      I really loved Arizona and I moved back East after my moms died I was taking care of her . The pay up here is a lot higher so isn’t cost of living etc . We would hike all around the Tucson area and loved it great place

      Definitely I really like it there I don’t know if I could live in Arizona personally I make my living playing music and don’t book Arizona too often also Tucson is a little bit of a college town now it is not really my cup of tea but I love going there for one month a year and can’t wait to go every year I was born and raised in the East Coast but moved to New Mexico about 10 years ago I went back just over a week ago to visit family and I do miss the East Coast a little bit for sure

    I would go bananas there....I’m into crystal healing but also just love crystals up to the point that the shopkeeper who sell me all the crystals and stones asked me if I’m selling them too. But no, I’m just surrounded by them. It’s fascinating to see the sculptures and the colors. Beautiful!

    I love the Mexican opals too. It does not dry like it looks wet, as most opal does not. It crazes a lot as it is hydrophane or it is unusable size or thickness. They fill the full bottles by hand so the nice side is out on everything and the inside is more chunky and lots of rock weight. Then they are priced up or down by how they look from a "lot price". The buckets show what that not in rock wet looks like dry. The dry cabs prove opals can be cut & not all craze too. The matrix bound opal wont crack as bad if they are left surrounded by matrix when cut, like the Shewa from Ethiopia is or if it does it is held together. The cracks & being bad mouthed is why those are less than Aussie. You could have asked for the 100$ each tray of stones or better ones too, from the shade area. There are too many light fingered "shoppers" around opal dealers, but the commercial grades are the hardest to get rid of & if people can touch things, they buy things. Note that no expensive cut Australian opal is out in the sun unless it was boulder rough or in water to make it look better, beside not lose some to cracking in the heat changes day to night. Even tho most opal has a broken off side or is a chunk, size alone impresses people and cracks turn them off. Matrix opals give you the most area for the buck and don't crack in the heat. Gotta love wandering at the rock show. Thanks for sharing.

    I whish I was standing right there looking at these amazing little bottles of gorgeous and looking at these amazing beads of Opal. You really have such a wonderful life going from gem shows to jewellery/gem shows seeing, touching , admiring and buying your choice of gemstones. You have no idea how jealous of you I am. So many beautiful pieces of stunning gemstones cut and uncut. What happens to all these buckets upon buckets of opals after the gem shows.

      Tanya Bonnett Thank you so much for watching and thank you so much for your kindness I really appreciate it there’s lots of Jem shows around the United States I’m sure there’s a few in every state Tucson gem and mineral just happens to be the biggest one in the world
      A lot of folks Come from far away countries and it would cost too much money to mail everything back so a lot of the times they just leave them in storage units throughout the city however when it comes to the folks who are vending that come from Mexico A lot of them take the material back to Mexico where they continue to sell over there and a lot of these folks that are vending the opals in obsidian also go to the Denver gem show in which they take the same material from Tucson to Denver which is the second largest Joe show in the United States and definitely one of the biggest in the world

      Carla_Rain I am also a huge fan of Mexican minerals especially the ones that come from my hometown
      I was on a date with a lady that works for One of the largest rock shops and online presence in America we were talking about the material and she was telling me that her boss is one of the very few people that get the material directly from the source long story short all of the material is harvested and the operation is ran by the cartel in Mexico and they are starting to harvest and sell less and less of the material because they are growing more and more marijuana in the same location which has become a lot more profitable since it’s still illegal in Mexico the girl I was on a date with told me over dinner that when her boss buys it the cartel shows up in a big black unmarked van they hand them the money they count it they quickly give them the bag of material and the deal is done
      The story isn’t too dramatic and I probably should have shared it In the video but I didn’t want to cause any drama so I will just share the little story with the folks that ask in the comment section thank you so much for watching I really appreciate it please consider subscribing if you haven’t done so already it really helps

    Anyone know where to buy cheap sculpture bases? There were some carved pieces in the previous video being sold for $10 a piece. So with shipping, material and labor costs for the carving the bases must have costed significantly less.

    • @lapidarydave
      @lapidarydave  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jack Phillson I do not know exactly where to find the sculptures bases but I know some chines vendors do sell them for around 1$-4$
      I will see if I can find anyone that sells them online for you my friend thanks so much for watching i really appreciate it :)
