Some stunning locations captured as always. Real shame you picked up that bug, but pleased you could finish the trail. Those camping spots looked superb.
@@morgs4mountains that's good news. I agree with your thoughts on making this kind of film as something for you to look back on. I've captured a couple of wild camps with the kids and many other memorable days out.
It's important I think. Life passes so quickly and I just love trying to capture the atmosphere of what I'm doing as opposed to worrying what I need to do to capture the attention of people I don't know.
Just catching up with you on this route which certainly very beautiful place. It’s horrible when you get sick like that and happened to me twice, once in Sutherland cutting our hike short by three days I think that was mushrooms in a b and b and the other time I was leading a group of motorcyclists on a tour of the inner Hebrides, we left the bikes to spend the night at in Inverie on knoydart where everyone had a great night in the pub while I was sick all night long well I was glad I’d been there a couple of times before. Anyway TFS Dave and ATB to you. 🍺
Hi Dave. Thanks for taking the time to watch this video and for sharing your similar experience with regards to sickness when away. It was a grim night for sure and I was just glad that I was in a pension and not in my tent. It was amazing how the body recovers and the next night I slept like a baby. All the best!
Thanks for another look at these stunning mountains, made a bit somber by memorials to people lost in past conflicts, not to mention your bug. Your videos are so nicely put together and interesting for walkers it's surprising you don't have more subscribers.
Thank you so much. I didn't talk about the memorials in the video but all were very close to the Montenegro and Kosovo border and date from the recent conflict. Indeed, on my penultimate day I walked along a part of the border that is still disputed. I don't promote myself as I outlined in the video. Many people digitally market themselves but that isn't my thing. I'm pleased that you like what I have put together and it just shows what can be done with a mobile phone, a cheap microphone and a mini tripod!
Another great video, thanks for sharing. Its not a trail I have heard of before but looks a nice alternative to the Alps or Pyrenees. The illness didn't look good and not what you want on a remote mountain trail. Had a similar experience wild camping on a Munro and it was not pleasant! Noticed that you were using a different tent on this trail...have you stopped using the Tarptent Notch?
I really reccomend the Balkans. I found them to be very quiet, not mechanised, traditionally managed and superb as a result. They'll certainly change as the countries progress with their economies and I intend returning to visit other parts. As far as the eye could see were big hills. I'm taking a break from the Notch. I've used it for nearly 100 nights but am not convinced that the dyneema is as strong as it was when I bought it. In places it has become very see through and worn. I used the Terra Nova in the UK because I think it's a better tent for UK conditions. I just carried on using it for the remainder of the season. I might do a 100 night review of the Notch. For weight it's amazing. But, I'm not convinced it's my shelter of choice in really bad conditions as it has leaked three times when I have been in bad weather.
Fabulous footage as always mate.. and of all the trips I have seen you do illness is not something that I have seen you experience apart from the odd knee / foot probems.. well done on completing it in obviously uncomfortable conditions. I for one am always happy whatever you film as I know its a genuine representation of your journey. Wanted to ask, what was the snake you photographed? atb Al
The closest I can find on the snake is a Balkan whip snake. Not actually sure but it's a similar colour. Thanks for the comments on the video. It's one I'll remember for sure. So many people I met had been sick and I heard from a host that the authorities have concerns as it has a negative impact on the area reputation. It wouldn't stop me travelling to here again but I'd be even more careful with my water.
Ha Ha. That dog followed whoever was first to walk a certain part of the trail. It had accompanied another couple from Ceremi the day before. She was in good condition and appeared to just walk around the trail! Feeling much better now and looking forward to leading our anniversary walk on Saturday.

Thanks Kev. It appears that the section that I missed was probably the weakest on the trail so there is a slight silver lining!

That was hard to watch seeing you suffering. Hope you are feeling OK now. It looks pretty barren on the trail. At least you had a dog for company
