Ive been doing these two methods (tapestry and fair isle) which I learned own my own (trial and error experiences) as I was attempting to follow a confusing pattern written in Russian. It has been just now that I learned what they're called. Thank you so much!
I started making a totoro, first time ever crocheting and I used both methods to see what was easier 😂 but I'm glad these are actual ways to change colours, ive seen videos of people cutting the yarn instead of doing a tapestry and im not sure if that's a good idea

Thank you for this tutorial. I have been working on the Chevron beanie all day and I have changing colors down but I must be getting confused somewhere because my design is not matching the graph. It's consistent but not the same design. I made up a whole new on which is not what I want lol I think I'm getting confused with joining and continuing. If you ever have a chance to go more in depth with this that would be great! I haven't seen a lot of other videos like this one they seem to deal with either one thing or the other.

I work with two colors and I can't hide one inside the other. Little dots of color keep showing. What should I do to completely hide the colors inside the other?

Would this (carrying the color) for knitting a graph? I just finished a Christmas stocking with a design using bobbins and the back looks a right mess. My mother said to weave in all the ends, but those often show through the front and it would take longer than knitting the whole stocking.

Love your tutorial. I'm wondering why you are crocheting in the back loops only. I watched another tutorial and she went under both loops. Is it just a preference? Or is that used to make a "sturdier" fabric and crocheting in the back loops a "stretchier" fabric? Thanks in advance for your insight.

Can you do tapestry crochet on a scarf where you have to turn rather than rounds?
You can, yes. In the video you see them starting in the bottom right to left. When you’d chain and turn for a new row you’d read the chart from left to right. The next row you read right to left again. So you’d end up ‘snaking’ up the graph

thank you. are you crocheting in back loops for a particular reason or is fair isle or tapestry crochet always done in back loops?
Going in through the back loop keeps the pattern straight if you did that in normal crochet it would look slightly offset

I'm not too sure what her explanation is, but I've seen other tutorials that say that working in back loops makes the color transitions look a bit cleaner. Hope this helps!
It doesn’t look good with regular size yarn, you can always see the other yarn at least with my experience, it’s so frustrating 😕
