    As a southern woman I do use waxed paper in my kitchen. I make biscuits and dumplings often and use this to roll the dough on. When I'm finished I can just roll the mess up in the paper and throw it away. I could use parchment but it's much more expensive. You can also use it for rolling cookie and pie pastry on.

    I am a child of the 50s and my mother used to wrap our sandwiches for our school lunch with wax paper. Then they came out with sandwich bags made from wax paper and then we finally got plastic wrap. It’s in the grocery store where all the sandwich bags and plastic wrap are.

    Hello from Ottawa,. Ontario, Canada. We have Cut-Rite Wax Paper in our grocery stores. It is a long-standing company as I remember my mom wrapping coins in this wax paper and putting it in our birthday cakes as a surprise when we were teens. Now she did warn us to watch for it when we ate the cake.... must be careful... I never did that and don't advise it, and when I had my son I did not carry on that tradition because it is not really a safe idea. I did use it for saving leaves like red and green maple leaves and silver birch leaves for craft projects.

      @@janicecrowe5277 I’m an oil painter and I clean my brushes in cool water with ivory soap. It’s natural and will keep your brush/sponge supple and they will last a Long time. And just an extra tip~ if you get a stain on clothing before adding any chemical or putting in wash use cool water & ivory soap. Wash spot, rinse, repeat. It may take a little bit but I’ve gotten blood out & blueberries out. I found that tip in a book of what women done yrs ago……it works. I hope the tips help.

  • @donnagoodner8545
    @donnagoodner8545 2 ปีที่แล้ว +43

    Wax paper will not hurt your iron it helps it slide on fabric. .Years ago if you had to clean a scorched iron you would clean it and then run it over wax paper to make it glide and then run it over a towel to clean off excess wax so wouldn’t transfer to clothing.

    I think I will try plain wax paper and gather it in the middle and have the wrinkles spread outward like a broken windshield or mirror. It might look sorta like a spiderweb and make a cute BOO card for halloween. Maybe even heat it around a wax candle to decorate the candle with the pattern. I love it when my brain starts working creatively.Thanks for the inspiration.

    When I still did a lot of patchwork and quilting, I would use the wrapping of the copier paper at the office as wax paper (to iron appliqué pieces onto), worked a charm. You need to check, not all wrapping paper is waxed. Take a scrap piece of fabric and iron it onto the paper. If the fabric sticks, the paper was waxed.

    The aspect I like about faux batik paper is that it is very easy to mass produce because it is so easy to compartmentalize. You can emboss a whole bunch of wax paper and then come back iron it weeks later. You can iron the wax design on to cardstock and wait to ink it. I have some that is actually five years old from a card class and it still resists ink no problem.

    re: o.d. 37:09 “needing new cutting plates” … I’ve started an experiment, prompted by a Y.T’r that has a video on the topic, wherein I’ve bought clear table covering vinyl from the fabric store, cut it to the size of my Big Shot cutting plates, and now include them in my die cutting sandwich. One piece goes against each cutting plate; the die lays on the card stock, with each of the vinyl sheets facing that. In doing this, the die is allowed to bite deeper into the surface, making for a clean cut without biting into the cutting plate. AND, TOO, the sandwich doesn’t need to be SO tight as to contribute to WARPING the plates!! Keep your fingers crossed for me that this works! And let others know if any of you have success with this! Be well.
