set of black fine line pens, along with a couple of journals I got through Amazon. One was supposed to be used for doing tips-ins and such, but decided I would, instead, use it as the first one, and the pretty one I got will sit aside looking pretty until I feel like I know exactly what I want to use it for, LOL. I'll tag you on Insta when I put up the photos I'm taking as I decorate. Again, thank you for all the advise and insight you share here. It has been such a wonderful resource to get me out of my comfort zone of just thinking about it.
My word of the year is nurture. I want to be more mindful of taking care of my body and listening to when I'm overdoing things. Additionally I want to foster passions I have, and grow my own TH-cam channel.
I love this style of video. 👍 I have selected a word of the year for about 7 or 8 years and I always find that I start noticing a word appearing in my life. I often select my word at the beginning of December and then put it in my yearly collections journal. My word for 2024 is inspire. I want to feel inspired in my work, self care and connections with others. And I want to inspire others. (Side note: in 2017 I had selected the word strength and then a week later my husband passed away so that word was absolutely perfect for the year. )
Something i thought of while listening to this, to make sure you are using your word throughout the year, would be to create questions related to the word that you use on every monthly or quaterly review page. Ie. 'How did I show my commitment to being conscious this month?' Or like my word is boundaries so 'What is an example of a boundary I put in place or enforced this month, and how did people respond?'. By building it into your review questions, you ensure you are coming back to that word throughout.
My word of the year is resilient and I’m really proud of it. I’ve got a lot of changes coming in 2024 and I wanted to keep in mind that I am stronger than I know and that I can struggle but I always bounce back.
My word of the year is change. I’m very scared of changes but next year for me will be filled with a lot of changes, have to find a new career, bring a new human into the world and learn to live my life with my husband as parents.
I loved the way you did this video, it was very fresh and nice. Right now I'm stuck between iridescent and perseverance for my word of the year; two totally different words with two totally different vibes. I think I'm leaning more towards the latter but I am REALLY drawn towards to the former. I'm honestly not sure what I will choose yet, but I like the idea of brainstorming goals first and then seeing what words link them together. That will probably help me choose. Cheers!
I haven’t exactly picked a word and what I have in my head for 2024 is not really one word. I am thinking of using “self-love”. 2023 has been not been a great year for me where I have been treated very badly and as a result I have not made myself a priority. I’m now learning to really put myself first and I think having self love as a word of the year could be used as a constant reminder that it’s ok to look after myself.
I've never had a word of the year but I have picked three for 2024 Pride, because I've found that I often make myself small or am held back by shame or fear of shame. So I was basically looking for the opposite. Care, because I've had a very stressful year and have not always been great at listening to my own needs. Shine, because I've been a bit cooped up these last years and really want to get out of my shell a bit more. It's kinda connected to the idea of pride as well!
Oh my gosh I love how you said you can't commit to a breakfast cereal. I always describe myself that way also! Like, how can I commit to anything, I can't even commit to a lamp for our office.
My 2024 word of the year is Trust. As in, the process. I have a goal and just committed myself to 3 years of waiting before I can achieve that goal. Trust the process has to be my motto now.
Congratulations on choosing you and leaving teaching. I also left teaching this spring. My word of 2023 was worthy and I determined that I was worthy of running my own business.
@@emilielancour236 thank you, and congrats to you, too! Few professions work their employees as hard as teachers, but that just speaks to your work ethic and ability to adapt as you pursue your next journey 💜
Perfect timing, I was thinking about this. I've been struggling with finding the right word. Think I may try the quote this year, good idea. If I do have a word to go with my quote it would be Nest (or nesting) my focus for 2024 will be improving my environment.
I heard Tori at Oglesby Ohana on TH-cam talk about Guideposts of the year in a very similar vein to your word of the year, and I really liked it! We have been doing 2-4 Guideposts each year since to direct our decisions and intentionally move toward goals. I like that you walked through the process, past to present, and explained the intricacies of choosing a word while giving people lots of different ideas to try!
Love the format! I've picked woty for a few years now (and can NOT remember what this years was to save myself) but never really did much with it. I tried one little word and that's just not my style either. I think I'm going back to basics this year with Foundation as my word. Most of my goals are about building good foundations (like brushing my God damn teeth, why add do you blind me so?) So it just seems to fit for my current needs.
