“And the lick I’ve chosen is quite possibly one of the sickest licks I’ve ever heard” best guitar commentary 😂 it really is incredible. Great video Chad, great analysis and playing. Thank you for posting 👍
I love the fact that you’re not only analyzing George’s playing but also his body/facial language. I’m not sure the planet will ever see another player like George, he is the true definition of one of a kind
So I’ve been a metal head for years, and I’ve recently had a change in tastes. In the process, that means I’ve become extremely interested in jazz, and less distortion. Some serious voodoo happening in those fingers man. Good video!
George has been analyzed so many times by so many different guys he does things at lighting speed and precision with impeccable timing. I be wondering is he thinking of all his runs and riffs beforehand or is he just reacting naturally? Being a former child prodigy his mind, skills and approach is just different, he just does it and let everyone else figure it out. He himself may not can explain all that he does his musicial mind is off the charts. You do a fantastic job explaining a section that he does and it took awhile for you (a very good player) to figure it out. He has tons of songs and remarkable solos that make even an accomplished player shake their heads. To continually come up with different complex solos over a long and distinguished career without being redundant says he is a master of the guitar. Nice job explaining for us regular guitarist.
Hello im a guitar guy have a eyesight problem but still at the learning area so your inspiring me to play more.and keep the playing coming I love your music.peace
My friend was AT the Weekend in L.A. concert. Man, I wish I was there to hear this song performed. One of the great live jazz pop albums ever recorded.
This is great Chad! I dig how you put some emphasis on the actual phrasing & dynamics of the line as opposed to just a harmonic analysis. Those picking dynamics of George are really something.
Jeez man! That’s great! I’ve just made the switch to the Benson kind-of upward pickslant technique and it’s made a world of difference. Thanks for this, I’ll will definitely be adding this to my vocabulary!
Best thing TH-cam has recommended to me in a while. Instant subscribe, and then seeing that you also make IDM and sample Alan Watts... I couldn't be more thrilled to find you
That brother's been around a long time. He singlehandedly bridged classical music to jazz. Few have done what this brother's done. There's Deep Purple; John McLaughlin, Yes, and others. But brother George was the first nationally broadcast.
Thanks for the great video. The lick is a variation of a lick that Wes Montgomery often used eg. in Four on Six. It’s much easier if you rework the fingering to play it with some slides and only 3 fingers. I’m pretty sure that’s how benson plays it too.
as a musician that enjoys martial arts, seeing his flow state reminded me of a fighter totally zoned in as well. licks are a lot like martial arts combos that one keeps holstered i guess. working at GC, a person asked me what the difference was between riffs and licks... this video is a great break down on that difference.
Great video George Benson is a phenomenal guitarist thanks for sharing. Can you share your personal insight and interpretation of guitar? It's refreshing to hear someone who's gifted that's unique and different. Blessings
That's a cool analysis and I do that a lot I like Melody Faye and I draw e ergy from Bbking Ray Parker and all of the blues world.its funny but I listen to alot of players and in my head I see myself playing my own sturming and they are there also .and I find myself listening like you to to those complexlicks and wonder on the cheap guitar that im aying the lick I hear but im learning more about the positions and licks so here I am.and I really really loved the review.
I think the ultimate sickest George Benson link is when he’s in the B section on affirmation any breaks into the improvisation soloing park any place is amazing lake that I have no idea how we did it people have transcribed it and I have no idea how they were able to transcribe it
Hi Chad, and greetings to you from Ireland, where I have just discovered and subscribed to your channel. This is a fantastic lesson and George has always been a favorite of mine, despite the fact that I'm not a "jazzer" by any means. You are a fantastic player yourself, and I look forward to checking out some more of the content on your channel. Do you have any suggestions on how to pick the lick - as in alternate picking, economy picking etc. Stay well in these strange and unpredictable times. :-) Sean.
GB does construct his licks and Breezing solo is a perfect example. there’s a lot of recordings even now are not much different than the original solos on that album. The more interesting question is why he chose to do a C Minor arpeggio etc. because then you can construct your own darn solos using your technique.
Wow!!!! Nice brother!!!! I wanna play like u and George. Lol How many years did it take u to develop your right hand. Did you practice everyday and how long
Nice job on this video. One comment however; why didn't you talk about what the right hand does on this lick? It's so important to the execution and style.
During arpeggio, when I lift my pinky finger from a string really fast it causes the string to vibrate and interfere with the next note on the adjacent string. How do you mute it?
I didn't know that CJ can play jazz guitar
aaahh sheet here we go ageen
Aaahhhhaahahaa, damn true
#gta lol
I told you to follow the damn changes, CJ!
ahah thats the missing easter egg
“And the lick I’ve chosen is quite possibly one of the sickest licks I’ve ever heard” best guitar commentary 😂 it really is incredible. Great video Chad, great analysis and playing. Thank you for posting 👍
"It's fast, it's beautiful, and it's just sick". You said it well! And put some justice on it with your lesson! Thanks!
This explains a lot about Benson's playing. How he takes something simple and just plays it extremely well. Thanks.
Dude, I'm just 53 seconds into this video and I feel like it's Christmas time. Thanks. I love GB.

