- Isarigami is a historic Japanese mountain village with stone-walled rice terraces and a few traditional wooden houses. On this rainy day we start at the river below the village and walk up and down through the flooded rice fields. The rain brings out the vibrant colors in this beautiful mountain landscape, and leads to some light mist and low cloud. The village has a number of irrigation canals that bring water into the fields, and we are lucky enough to see water being diverted to flood one of the fields along the way. Through there is the sound of gurgling and flowing water, which combines with the rain to make a nice soundscape. I hope you enjoy the rural ambience in this beautiful little village.
I also walked this village in winter: • Winter Walking Terrace...

It's a beautiful village. The hard work of the villagers is remembered.
It's a beautiful rural village scene with a lot of emotion. I love the sight of the mist rising in the rain. Thank you for sharing the good video. Have a happy week.
I feel nostalgic because it feels like the hometown I lived in when I was young... I also like the sound of rain~
Wow it must have been quiet an experience growing up in a village like this one. Isarigami only has the few houses we see here so there isn't much for kids to do I'd imagine, but as an adult it's easy to see the appeal of living with the natural beauty and enjoying quiet mountain farm life. Even more so in the rain.
Depending on where you approach or stand the sound of cascading water eclipses the sound of rainfall. At times, it's a concerto of both sounds or just the pit-pat of raindrops. The newly planted rice terraces get plenty of water. This is certainly an atmospheric walk.

Ambient Exploration: Every time I logon on my TH-cam feed, it's a no-brainer to find your video, click, enlarge on my monitor, and start my treadmill. Isarigami is stunning to view, especially how you captured all magnificence in its terraced rice paddies, wooden homes, and intricate irrigation system. It is amazing to me how you always seem to film when no one is around, many times in the calming rain, and no traffic to mar the tranquility! Even a layperson can see how the rice terraces are managed with stone walls, holding ponds, pipes and waterways to control irrigation and rain overflow. Most educational! It is charming to see the Japanese hanging paper talisman in the woods. Once again, great job! Thank you for sharing your talent, editing, and expert camera skills to an International, appreciative viewership. Margie, USA, California

Just imagine all thework involved to create these Stone Terraces....Would love to know how long ago they were made!
It seems the stone terraces were made during the Kamakura Period, so sometime between 1192-1333. I wonder how long the construction took and the logistics of it all. I'll be going back later in the summer when the rice is more mature so I'll see if I can find out any more information on the ground.
@@ambient_exploration 1192-1333? That's around 700 years ago!!
Why this channel dont have million followers ??
que silencio no vuela una hoja
es un pueblo tranquillo : )
This paddy size will not support all those many houses.
My understanding is that most small farms sell their produce in bulk to Japan Agriculture and also receive subsidies from the government. There are many small-medium gardens where people use / give away the harvest though. I've been lucky enough to have been gifted more than my share of fresh vegetables and sometimes fruit.
