Brilliant. My ears ring constantly also. Wasn’t he a roadie for Hendrix? Dam he is a great guitarist. I think back to that show in Germany I believe in 78 ,79???? Still blows my mind watching him.
Great interview Charming Snakes is a masterpiece, I have the CD, that Big Thing rendition is just amazing. Sadly it's not on online streaming platforms.
Thank you so much! Yeah, I have the CD too. I always really liked the version that was on the hot licks video that ended up on the last dance of Mr. X. That’s the version I was talking about when I was asking Andy what the effect was on his guitar because I’ve always wondered.
Gotta love his take on the self promotion scene today.Sure there are great individual players on youtube but the things that stand the test of time are great bands that get out there and sweat as The Police did time after time. The man is a legend and wonderful to see he's still excited about actually playing live with whatever group he puts together so he is unleashed and gets to "shred".81 years old.....?Crazy!We should be so lucky.
Andy is awesome! I just hung out with him a few weeks ago. Like I said in the video, his guitar playing totally changed my musical direction when I discovered his solo work.
Such a great interview. Nicely done guys. Very relaxed and insightful conversation. I gladly liked and subscribed. Keep these coming please. Cheers & regards from Stratford, Ontario, Canada.
Great interview Johnny, would have watched sooner but wanted to be able to see it all in go, then slipped my mind, nice to know I'm not only 1 destroying my Body 😂🤘👍🎸🤘🤠
Thanks man! Yup! That’s when I asked him if he would sign a guitar for me and he said “for you I would”. I went and I saw him the next day when he was doing his book reading in San Francisco, and he signed my guitar.
Paris, from D.C. having followed The Police for years, there are different levels of interest between the three members of the band: Stewart - does short videos and is very public. Andy - a few videos and comments. Sting - almost nothing.
Andy's old school - wants to share his actual musicianship's creative output, as opposed to most "artists" in the music industry nowadays wanting to share their narcissistic faces/booties to make up for their little to nonexistent "musicianship".
Andy is phenomenal. The other thing about doing things is that back then, they'd cut tracks live in studio, then overdub. Now, it's all click tracked and that's kind of lame.
Well, Andy. Though I love your music (with Police not the solo stuff) I think it's pathetic and arrogant the way you react on describing the Twitter/X / Instagram thing So many people tell you there how much they "love" you and how they recall the time when they were at a Police show or bought the records and all that...and you show that disrespect to all those people...when you say ..."bullshit..." and say you have someone you provides the stuff and who takes care of this. Why don't you just quit instagram or X, if you don't care about this? Shame on you!!e
To think that Andy is 81 years old absolutely boggles the mind! A great guitarists and one of the good guys.
Andy’s the man! 🎸👍
Lately I've been watching all the interviews with Andy.
What a great interesting guy😊
Cool! Yeah he's awesome!
Yup me too could listen to him for hours. Great chat!
BRILLIANT!!! It's GREAT that you've got him on your show.
Hey, thank you so much man! Was great talking to him again.
What I love about Stewart Copeland's Super 8mm movie Everyone Stares, Sting and Stewart were great, but Andy was really the big star.
This was *SO AWESOME!!!* YAY - Johnny!!! Andy is an *ABSOLUTE LEGEND!!!!!* 💗💗💗
Thank you Shauna! Andy's the man!
That rescue story blew my mind. What a revelation.
Ace interview Johnny - a favourite guitar player of mine. One Train Later is an excellent book too.
Thank you man! Yeah, a few of the times I saw Andy was when I went to his book readings for that book back in 2006.
Brilliant. My ears ring constantly also. Wasn’t he a roadie for Hendrix? Dam he is a great guitarist. I think back to that show in Germany I believe in 78 ,79???? Still blows my mind watching him.
Johnny!😎. The grooviest interview yet!
I agree!
Very nice interview!!! God bless Andy Summers!!! 🙏 He's absolutely superb!!! Great with The Police, great on his own!!!

Great interview Johnny, would have watched sooner but wanted to be able to see it all in go, then slipped my mind, nice to know I'm not only 1 destroying my Body 😂🤘👍🎸🤘🤠

Like Andy’s honesty, age becomes him. Love this guy, brilliant musician.
He’s awesome!
Nice job, Johnny Beane!!
Thanks man! 😎🎸👍
Andy did actually use a flanger back in the day, on the montserrat video with jools he mentions using a flanger, echoplex, and compressor.
That's classic footage!
I'm listening now... while getting ready for my show!
Fun show last night!
@JohnnyBeane yeah man... always fun hanging with you Johnny... Mully's funny as hell! Lol

Awesome interview! Remember, when we met him in Alameda?
Thanks man! Yup! That’s when I asked him if he would sign a guitar for me and he said “for you I would”. I went and I saw him the next day when he was doing his book reading in San Francisco, and he signed my guitar.
Killer man!
Thank you, man!
AMAZING, Johnny! Hi Andy!
I was wondering the other day, does Andy have any siblings?
Thanks man! I'll ask him the next time I see him.
Hell yes Johnny! Killing it bro! Best channel ever, those other guys can suck it!
subbed!
Gotta keep rockin! 😎🎸👍
the pedal ties in now!
It sure does!
great! what amplifier and speaker did Andy Summer use to record Message in a Bottle in the studio?
I’ll ask him.
30:30 ; interview turns into Exclusively Van Halen for a moment;) noice 🤘
Pretty cool, huh!

Yeah, they’re very different personalities and that’s what made the police the police.
@@JohnnyBeane Stewart: party in the room. Andy: easy going, acid wit and doesn't suffer fools. Sting: cerebral intravert, who is reflective.
Andy's old school - wants to share his actual musicianship's creative output, as opposed to most "artists" in the music industry nowadays wanting to share their narcissistic faces/booties to make up for their little to nonexistent "musicianship".

Andy is the man! Yeah, now you can do anything and it’s great but at the same time you don’t have to be really good.
I love Andy but I wish he was more of a recluse....needs to add some mystery to his mystique .....
He’s a great dude