I never intentionally chose a word of the year. BUT, in 2020 I found myself repeating "strong" silently. I was trying to make it through the year ,and like everyone else it was difficult. I was working out too, and if the set was particularly challenging I would tell myself "you are strong enough to do this". It really helped! In 2022 it was "enough". I have enough, I am enough, I have tried enough. The idea that enough really is enough was mind blowing to me lol. Really I was trying to be content in my physical and mental space, and not stress about going the extra mile. 2023 I was saying "better". Better is better than it was. its along the same lines as 'enough', but more about giving myself props for achieving what I have done, and trying to go just one more step. If I leave a situation improved, then its a good thing, even if I still see issues to be addressed. I can usually go back later and work on things some more. I have no idea what 2024's word or phrase will be. The others came naturally. I'm frankly surprised I did this three years in a row. What do you do if the word you chose doesn't work out? Do you change it? Maybe I should wait until the year has started to suss out what it will be. idk.
My word for this year is reflection. I need to look back on my actions and learn and grow from them. Last year my word was action. And it was such a bust it was pretty laughable. Live and learn and reflect! Come to think of it maybe not in that order. Reflect, learn and live!
My word for 2023 was connect, connect to others and to myself and my emotions. It was my first time using a word of the year and I kept coming back to it so I'll be picking another one soon (when I'll be setting up my new bullet journal). Not sure what my word will be yet
My word of the year for 2024 is "Transformation." I've felt stuck for so long and there's a lot of things happening at the very beginning of the year that I thought this will be a good way for me to keep that momentum going for change.
My word of the year for 24 is 'CREATE': obviously this relates to creating my everyday journal, but also the creation of arty/scrapbooky/junk-journaly style pages in a dedicated 'art' journal. I'm also in the process of setting up another notebook for 'creative writing' (poetry & prose) which will incorporate some decoration. I'm also going to create an autobiographical journal to record my memories (I got 60 years of catch up to do there.) I also going to continue to design & make jewellery, as this, alongside journalling helps 'create' mindfulness & improves my mental health too. Finally, aside from the organisation & order journalling 'creates', I want to create a state of peace & general positive vibes which I have already begun in my dream journal, as that includes affirmations, manifestations and gratitude. Given all that I'm both pleased with and inspired by my WOTY. 😊
2023 was the first year I picked a word but it didn't even last through the end of January. I will probably stick to the same word and try again this year. My word was "faith". I wanted to focus on learning to have faith in myself and more faith in others as well as explore my spiritual faith. Hoping I will actually stick with it and actually work towards it this year. Love your word. All the ones you showed from previous years were fantastic words.
I have been choosing a word of the year for a while, often the word seems to just come to me. 2023 was "adventure " and it was such a good year full of adventure. I am struggling a bit with 2024.
For 2023 my word was Create, I wanted to get back some of that playful creativeness I feel like came naturally when I was a child, but gets pushed aside and bogged down by adult responsibility. I do feel like it guided many of my choices through the year and I am happy with my progress. For 2024, after some deliberation, I've chosen Adventure. (Other words I toyed with were Initiative or Brave). I want to travel more, but I also want to push myself out of my comfort zone in some aspects of my life. I want to be more adventurous in my choices and not let myself just tag along with other peoples plans etc.
Adventure was my word for 2023...we bought a tent and camped visited several places on my bucket list and added a third dog...at a rock and mineral show I learned there is a pretty green rock called aventurine
I like the way you're taking to us! It makes me feel special. And I love your curly hair! I think I'll go with 'indepandant' & 'trust' for 2024 (after 'rebirth' & 'Rising like a phoenix' for 2023). Now only my quote of 2024 is missing. Thanks for your help! Greetings from Austria! 💜 💜💜💜💜
I haven't decided on a word yet. I am thinking I might do a word for each quarter. Podcast. I keep wanting to start one, work on planning it, and then realize I have no time! Someday.
Perfect timing for this video, as I'm in the process of trying to figure out what my Word of the Year for 2024 will be and have no clue how to go about it. Will give a go at the three steps you listed here, maybe that'll help. 💜
I can't decide between industrious (make it happen) and ingenuity (creative). I agree a quote or statement would fit the bill and can include both of my words with more ommf.
