- In today's video, I go over my generator shed build. Show how I did it and why I did it like I did. Compare generator running with it open versus being closed. Discuss being cautious and making informed decisions before moving forward at your own risk.

Good looking generator shed, thanks
@@Flash1857 Thank you for the kind words! I've enjoyed it's use in the midst of power outages over just having the generator out in the open and cords everywhere. Blessings and respect!
Hello Smitty, a very merry Christmas to all. I sure do like that shed wow.
Hello Sir, thank you for the kind words! Here's to a Merry Christmas your way. I see several questions below. I'll take a gander at the project log so I can answer better than just from memory. Blessings and respect!
Nice job!
@@Zach492 Thank you for the kind words! Blessings and respect!
Great job brother. Not fancy, but reliable and tested.. God bless
@@francisvazquez13 Thank you for the kind words indeed. With all the severe weather lately, Beryl included it has definitely earned it's keep. Blessings and respect!
Glad you got that shed for your generator to keep it out of the weather Smitty 🙏💯
Thank you for the kind words and support! You are correct, hopefully this will help my generator last longer being out of the weather. Blessings and respect!
@@1SmittysGarage same to you and your family Smitty 🙏💯
Thanks, I went with a metal shed also. Actually putting it in place now. So I know I'm not crazy. Trying to decide between thin plywood and cement board.
On sound dampening, they'll do about the same. For heat resistance and potential fire risks, cement board hands down. Blessings and respect!
You could paint all the white with gray match paint
@@patriotordinance9695 not a bad idea! Thank you! Blessings and respect!
Sir. Great job i learn alot off vides ty .

I think you done a great job on the shed David! 😁👍 *The storm was the real test!* 👀 Glad to see you built what you wanted. Happy wrenching my friend 🔧🔩
Yes sir, the storm that came through affected folk statewide. Many, many are now homeless as the winds devastated their dwellings. A moment of silence for all.... I appreciate the support Zane! Hope all is well your way! Blessings and respect!
Looks like a well sorted setup
@@jaredchristie8882 I appreciate the kind words! With the storms that have rolled in past month it has proven itself worthwhile. Blessings and respect!
Excellent construction throughout. I'm sure you're gonna tweak it more as time goes by.
@@ourtexasfamilyvideos62 Thank you for the kind words! I've made a few changes after running it through some storms. Nothing major. The inner support framing has been then best as the building upheld agaisnt 80+ mph strait on winds. Thanks for checking it out! Blessings and respect!
Great job, reinforcing those cheap sheds with timber was a great idea.
If anyone wanted to do this themselves on land they own (or if you have landlord permission) I would suggest forming up for a concrete base, it's small enough you could do it with bags. Renting a cement mixer for a day is cheap if you can't borrow one. I'm sure if you think hard enough or ask around you can find a friend of a friend who is a concreter who could do it in a fraction of the time a layperson could and finish it nicely in exchange for lunch and some beers.
This would not only allow you better anchoring of your walls to resist wind but you could also put some studs in to mount the generator on some rubber vibration mounts.
Also a damp proof course (this is what we call it in Australia), basically a waterproof membrane between the concrete and the wooden base plates for the walls.
Another thing you can do with these tin sheds is suspend them at the height you want off metal posts in each corner then pour the concrete slightly higher than the bottom of the tin, this makes it insect and vermin proof, you may have to raise the door depending on the design. This is the preferred method for larger sheds
That is some valuable input and ideas there. Really like thre concrete base. I chose wood as it was easily available, but concrete pad definitely would've been the ticket. Thank you for checking it out. Blessings and respect!
Hi David
Great Job On The Shed
I Would Turn That Exhaust Up So That When Your Grass Dies Or What ever, It Won't Catch Alight.
Glad It Didn't Take Much To Get The Old Generator Going. ( 😎😎A Cheap Running Generator )
Hello friend, I reckon the reason I turned exhaust down was so it wouldn't collect rain. The little generator, oh yeah really glad it didn't take much to get going. Good to hear from you. Take care, blessings and respect!
I just had a brain smart haha, what about adding a small muffler to the outside with a metal auwning to keep weather off it
Could use a spark arrestor for the end of that exhaust tube - not just to help prevent fires, but also to keep bugs (wasps - especially if you've got mud daubers around) from clogging up the exhaust.
A really good idea! Something I didn't think of. Thank you there and thank you for checking it out! Blessings and respect!
Going to get mud daubers in there
@@REPR100 I agree. I have since put a screen over exhaust entrance. Blessings and respect!
What type of fan you using
@@robertduncan2742 It's a 110v 12" exhaust fan powered by generator when generator is on. Blessings and respect!
Sorry so may questions but what size wire did you berry
Ran two runs of 12/3 20A 110v. Blessings and respect!
Wow what a noisy generator, also in the in the shed "hardly any difference". You can better buy an Honda generator. Much quieter and much more economical with fuel.
I speak from my own experience. I have years of experience with Honda generators.
These are the best, low fuel consumption, quiet and have a long lifespan.
Yes, also more expensive, but quality has a price.
Very true, Generacs are generally noisy units. But, they are reliable nonetheless. I've had this unit close to fourteen years now, no issue. In person, it is quieter indeed when shed is closed. However, will be more so when I insulate the inside. Honda's make great long lasting units for sure. They do tend to be quieter, especially the inverters. I am an avid vintage Honda motorcycle fan. I have several in my collection. Thank you for the feedback, ideas and such. Blessings and respect my friend!
Be careful not to gas the dog
