There was actually little to no cgi in the movie. The animatronics were actual animatronics made by Jim Hensons creature shop. The glowing eyes weren’t cgi either. It was all built into the animatronics. And, as you said, you were taking it as a movie in and of itself, and that’s completely ok. If I didn’t know about the franchise, I would’ve given it a lower rating as well, mostly because it really wasn’t scary enough. But it was rated pg-13, so I guess that would make sense. I am going to school for acting, and I’m inclined to disagree with your statements about Josh Hutcherson. I’d say the reason why it looks like he’s having a hard time is because he chose to act that way, a character choice, if you will. It looks to me communication is hard for his character in general, which is why he is emotionally distant with the sister. Sorry for the long rant, but if you’d like to see some backstage stuff about the animatronics, I’d recommend watching a couple vlogs from the TH-camrs Dawko and Razzboski, they and few others were invited onto the set and they got to see some secrets
This film looked fabulous and it included aspects of lore from the games. What I didn’t understand is why a game that was all about jump scares translates to a movie with no jumpscares
Nice review, I’ve been really wanting to see this, possibly might see this at the weekend with pals.

Off topic here Jim, but what is your thoughts on the new Beatles song?
Awesome Review Mate
This movie was honestly really good to me but that could just be middle school nostalgia lol
I’d give the film a 8.7/10