I am seriously thinking about my word of the year being “NO!”. I will probably go with BALANCED though because it is what i would like to strive for in 2024. Maybe one of my goals related to that will be “Learn to say NO.”
I already know the *vibe* for my word of the year, but I'm not totally settled on it, and it might end up being a quote instead this year, which I've also done in the past. My personal life has gone from hermit-y to very busy very quickly and although it's all good stuff, adjusting has been a bit of a struggle as an introvert. So while setting up my bujo, vision board, etc, I keep landing on the phrase "In the midst of chaos/the storm, she is ______" and inserting different synonyms of calm into that blank. I tentatively landed on *composed* or *grounded* because they also convey a level of confidence, but like with jump, they don't feel super punchy. I'm also toying with zen, which I keep gravitating toward instinctively, and equanimous, which I found via the synonym brainstorm google spiral lol
This year I choose to state my intentions monthly remembering the effort I put into the past months intentions and adding to it. As I reread the intentions, I noticed that I was speaking of humility. I looked up humble and read: to make someone humble (not proud or haughty: not arrogant or assertive) In spirit or manner. BINGO! We have a winner. I enjoyed listening to your comments and worked through choosing my word with you. I am going to sit on it for a while and see. I can also state my monthly intentions or write goal to work on.
Last year’s word was grounding (i was trying to come back down to earth because I am a teacher and i am overworked, thinking up in my head all the time and always planning ahead -so never grounded in the present), Then this year funnily enough my word was cultivate- my goal was to set myself up for success in anything I do, be very intentional… Next year, I am playing around with a word that represents more action like bloom, flourish… But undecided yet. 😊 Thank you for your content. 😊
@@JashiiCorrin I think cultivate was a very safe word, it gave the sense that I didn’t really have to achieve anything, just build a foundation. So going to be a bit braver next year ;)
My first year choosing a word and I’ve gone with “incremental” to remind myself that it’s okay to make small changes and improvements. I don’t need to set a goal of run a 10k, just one of walk a little every week, that’s still better than no exercise.
I have never bothered with a word of the year, but at the beginning of this months I just had a word hit me in the feels. I've been thinking a lot of what I want to do and achieve with my life and my word will be: Wings My reasoning so far is that I want to heal my broken wings and one day fly freely and happily through the sky, conquering new heights. To be free from my fears and built more courage to move forward and rekindle my passions. Most of my goals or things I want to do are held back by my trauma, anxieties and fears.. especially when it comes to picking up drawing again, something I love and miss doing so much. And I want to try my best and take the road to recovering and being free and happy with what I loved doing 💜
Multiple times the word “Discipline” has come up in my preparations this month, so that’s where I’m going. I want to discipline myself to take better care of my body, my mind, my creativity and my academics- all those things that, frankly, I don’t really want to do. I need to push through and do all those things I know I must do even when I have no desire to.
I do a phrase/lyric for the year and my 2024 lyric is "Some bright morning comes" from First Life by Hozier because so much has happened but this year really feels like it all coming together in a really great and bright way! The song feels like when your luck begins to turn and good things start to become the norm. It reminds me to look around and realize that I'm living my happy ending (even if it ends up not feeling that way minute to minute)
I finally found time to actually watch every one of your vlogmas videos and everything I have missed after the myriad of weddings I had to attend (weddings are 3-5 day events in India). Thank you so so much for this style of video and explaining it so well. So many elements of planning get very confusing and overwhelming even if you’re feeling inspired to do them. These videos help a lot to first know that it’s okay to not know exactly what you like and to find a process that suits you personally! Thank you!
I am going with the word „self“, and I gona build new words with it (it‘s a kind of a winged word in german). Like self-confidence or self-reliance… My idea is it to stay really close to my wishes and my values 🧘🏼♀️(hope it makes some kind of sense -quite difficult to explain stuff like that in a foreign🧐🫣) language
I loved this, I loved how you delved into your thought processes around your word of the choices as it is so relateable to think about all the ways it could be interpreted and what it means to yourself. I think this is important stuff to consider and sometimes I feel like everyone just pulls it out of a hat without any deep consideration and I'm so glad to find it's not just me that really gets into the nitty gritty of it all.