Excellent video! George is the greatest. He makes it look so easy!!
This is awesome. George Benson is absolutely one of the best guitarists ever!
This lesson is pure Gold! Ty.....
GB is the best Jazz/funk/blues guitarist💥and oh man what a voice too.
I enjoyed this very much. I first started listen to George in 1972. Thanks!
This is some mighty fine guitar playing and instruction.

I really like the way you break it down and explain. Thanks.
GB's the goat
Hello im a guitar guy have a eyesight problem but still at the learning area so your inspiring me to play more.and keep the playing coming I love your music.peace
That's cool man. The guys got a relaxing voice.
My friend was AT the Weekend in L.A. concert. Man, I wish I was there to hear this song performed. One of the great live jazz pop albums ever recorded.
What a great teacher you are.
Flow=FE (focused energy). Transcends preparation (space-time continuum) and morphs into application. Great share.
This is great Chad! I dig how you put some emphasis on the actual phrasing & dynamics of the line as opposed to just a harmonic analysis. Those picking dynamics of George are really something.
Thank you so much, Chad, for taking some of the mystery out of George's playing. Can't wait till I get home from my morning errands and dig into this!
Excellent Points , Chad 👍🏽
From One (of Many..) Benson-nite to another 🙏🏽✊🏾🙏🏽🤗
Amen 🙏🏽✊🏾🙏🏽👍🏽
THis is great, thank you. Feel free to do more Benson licks studies, it is so interesting !
Jeez man! That’s great! I’ve just made the switch to the Benson kind-of upward pickslant technique and it’s made a world of difference. Thanks for this, I’ll will definitely be adding this to my vocabulary!

Great lick and great playing man!
Great video, thanks for taking the time to put it up😀
Amazing breakdown Chad, thanks!
Beautiful
Excellent video, thanks for sharing. Best to you man!
Your right hand is amazing, to be able to pick clearly at that speed plus all those accents... I think that takes way longer than the left hand. 🙏👍
Great touch and great analysis!

Thank you so much Chad. Now I have something to work on for a long time.

Great video. G.B. is a beast.

Great playing CJ. I might be wrong but On GB video isn’t he on the 5th fret?
Dude, George Benson makes me not want to play sometimes. Have you ever heard him play something that actually made you cry?
Have you heard

Love that smooth style…album “ Bodytalk”! And “ Bad Benson” !
Amazing! Love this thank you
thanks Bro for showing us these notes.. I'll learn how long it takes. thanks
Nice job.
Excellent video man
Great stuff!
Benson is one of the fastest guitar players I ever seen. Only in the last 10-15 years have I seen guys that can match him.
Great video, thank you!!!
good job friend
Cool !! Nice trick (may be George had to listen CL. Debussy "Arabesque" for Piano ;-)
Really good lesson please add some more if you can. You touch on theory without trying to confuse as to show off. Thanx

I love the intro when you look like you're in outer space LOL. Thanks for this video man I felt my left pinky crack while playing this.
I can add this in right away to a pattern i came up with!

This video is class. Very Bob Ross-like vibes.
Thank you!

Dude, you're awesome. Plus, I want your guitar!
Nice, dude! Thanks!

Are the last four notes: C Bb G Eb D C? With the use of technology we have available today, that is what I am getting. Please advise?
You're still correct a year later. This dude made a mistake. It's also at the 8th fret.
Nice job on this video. One comment however; why didn't you talk about what the right hand does on this lick? It's so important to the execution and style.
Good laaaard. Subscribed
Your picking technic? Economic or up and down?
During arpeggio, when I lift my pinky finger from a string really fast it causes the string to vibrate and interfere with the next note on the adjacent string. How do you mute it?
Awesome playing and beautiful guitar - what model it is?
Great! Which kind of pick do you use? Dunlop Jazz3?
Chad can u talk about your picking technique
Yes please! I've seen other players like justus west use this technique please explain if you're willing!
Here we go again
This Benson run has always amazed me - "ascending/descending chromatic" at blistering speed - th-cam.com/video/tdHQABIy96k/w-d-xo.html
wow CJ can really play some difficult lines!
