There was a TV show called 'A Haunting' that began in the early 2000s. It aired an episode on Summerwind that was fascinating. I'm looking forward to your new vid.

Most of the cases on 'A Haunting' were rehashed stories though. They came from the Warrens, two well known scam artists and frauds in the skeptic community. Even in their own books (from the mid70s to late 80s/early 90s) were contradictory.

Something like this happened to my grandmother. After she divorced her (alcoholic) first husband @ 1920, she needed a place to live & rented an old farmhouse. In the winter she would close the 2nd floor & her & her 3 kids would sleep on the 1st floor. They started hearing footsteps on the 2nd floor. They never saw anything, but one spring house repairs needed to be done. She found a steamer trunk behind a wall where the 2 by 4's had come apart. Inside were a woman's clothing and letters. She found the woman's family. Once the trunk was shipped away, the footsteps stopped.

I remember seeing this on “A Haunting” back several years ago. One of the scarier episodes of the show. It’s one of those cases that makes you wonder if it was actually the house that was haunted or the land itself. There are valid reasons why Native Americans avoided certain areas, they didn’t build villages, plant crops or even hunt in these accursed places, no matter how attractive they may have been.

    • @MysteryArchives
      @MysteryArchives  ปีที่แล้ว +52

I lived in two different places that were haunted and the night my childhood best friend died I woke up and saw her in my room and we spoke before she just faded away (I remember telling my mom and sister about it the next day and they both reassured me I had just had a weird dream till we found out later she died in a fire at that same time) .

I often think the same too as many of these really well known stories tend to end in broken families. I try to remind myself that there's little information on how solid the family unit was before they move into a haunted house. That family unit may have been on its way to broken beforehand.

When I was in the service back in the late seventies a friend of mine told me he was from Wisconsin. And when I saw the title of your story a memory was brought back to me. That friend told me that If I ever visit Wisconsin Never go to Summerwind. After watching this I got a chill up my spine. Is this story factual??? I'm staying in Florida. There's plenty of haunted places here. Some I care Not to visit and neither should you.

Were all energy, energy never dies..just changes form.I lived in a hell house similar to this with my children for 3 years:/spent $70k fixing it up.I was financially stuck there. Sometimes it was so bad that we'd sleep in our car in a church parking lot just to feel safe. It sat abandoned. Something drew me in when I went to look at it. I felt evil there but had NO idea how bad. I too made excuses but shortly after fear took over our lives. It'd call out our names, growl, cry, slam door, footsteps, all the lights in the house going off & on,scratches down the walls, things rocking fast & violently back & forth, black shadow like figures, doors shaking when my kids and I all was forced to live in my room. I had the contractors build on a 40 ft hallway,3 more bedrooms,& a bathroom for my kids. Everything was new..floors ,walls, windows, cabinets, doors, lights. The house was gutted and just a shell. We made it into a beautiful home with stainless steel appliances, stone & hard wood flooring, waterfall sinks. We was forced to leave..without choice. We all was being driven to madness. A cop & his family bought it. Only 3 days after buying it they realized their mistake. They divorced & sold the house within 1 year. Then a family with 4 children (I also had 4 children) moved in.They had heard of the horror there but the house was beautiful & affordable for them. The house sold for only $65k! Because nobody wanted it. It was over $100k home. To this day they make those poor children live in that house:( I left there 11 years ago and still to this day were effected and haunted by what we went through & still trying to understand why it happened. Ghosts & evil are real. Just because you haven't seen them..doesn't mean that they don't exist

I didn’t know Native Americans were giving land. Their philosophy was that it wasn’t anyones to be given. They had territories they claimed for hunting , farming etc….but it wasn’t bought and sold like the Caucasian system. Maybe they said he could use the land or hey like the majority of what took place. The Caucas folks appropriated it aka stole it.
Anyway if there is a spiritual world kind of sad to be a ghost mad about land and material objects you can’t do anything with because your dead.

      @@ezskreet 💯.
Ginger Hinshaw's father, Raymond Bober, decided to buy the house, and wrote about his time there in the 1979 book "The Carver Effect: A Paranormal Experience", under the name Wolffgang von Bober.
In the book, he claimed that the house was owned, and haunted by the ghost of 18th-century explorer Jonathan Carver.
Carver, he claimed, was searching for a deed sealed in the mansion’s foundation, that gave him rights to vast swaths of Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
Carver explored areas of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa, mostly in the vicinity of the Mississippi River, from 1766-1768, as part of an expedition to find a Northwest Passage.
The king of England was offering a reward, for discovering the passage, but Carver’s efforts were not recognized.
He wrote a book about the expedition, then traveled to England in hopes of getting some of the reward.
      He never returned.
Carver died in poverty in London in 1780.
After his death, his heirs claimed two Sioux chiefs had given Carver a land grant to a triangular tract of land comprising 10,000 square miles of land, from Steven’s Point, to Eau Claire, to modern day Minneapolis.
The deed, they said, was signed at the “Great Cave, May the 1st, 1767.”
The grant was never found, nor Carver ever make mention of it in his book, or other writings.
Sioux elders stated that no chiefs had ever existed by the names said to have been on the deed.
In 1823, Congress informed Carver’s heirs that they would not be giving them any rights to the land they claimed belonged to them.
“Modern scholars who have reviewed all the evidence cannot confirm the existence of any such grant to Carver, who never mentioned it in surviving records,” the Wisconsin Historical Society wrote.
"They have, however, documented a great deal of deceit, manipulation, and self-delusion by his heirs and their agents as they attempted to sell portions of the land in the decades following his death.”
      🕯.

I would know love to know what happened to the father that was taken to the mental institution. There must be a record somewhere.

Hi Kody!! What a great video👍 That was 100% worth the wait. I've watched many episodes of the Haunting on the Travel channel but I'm just not sure if I saw it or not but the way you told it was waaaaay better than a tv show. I hope you are doing well and a big THANK YOU for all you do. I had around 5 or 6 videos on YT on my watch later list and really glad I chose yours 1st. 👍👍👍👍👍✌✌👻👻👀👀👍

I live in WI and never heard this . There is another very bizarre haunting of a house that took place in Waupan WI or right outside the city limits (Waupan is very small, only a few streets, but they have a famous old state maximum security prison from the 1800's) that was so bad that, if I remember right the house was moving off its foundation and had only a few families/people attempt to live there, and the cops wouldn't even enter. Don't remember the street name and the house was from the 60's if I remember correctly, not old with history. It was very bizarre and evil.