My word of the year is shift, I’m in a transitional time having left teaching and am trying to figure out what’s next (shift my career/ passion/ vision of myself I’ve had since I was 7), and I have some mindset shifts I want to make around thoughts and thought patterns I currently have but don’t want to keep
My Word for the year of 2024 is rebuild. I need to rebuild myself after a break up and some health stuff. So I am going to focus on finances, health and making friends 😃
I’m going with explore for 2024. This is in practical terms as we are planning some trips but also to explore options, opportunities and ideas. Super happy with my choice. And I loved your rambling video 😊
Thank you for this content. I have never done a word of the year and I am still deciding. I loved your idea of mindful, but the word I first thought of as you were describing your process and thoughts for 2024 was confident or confidence. I agree that "proud" can have negative connotations, but I feel like confidence is positive and something that is valued! Anyway, that is my two cents worth 😊
I really liked this video! I have never done a word of the year and I agree with past Jess that a whole year feels a bit daunting. The way I organize my bujo is similar to your new system with 'seasons' of 3 months each broken down into 2-week blocks. So I will be trying 'seasonal' words and for my first season of Winter my word will be FORTIFY because I really want to lock in and reinforce good habits in order to stay focused on my core goals
I love the idea of seasons. I am also going to be trying quarterly goals next year and maybe a word for the quarter makes sense. Thank you for the idea.
@@emilielancour236 I have found that 3 months is just the right amount of time for goal-setting, you have enough time to set some bigger goals but not so long that you can procrastinate!
I hope all goes without any bumps! Sending you love, my friend 💛
Bon courage!❤
I love your word. I would never have thought of using it in that context.
You are a pearl; don’t let anyone convince you otherwise. Take care of you. {{{hug}}}
I've decided my word is Foxy! So fun🎉and I can draw a cute foxy design for the page. 😊
That's so cute ☺
My word of the year for 2024 is Power. Finding my inner power is something that I have been building towards in 2023, which is why I choose it for my WOTY.
My word of the year is "Intentional".
Then, each quarter, I'll set a word to help add focus to the goals and moments.
We'll see how it goes.
That was my 2023 word of the year ❤
Oh I like this idea! The idea of a word of the year has always seemed so weird to me since my life changes constantly, but I love this idea where it can focus on what's going on more seasonally. Thanks for sharing!
I love picking an album or song title as my 'word of the year' - highly recommend this for music enthousiasts like myself !!
My word of the year for 2023 was healing. For 2024, my word is declutter.
Not just physical declutter but mental, emotional and spiritual too.
I’m using Tranquility. It involves restfulness, composure, and peace, so I feel that’s a good word for me to reflect back on frequently.
That’s a lovely word 🥰 Certainly feelings I’m trying to remember during this current busy period 😝
5:04 I’m a teacher and I’m halfway through my 10th (and final) year. I’m going into 2024 with this mentality
My word of the year is Intentional! I want to be intentional in all aspects of my life. Career, Social, Financial and Home.
Heck yeah for having a word that resonates with you 👏💜
Growth is a brilliant word!
Great word with great reasons 👏 taking better care of myself is something I want for 2024 too 💜
This is also the word that I’ve come up with.
Me too!!
I'd like "discipline" but i thing it's to much for me!!!
I've picked More as my word for 2024. This year, I want to experience, be present, and live more. Plus, it rhymes, which is an extra treat!
Oh that’s perfect 😄💜
I've tentatively chosen abundance as my word of the year. this came from a good long brainstorm about what I'd like my 2024 to look like, and even if it's not money or material things, I do want to share what I have in the best way I know.
Thank you for sharing Jess. Sending my best.
I like that word. I hope 2024 brings you an _abundance_ of good moments 😊
@@EnabiSeira thank you. I hope 2024 brings good things your way as well.
May an abundance of joy fill your year and overflow to wash over those around you. 🩷
Chatty vlog videos are a yes. I'm gravitating towards two words this year. I can't decide between them and they keep popping into my mind. So probably going with two. My last two single word years have not gone as intended lol
I’m going with Perseverance for next year. Basically I can do hard things or just because something is difficult doesn’t mean it’s not worth doing.
Perseverance is a great word. It is only through persevering that we achieve and expand ourselves.
