This was what I was awaiting. Ganguly literally used to dismantle Murali easily till about 2003 until he started bowling the doosra and he then had an upper hand vs Dada especially in that 2008 tour.
Stepping out act has been vanished nowadays and Dada was amazing artist of those shots and look at those huge sixes and long boundary size and all the sixes went to stands and none one of the sixes just dropped on the boundary line all of them where clean and long sixes .. amazing talent
a treat to watch his dancing down the pitch sixers, just like his cover drives. Such a sweet timer of the cricket ball, has not seen a better batsman in those shots.
Very few commentators in the world can match the liveliness of Mr. Tony Greig regarding his rejoicing mode of commentary ; let the departed soul rest in ultimate peace 🕊️🕊️.
1999 world cup match vs sri lanka he hitted biggest sixes of his career. I never found dimensions of that ground but looks like six distance more than 100-110 mtrs.
Ganguly, a left hander, was always good against Murali, the greatest off-spinner who has lived. Interestingly, another batsman who played Murali well was Lara, another left hander. This seems very counterintuitive in today’s world of match-ups, when lefties are supposed to be weak against off spin. One thing I observed is Murali’s line of attack is very different from other, mostly modern off-spinners. He drifts into a left hander’s pads, pitching middle and leg and spins towards off stump. It is similar to the line of attack Warne would use against Sachin, for example. While this is decidedly more attacking, good players of spin can always use their feet and hit over the top. Normal off spinners, especially today, bowl wider of the crease and spin the ball further away from the hitting arc, making it difficult to hit and more prone to a mistimed hoick. Very interesting to observe how both bowling and batting have changed in the space of about 15 years!
@@sanjaykumarsinha6907 You are right. I think this would be harder to do against a modern off spinner. They would shorten the length and try to bowl flatter, making it harder to reach the pitch of the ball. Murali used to spin the ball with his wrist, so it would be harder for him to bowl flat. Also, being as skilled as he is, he is always looking to attack. Hence he would look to pitch it on and around the good length mostly.
@@srikanths2741Yes, you are right. Sehwag was extraordinary against off spinners in particular. It would have been fun to see him bat against Nathan Lyon.

He also said Ganguly is very week in quality fast bowling

🥰🥰🥰🥰 ufff what a time that was 😍😍😍😍 dada step out & always that gone for six
I think when it came to step out and loft spinners out of the ground , ganguly and sidhu were two of the best we ever had.

What an insight....u r very close observer of the game❤
I always think so how he play Murali so good. I am myself left handed batsman....not a good one....and I am really first against off spin.
One thing to be noticed is that Ganguly did not allow the ball to spin and never play on the backfoot. He used to pick the ball where it dropped.
