Chess is the original rogue like actually. Can’t wait for the DLC that adds more floors, new pieces and pawns with diffrent moves. They could also add pits and big yeeti in the middle of the board. Also reward people with crowns for wins to unlock that sweet new drip and emotes. Then chess would become the Northernlion of videogames.

    Loving the series so far.
On analysis: I say ignore Key Moments, the interface is confusing and it's a lot more fun to just step through the analysis yourself. And I highly suggest you look at all your mistakes and blunders in your losses, you're missing a lot of major mistakes because if you lose a match you just look at one or two mistakes and then write it off. Analyzing your losses is the fastest way to improve... though I guess if you get too good we won't be able to revel in your pain.

I got really excited when Ryan started to consider 16...Qxa6 because I saw that position and immediately thought ...Qxa6 Bxa6 Ra8 and there's no way for White to save both pieces, period, end of story. The knight can't cover the bishop because of the pawn at c5, and the bishop can't cover the knight because it's just immediately captured by the pawn on c6. Got real nervous when he started to galaxy brain himself out of the move, but I'm glad he found it a minute later. :D

30:07 Ok so in that last game where NL couldn't for the life of him find the best move in the endgame leading to a knights qk fork I did have an alternate suggestion for a move that clearly isn't best but it was what I immidietly jumped to. Ok so hear me out; Queen to A3 and his queen captures. Then you capture his queen with your bishop on E7. You have now created an attack on his C1 rook. He can't just move his threatened rook to counterattack your bishop because of the knight on E4 nor can he move to the bottom lest his rook be capped into oblivion. Instead he must move his rook back somewhere on row 1 or some middle square that doesn't matter. Now you are safe to either cap his bishop on F4 in peace or making a knights qb fork thereby creating a significant lead
