This video was totally necessary. After seeing the first demo, I thought "oh, more of the same non-musical glitches". After looking at this one, I think it's a great and useful pedal. By the way, am I the only one who loves the color and design of the Onward? Greetings from Argentina! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I am fine with the look of it as well, also there's no such thing as "non-musical glitches". Everything can be musical if you open your heart and mind too it.
The problem with Onward would be the same problem I already have with Mood MkII which is figuring out how to not base my whole musical personality around this pedal.
Thanks for highlighting this. You make a very good and important point. When such a complex and distinct sound comes pre packaged and instantly accessible without the need for much creative originality or skill based foundation, available to everyone who wants it, it kind of hollows out the point of artistry and turns the beauty of the sound into a quite shallow and gimmicky form of entertainment in the end. Not saying there's anything wrong with that. But if originality and artistry and skill in your craft is something you value, going for less "complete" effect pedals that allows for a more open experimentation with sound design is probably the better approach.
Thank you so much for answering my question, and thank you so much for covering so much ground. This is going to be a really great device, I cannot wait to get it into my workflow
So glad to see that Midi clock sync but with a tight drum! And surprised it's triggering L and R sides separately! That might offer creative routing options, very interesting
instead of the "on/off"-switch panel, you need to make an input socket into which it can plug both the original "on/off"-switch panel and something similar to midi panels (to make your own presets of the included effects)
I’ve preordered through the Au hub. This gives me warm, creative fuzzies about owning one. You’ve given me lotsa creative scope and inspiration. I’ll be using mine with Chapman stick. #_#
Oh yeah, big time. Onward = Sampled freeze Lossy = Spectral freeze In other words: The freeze inside Onward is an actual recording of your sound. It takes a brief moment and captures it exactly as it was. The freeze inside Lossy is a recreation that analyzes your sound and builds a synthesized copy. Very different sound and feeling, Onward's freeze is closely attached to your playing, while Lossy's freeze wanders around and reinterprets it.
Hey kind of an irrelevant question but how are they hooking the mic up to Onward? How do most people use mics on pedals? XLR to 1/4" or do you go through a system like the Radial VocoLoco for instance?
Unless you’re using a mic that requires phantom power then yeah an XLR > 1/4” TS adapter will work just fine. Also make sure to enable the MISO dip switch on the pedal since you’re using a mono sound source.
In these demos, we use a small audio mixer to bring up the level of the mic before going into the pedal. The VocoLoco would be a great option for this. Cheaper options would be a Rolls MP13 or ART TubeMP.

@@BrockDavisson Totally agree! I guess it's a matter of taste. I take your idea of opening heart and mind to approach musical composition. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Finally a pedal that will keep me away from looping for a while, really glad I ordered it!
The end was worth the watch alone🤣.
I was hesitant on ordering, but this video sold me. Nicely done!
agreed. the beat sync demo pushed me over the edge. super cool pedal!
@@HoveyKraft Yes!! That’s what did it for me. It had flavors of some early Nine Inch Nails

Awesome! I'm thinking this would be rad in the loop of my pod go.
WHY MUST THEY ALL BE SO LEGIT. My wallet hates you, but my heart.... ❤
Such a great “legit” and funny response. Thankfully this one is my first.
I feel you…Condor HiFi, then ordered this…Then got a Reverse Mode C, then a Bliss Factory😅(I’m still mad at myself that I sold my Spectre💔)
Great demo! Seems like a joy to play.
truly is :)
Ive sortta run out of room on my boards but I will really try hard to find a way to squeeze this in. The freeze sounds extremely nice
fantastic
I can't wait it looks like a blast. I might have been late on the preorder. Has there been an official ship date set?
Shipping began last Thursday (6/20/2024)

Well done! Zack, will you be coming up to Ottawa in July? If so, happy to provide accommodations and chauffeuring.
*Onward Crispin Glover!* 😎
Chase Bliss, gotta catch them all!😂
very cool! does the freeze functionality on onward differ from the freeze on lossy?🙂