Awesome word 💪 Heck yeah you can do hard things 👏💜
When you were talking about the feeling good after a decision, I was thinking of the word "present" and I'm glad you chose "conscious" because it really suits your goals. I did 5 goals in 2022 and also in 2023, so I don't feel guilty if I don't achieve them. But this is a good idea to do to lessen my goals and be more concentrated with it 😁
My word for the year is Dedicated. Dedicated to my goals, my convictions, my journal, and my health!
I love the idea of recording your observations around the word.
@@Katiedora122 I see. Thanks for the answer
I'm thinking of the word indulge- it goes with depth year, romanticising life, simplicity, and paying attention to what I enjoy as I'm doing it, but not buying more or doing new things (i.e. depth year)
I like the idea of 13 weeks or four quarters - a word for each quarter. Now I need to pick four.
Growth. I have just had my 3rd baby and I want to show what mommy can do. So while my boys are growing alot this yeart moms word will be growth.
I’m teetering between Becoming and Arise. I’ve been in therapy for 2 years now and have reached a point where I’m more comfortable putting myself first and no longer ignoring my needs. I’m learning who I am and what I like again.
Mine is Renaissance. Should be interesting. And all the votes for planner chat!
What a great word! Are you willing to share why you chose it?
I wasn't planning on a word of the year, but this "podcast" of shorts made my brain consider it 😉👍
If someone is interested, the post went like this:
_Dandelions symbolize everything I want to be in life: Unapologetic.
@@emilielancour236 I have to admit that I'm not used to podcasts, so I don't know how long/short they tend to be 😅 but I like this type of videos that are most like "let's have a conversation"
Also, I didn't know each state have all of those.
Haha yeah typically I would pull flesh out my goal setting first, but this year I just used the vague ideas of them to help me pick my word 😝
I have selected a word of the year for about 7 or 8 years and I always find that I start noticing a word appearing in my life. I often select my word at the beginning of December and then put it in my yearly collections journal.
My word for 2024 is inspire. I want to feel inspired in my work, self care and connections with others. And I want to inspire others.
(Side note: in 2017 I had selected the word strength and then a week later my husband passed away so that word was absolutely perfect for the year. )
I am choosing "nourish ". Nourish physically, mentally, emotionally, and relationships.
Nourish to Flourish.
Great thought 👏 would really help with remembering / remembering to apply it 😄
my word of the year is courage. bc i'm doing a lot of scary stuff next year. I'm gonna need lots of courage to accomplish my goals.
My word of the year is resilient and I’m really proud of it. I’ve got a lot of changes coming in 2024 and I wanted to keep in mind that I am stronger than I know and that I can struggle but I always bounce back.
My word is serenity. I have some conflicting goals and desires for this year and I am going to have to let things go if things go one way or another
My word of the year is change.
Mine is Improve. I know it is a basic word, but I am feeling it.
If you’re feeling it, that’s what matters 💪
I've never had a word of the year but I have picked three for 2024
Pride, because I've found that I often make myself small or am held back by shame or fear of shame. So I was basically looking for the opposite.
Care, because I've had a very stressful year and have not always been great at listening to my own needs.
Shine, because I've been a bit cooped up these last years and really want to get out of my shell a bit more. It's kinda connected to the idea of pride as well!
Those are great words 💪 Heck yeah for treating ourselves well, building ourselves up, and getting out of our shells 💜👏
2024 is Secure. Secure in our present, and securing our future (as much as we actually can, in a world where there's limited control.)
My word of the year is Independent. Currently, I need a hand hold for everything, and I really want to learn to solve things on my own
This past year, I had a quote of the year: "What I desire is what I deserve" and I (finally) left the teaching profession, too 💜
Congrats on your move away from teaching 💜 love the quote 👏
My word for 2024 is LOVE ... I want to share more love, make the jobs with more love and give love to myself
I use Morgan Harper Nichols 100 word of the year ideas to pick! This year it landed on "process" for me.
The year is a bit long, but I do a word of the month so that I can start with a refreshed focus more regularly.
Word: Listen. It also contains the word Silent. And ListTen - and I love a list! Thanks for your thoughts on this.
I'm also going to create an autobiographical journal to record my memories (I got 60 years of catch up to do there.)
I also going to continue to design & make jewellery, as this, alongside journalling helps 'create' mindfulness & improves my mental health too.
Finally, aside from the organisation & order journalling 'creates', I want to create a state of peace & general positive vibes which I have already begun in my dream journal, as that includes affirmations, manifestations and gratitude.
