It's insane, that they really managed to grasp the characters with their individual play. I truly feel like Robinhood or Invisible man when I play them in unmatched.
I'm excited to play this for the first time this weekend. I am a big fan of Disney's Villainous series & though they are different, I love the growing character expansions. Thanks for your list here, it was insightful!
It's been my experience that Bruce Lee has a really tough time with Sherlock Holmes, since Holmes can force him to discard. Bruce needs to gather groups of cards to pull off his multiple attacks, which is difficult to do without cards.
Fascinating to hear someone else’s favourites especially as mine are fairly different. It might be because she is newest but I love little red (that artwork is fierce). They are awesome but I’m a little bored playing Medusa and Bigfoot these days. I also have a soft spot for Invisible man and Alice.
Great thing about this game is how different all characters are. It's funny cuz my game group every single person has vastly different favorite characters.
After playing this game the other day I really want to give it props. It's an incredibly easy game to learn, lime you can explain how to play it in under 5 minutes easy. However the designers did a very good job making the characters feel distinctive from one another. For example playing Dracula vs Invisible Man the other day they felt like completely different characters.
Interesting seeing everyone ranking the characters so differently. I've watched two other ranking videos and they're almost totally different to each other and to this haha.
Nice list. Personally Spike is my fave, which may be controversial, but so far I have won every match with him. I have to say that Bruce Lee however is exceedingly dangerous against Spike, since at the end of Bruce Lee's turn his special allows him to run away from my tokens. It's great to see how everyone has different play style preferences and I think the designers have done a great job making things balanced for the most part.
Thanks for sharing. I played my first game today: Sherlock vs Dracula. Sherlock won with 4 health points to go, after Dracula died from exhaustion. Each character has a different way they might ideally move around the board, and so I'm excited to learn more about that aspect of the game.
Always fun to hear peoples favourites. I think I have a bit more love for Jekyll and Hyde and little red than you. Also slightly hate medusa for being too good. Reminds me that there is something for everyone in this game!
My 11-year-old loves Bruce Lee and what we have found is that he’s a fairly well-balanced glass cannon. If he has a good hand for a combo, and the opponent doesn’t have Feints to stop his roll, he can steamroll over you in a single turn. But, if his card draw isn’t great OR the opponent stops his +1 action string with a Feint or two, he can get steamrolled just as hard. However, the balance still feels a little bit tipped in his favor because unlike a true glass cannon, Bruce Lee has several really solid defense cards plus his special ability means that he will rarely take more than 1 attack from his opponent per turn. He gets a natural advantage against opponents who can’t easily move away from him after attacking, which let’s Bruce get two (or more) attacks against them, and then he can always step away afterwards (unless he gets trapped, which is basically what you always need to be trying to do when facing off against Bruce Lee).
Just played as Beowolf for the first time last night. Wow, that was so fun! I would rank Bigfoot higher for first time players since his cards and effects are very easy to understand. Watching my friend play King Arthur for his first time to play was frustrating for everyone... Good list, I would put Dracula a little higher though.
On one part, I wanna buy all the expansions-on the other hand, *Cobble and Fogg* is such a perfect game with it's all Victorian atmosphere that I just never would want to ruin it, with all the irrelevant characters :D
I understand that sentiment for sure but I think Unmatched is one of the few expandable games like this that is yet to deeply disappoint with any of the releases.
Great list. I personally really like playing with Bruce Lee but I seem to lose with him as much as I win. Haven't got the Buffy set or the Red Riding Hood set. Will probably get the later when it comes out in NZ.
Since you talk about this game quite a bit, I thought I would give it a try. I got Cobble and Fog and played on Halloween. I wasn’t bad, but I got destroyed by Jekyll and Hyde as Invisible Man
Idk why but I felt like Little Red should of been higher she has a lot of potential to deal damage on defense (against ranged this is useful) and has some cool cards. Also I like Spike more than where placed but with him I understand more why he falls where he does. He has so many “Any” cards defending usually isn’t a problem with him. But it’s easy to avoid shadow tokens sometimes.
She does do quite a bit of damage, whenever I play her I always just feel forced to play cards in a different order than I want to. I think she can be very powerful tho.
I was just wondering because you did mention Bruce Lee possibly being a little overpowering but I played against him with Sherlock and the match was quite lopsided in Sherlock's favor. I've with all the characters at least once and I've played my favorites at least five times each. At my table everyone has had at least two matches playing as Sherlock and Sherlock has never lost. Have you had a similar experience.
Sherlock is definitely pretty powerful. Everyone keeps telling me Bruce Lee isn't too powerful so I think my group is either just really good with him or really bad playing against him 😄 🤣. That could all just be luck of the draw as well as there is a luck factor in this game.
I can hardly wait for the new sets to come out! Battle of Legends Vol. 2 is going to be fun, but I'm mostly just looking forward to playing as Sun. The Marvel playsets will be fun too, because of 3 player boards. But the T-Rex vs. Dr. Sattler set is probably what I'm looking forward to the most! The first large character in the game will be the Tyrant Lizard herself! It can't come fast enough.
@@TheBoardMeeting Thanks for your answer ! @@BlueTorchWeddings What has happened in the games I've been apart of he'll attack until the defender runs out of defense cards and then just kind of keeps teeing off. But that's just been my groups experience with him.
@@TheBoardMeeting yep when you are playing against him, just like any other unmatched character, the better you know his cards, the better you will be able to respond and counter. For example with Bruce it's best not to waste feints. Stop him after he plays the Second Jeet Kune Do, that way you can stop the attack. And then run away or counter with some serious damage of your own. This comes with experience, but you know what Bruce is gonna try to do. And if your opponent is loading up on attack cards then they probably don't have alot of defense cards. Hit him hard and then clear out. Just saying he is very very beatable and predictable. He is still my favourite character though ☺️. The combos are fun and unmatched could be a real poker game
@@TheBoardMeeting No big deal. Especially if your not familiar with Buffy. I certainly am not. This was good. I like to see others opinions. I love Beowulf. Sinbad is the lowest on the totem pole for me.
