This monkey is an excellent example of redirected, or stereotypic behavior. Stereotypic behaviors are repetitive movements or postures with no goal or function. There are changes that take place in the brain that are indicative of chronic stress, frustration or pain and poor psychological well-being. Early maternal deprivation is also a cause. Examples are self-sucking, self-grasping, self-biting, pacing, pulling out hair, rocking, bouncing, twirling, flipping etc. This monkey spins and flips. Sanctuaries have had some success in treating this with medication and an enriched environment.

Diese Frau putzt wohl nie ihre Hütte und zeig doch mal ihre Monkys schlafen und leben