Given all that I'm both pleased with and inspired by my WOTY. 😊
I chose composed. I am a little all over the place most of the time. So being composed throughout the year just seemed right
2023 was the first year I picked a word but it didn't even last through the end of January.
Love this video, I appreciate the ramble ❤. Also, your hair has been looking so healthy and cute.
Thanks! I've been trying to let it dry naturally! 😄💜
I have been choosing a word of the year for a while, often the word seems to just come to me. 2023 was "adventure " and it was such a good year full of adventure. I am struggling a bit with 2024.
I feel that my word just comes to me too. I started noticing the word inspire and inspired and so that's what I picked.
the word i'm choosing is 'regrowth'. 2023 was a rough year for me and there's a lot of things in my life that went to the wayside
Oh those are both great words! Certainly a hard pick if you only wanna go with one 😝💜
I picked diligent for my word! :)
Excellent choice! 😄💜
I do yearly themes (see CGP Grey and the Cortex Podcast/Brand).
2021 - Finish
2022 - Unearth
2023 - Bravery
And 2024 - Forward
My word for 2024 is “Embrace”.
Embrace the curl
Embrace the change
Embrace the differences 😊
Yeeesssssss 👏 that's an excellent word 😄
I am leaning towards "reflect". It's the end of a decade around the sun for me and I kind of want to wrap up and be get ready for the other 10
This year I choose to state my intentions monthly remembering the effort I put into the past months intentions and adding to it.
Most welcome! 💜 love hearing about what words other people picked and why. Hope cultivate treated you well 👏
@@JashiiCorrin I think cultivate was a very safe word, it gave the sense that I didn’t really have to achieve anything, just build a foundation. So going to be a bit braver next year ;)
My first year choosing a word and I’ve gone with “incremental” to remind myself that it’s okay to make small changes and improvements. I don’t need to set a goal of run a 10k, just one of walk a little every week, that’s still better than no exercise.
Consistency is my word for 2024. It's something I need to do but I struggle with. Most of my goals for the New Years all depend on being consistent.
I have never bothered with a word of the year, but at the beginning of this months I just had a word hit me in the feels. I've been thinking a lot of what I want to do and achieve with my life and my word will be: Wings
My reasoning so far is that I want to heal my broken wings and one day fly freely and happily through the sky, conquering new heights.
Good word 💪
I loved this chatty video walking us through all your previous words of the year and how you picked this year's word.
Thank you!
Most welcome! 😄💜 glad you enjoyed this one, and hope that all the weddings went well 💪
I am going with the word „self“, and I gona build new words with it (it‘s a kind of a winged word in german). Like self-confidence or self-reliance… My idea is it to stay really close to my wishes and my values 🧘🏼♀️(hope it makes some kind of sense -quite difficult to explain stuff like that in a foreign🧐🫣) language
My word for 2024 is PEACE!
I feel that 😂👏 Could well be a contender for me one year 💜
My word of the year for 2024 is PEACE.
PEACE internally
PEACE in my home
PEACE in my workplace
I loved this, I loved how you delved into your thought processes around your word of the choices as it is so relateable to think about all the ways it could be interpreted and what it means to yourself. I think this is important stuff to consider and sometimes I feel like everyone just pulls it out of a hat without any deep consideration and I'm so glad to find it's not just me that really gets into the nitty gritty of it all.
It's nice to hear there are other people who go really deep into the consideration of it like we do 💪💜
My word of the year is shift, I’m in a transitional time having left teaching and am trying to figure out what’s next (shift my career/ passion/ vision of myself I’ve had since I was 7), and I have some mindset shifts I want to make around thoughts and thought patterns I currently have but don’t want to keep
My Word for the year of 2024 is rebuild. I need to rebuild myself after a break up and some health stuff. So I am going to focus on finances, health and making friends 😃
My word of the year is "let go" ; in Dutch 1 word "loslaten". Accept what I can not change.
Thank you for your video!
Thanks for sharing your process for this. It was very helpful.
Most welcome, glad it was useful! 💜
Lol, I wrote that before I heard what your actual word of the year is. I love the word, "conscious".
Confidence/confidence are great words too! 😄 Appreciate you helping me out 💪💜
I really liked this video!
