I'm 67. Became a Dion fan in grade one with run around sue. Been to see him four times over the years and can say for sure n no one ever wasted their money on a Dion ticket.
I've got a couple years on you and our stories are pretty close to the same. I can still see my mom dance around the kitchen to.Dion and making breakfast for my brother and I.
I'm 68 and I've been listening to this cat since I was about 18. That's fifty years and Dion sounds as cool and vibrant as he always has. He is truly one incredibly special individual.
I'm the same age as you Sonny, perhaps slightly younger. I had absolutely NO IDEA until today that Dion continued on after the late 50's and early 60's. AND, I've been a lifelong Blues fan. I'm totally blown away. This is fantastic music!
We are super Dion fans. We have not only seen him a number of times, but I met him when I went out with his sister for a summer. Later, when I got married, I found out that my wife went out with him and they are still friends to this day. At one of his concerts, he dedicated a song to her, which we recorded. Dion is a legend and an icon. He has recorded with other stars who were delighted to sing with him because of his living legend status. All hail the REAL KING of rock and roll and still going strong.
Superb. Dion? Dion? That guy from the doo-wop era? Damn. He was always great but this shows what an 80-year old Italian Bronx cool cat can do. Still firing on all cylinders & joined by some other dynamic vocal engines. I'm going to have to eat this cake real slow and enjoy every bite.
Most people and I was once one of them, categorised Dion and the Belmonts as a doo-wop act, but they were a little more sophisticated than that. A lot of the background vocals that were done by the Belmonts were based on what Dion had heard from great horn players such as King Curtis and Red Prysock. As a teenager, he was a regular attendee at the R&B shows at the Apollo Theater in Harlem and heard a lot of Curtis and Prysock and many others and he worked hard to adapt the horn sounds to the Belmonts backing vocals, not always with great success or without some resistance from the band! They must have got better though, if the amount of success that they enjoyed is any indication. Of course, whether alone or with a vocal group, Dion was always something unique - a Bronx blues man and I'm sure they're kinda thin on the ground!
"The Son of Skip James" ... indeed. Dion has been there and back, and he's lived the Blues. Came up the hard way, singing for tips in bars as a kid. He's still got it ... no doubt.
This Man's witness of Faith and commitment to Recovery has been a Huge Encouragement on my journey Home 💪🙏 Got to chat with Dion in the West Palm Beach area many many years ago. His Yes to his Creator has touched Many Many Souls. Don't Grow tired of doing Good, God Wins Biggly 💪 Viva Cristo Rey 💪🙏
Dion sweeps me away and transforms me. I came to the Lord Jesus Christ on October 6,1977 and stumbled onto Dion's music 4yrs later. My newborn son, was brought up listening to this. All is well and I am grateful for this man and his music
Dion, do you realize that you are now in your EIGHTH decade of recording?? And as much as I love your music of each of the preceding decades, this may be your best work yet.
Wow...Wow... what an album. Born in the 60’s, Dion was a little before my time, but this album is a must own....great artists...Sam, Joe, Billy, Van the Man and the list goes on! I feel for the thumbs down peps.
Wow! That was just great.. Is that the same Dion, as in Dion and the Belmonts, that toured with Buddy Holly back in 1959... Age is sure just a number....
This pretty much sums up my misspent youth growing up in Chicago chasing a love I could not hold. Yeah, this pretty much sums up my misspent youth in Chicago, chasing love I could not hold. Now, I got a place for my baby, but she’s gone to San Francisco and I’m just slowly getting old. Ha! Ha!
If you like scotch , fine wine , and a toke at 11:59 pm You'll appreciate this song ..Dion still cool writing lyrics you've somehow. felt before .Van Morrison fills the cracks and steals the feel out of your night wind.. Al
Nice sound...sure beats Justin B. by a country mile. Ariana Grande must of been singing the blues after going to a haunted graveyard...she claims she was attacked by a demon. Her own story !!! But this blues song & sound is truly a gem...inspires...the down and out guy meets a special lady and says we can make it you and me in Chicago .... The girl gave him motivation plus ...high octane . ( hope they say a daily Lord's Prayer along the way for "good measure". From bluesville to rainbowville.
