Hey Cindy 😊 I hope you've had a great start to the year! Is it getting cold where you are now? And thanks, I had to rescue the little guy because its starting to get cold! Always lovely to hear from you! Take care 😊💚🌱
Happy blessed new year. 🎉 I’m mapping my backyard to start my three new garden 🪴 beds and I’m excited to see what I can accomplish 😊 as always great video and for inspiration 👍🏾
Happy New Year!! I hope you've had a great start to the year! Oooo, that sounds like an exciting project! I built a raised bed just today out of scrap around the plot! I'm sure you'll smash it! And thank you for your kind words! Always lovely to hear from you 💚🌱😊
Hi Jake, Happy New Year to you. You are a kind soul helping that lady bird out. I was gardening today, just moving a few plants about. I don't have an allotment but I enjoy watching you and others working on their allotments.
Hey Linda 😊 Happy New Year to you too! Ooooo, sounds like you're started 2024 off well out in the garden! Love it! I had to move the little guy, it's getting too cold for him! I used to watch allotment videos before getting one and I didn't have a garden either! Sometimes it's just very relaxing! Take care Linda and lovely to hear from you 😊🌱💚
If I was doing it I would make a door out of Batten for the frame with Plastic cover cause you already had a problem with that stuff you where using on your poly house, If I had that washing machine fire thing I don't think I would get much done, I'd be watching the fire with glee. I'll be sowing my onions and peppers this week to go in at the end of march, the onions that is. See you soon
Hey Graham! I was thinking something similar, but I'm sure there would be air gaps for the cold wind to get in and cause a draught. With the current design, it's pretty air tight inside there. I need to have a proper think! Hahaha, it's pretty relaxing but it's too cold to relax unfortunately! Otherwise I think I'd be the same! I must do some more onions! And yes, great time for some of those heat loving plants! Sounds like you'll have started 2024 well mate! Take care Graham 😊💚🌱
Glad you didn’t have too much damage after those winds, they were awful. My garden arch almost blew over, it was like the leaning tower of Pisa but all put back now. I’ve been laid low with a chest infection over the last week so other garden jobs have had to wait for a bit. I just hope we keep this calmer weather for a while so I can get things done.
They were the worst I've heard in many years for sure! Oh no! I hope that if anything was growing on it, it's alright! Ah Nicki! That doesn't sound good! Hopefully you can start to feel better soon with some rest and staying in the warm! Make sure you wrap up when you do venture out. Hope you feel better soon and take care 😊💚🌱
Thanks Jake, I’m starting to feel more normal, fortunately the arch had been used to grow pumpkins up so apart from a hanging pot of pansies, didn’t have anything on them so no damage done 😀
Happy New Year Jake 🎉, here’s to an amazing full year on the allotment. I’ve only sown onions at this time and it’s cold here too. Next weekend in the minuses and could hit minus 18c nights 😱😱😱. Hope the weather lets up and you can settle back down to enjoying your time, Ali 🇨🇦
Happy New Year Ali! I hope you've had a great start to 2024! I know, its bloody cold here but not that cold! I don't know how you cope! From one extreme to the other for you over the last 12 months! Let's just hope spring comes a little ealier this year 🙏 😊💚🌱
Thank you 😊 you're braver than me! I didn't go down this weekend, it was far too cold for the jobs I wanted to do! So well done for getting down there! 😊🌱💚
Hey Tracy! And I know right! I saw someone wandering off with a full barrow load of the last of the horse manure 😩 but hey ho! And thank you! I was a little worried it was going to be in a worser state! But thankfully not. Hope you're keeping well 🌱💚😊
@@pots-and-petals i have half plots but both good sizes my new one although has loads of weeds there more manageable. My first plot had brambles and weeds above my head but we got there and I love the challenge and making it new .
Happy New Year to you Jake. I’ve been down to the plot for the first time in weeks as I’ve had the “lurgy” and I’ve managed to put in 4 x Raspberry Gold, not sure how they’ll do but hey ho! There’s already some raspberries there from the previous tenant do you know if I’d need to cut these back at all? Not sure what sort they are other than red ones that fruit in summer ( I think).
Happy New Year!! I hope you've had a great start to the year despite the lurgy! Lots going about at the moment, but it's that time of year. Ooooo, very nice. I get massive berries from the gold ones! So hopefully yours will do even better and nows a great time to plant them up! If you're not too sure, I'd cut some back to just 4 inches and then leave others a meter or so tall. Then next year, take note of when you harvest them and be 100% sure. Summer fruiting will have sent their new shoots through already, so you should be able to tell the different between last years fruiting shoots and the newer shoots as the older will be much darker stemmed. If that's easy to tell them apart, just cut down the oldest woodiest stems. I hope that made sense! 🙏 😊💚🌱
If you accidentally folk something when harvesting, would it be alright to eat if it was used up that same day rather than putting it on compost heap ?
100% you could! But I had plenty there to take home and I'd made a right pigs ear of it, so it will just end up back on the plot on a few more years! 😊💚🌱
Hey there and welcome 😊 Great question! So you rent the allotment from the council (you do get private allotments but these are rare). Now depending on the allotment association, you might have a fixed term of x amount of years, but many you can rent until you no longer want it or for many, too old to work on it which is always really sad to see. I know some plot holders who have been on the same plot for 30 years! I hope that answers your question! Take care 😊🌱💚
I enjoy how you have your allotment set up. I watch others and they are a bit not my style. Like I have a style, really? Anyway, you have a love of the natural look and a love of critters of nature that I truly enjoy. Though our opinions are polar opposite on snails. I put down chopped shells and copper strips to move them along. Keep up the good info, I know it's a challenge when you have to work your garden.@@pots-and-petals
Hey there Jake! 🙋🏻♀️ I love your cheerfulness, your joy in little things, like ladybirds. You always make me smile. Thank you! See you tomorrow.🖐🏼

PS I love the fact you took time to move the little ladybird to a snug spot. So sweet.
Haha! It had to be done poor little guy! It's getting cold! 🌱💚😊

Can almost smell that fire.
There is nothing like a proper crackling fire is there! I certainly smelt of it when I came home 😂😅💚🌱

@@pots-and-petalsI’m really good, just hoping for some dry days to get going on the new plot, and all the rest of the winter jobs 😊
How many plots do you have? Or is it your new one? I'll come check out the channel and see what's been going on! 💚🌱😊

😂😂 at the plot, as long as its warm and tastes of coffee, I'm good 😂
