I don’t understand for life of me why southerners enjoy gridlock traffic. MARTA could be so much better if people and politicians pushed for a more coherent system. Plenty of cities have one. DC is the closest example
Atlantan here, born and raised.
Coherence of the system is important of course, but what people and especially politicians should push for first is making the current system dependable, safe, and clean, in that order. Why is it not that way? Marta leadership is a quasi government entity of its own. It is indebted to interests like the union and other things that stymie the pursuit of those very basic goals. People can talk about the suburbs, racism, no state funding and any number of other factors but it really comes down to MARTA's own management amd who it is really trying to serve.
Stop asking people questions especially those who don't even use Marta
Fix the crazies peeing on public transport first otherwise ppl won't ride it even if there are more. Just sayin. I rode it for school and I hated it. Felt like I endangered my life everyday.
Yes, there's a lot to resolve about the current service and rider experience. This is just a BASIC thing. Actually, it's sub-basic, and yet it persists. No wonder the suburbs are saying no.
I’ll give the mayor an A for effort!
More than juat effort. He's the best mayor Atlanta had in quite some time. Kiesha left behind a real mess with the morale in APD. Without police protection, little else matters. Andre is resolving that and working on other things, too.
Ha ha ha. Street car. No one rides that thing.
If you divide the total street car project cost by the ticket sales, it cost atl around $10k per rider. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@jcbell-dh1bm and we spent $400,000 fixing the street cars recently. The tinted windows are a nice touch. It makes it harder for taxpayers to see that they're practically empty all day. When we finally admit that these have been a failure, I wonder how many millions of dollars it will cost to scrap them and dig up the rails.
You're hurting the feelings of the couple hundred ppl that ride the street car daily.
Please stop whining about progress. Atlanta, Marta, and Metro Atlanta surrounding suburban counties must progress into the future 👌 All major U. S. Cities with mass transit 🚇 😎 went through what metro Atlanta has to go through. Nothing come without struggle . Only the city of Atlanta, Fulton, and Dekalb taxpayers paid for Marta at start of construction in 1976. NOW our neighboring Clayton county taxpayers are paying into MARTA present expansion. Thanks Clayton county. Clayton county's additional expansion lines are coming 😅. GOD BLESS 🙌 🙏
The most pertinent thing is not where, but when. The second guy nailed it on the head. Without a timeline and ready funding, they are not talking about helping us with our traffic in any way. They are flapping their jaws about doing this for the next generation ..maybe. Starting it when we are retired and today's 1st graders are entering the workforce.
If this is prioritized behind the streetcar expansion and stays that way, then even that projection isn't going to happen. Expanding the streetcar will take decades, consume a generation of funding, and one day, our children will end up saying, "For what?"
Before they put a shovel in the ground anywhere, they should go back to the board and re-prioritize.
The West End Station never even got completed!
Two stations in Oakland City??
Yeah! Four more public urinals for ATL.
This is stupid and insane! Definitely not going to solve the real issue of traffic! Come up with a better resolution to eleviate traffic! Marta rideshare has been down forever so why not fix that first. Then stop the homeless people from trashing and pissing everywhere
Transportation is for the local people who live in Atlanta... not for by-pass traffic on the highway 🙄
Stop bringing up the homeless if you're ass ain't going to help them off the street.
Stop bringing up the homeless if you're ass ain't going to help them off the street!!
The real issue for traffic IS the mf transit. rideshare doesnt do nun to solve traffic and they been tryna solve the homeless problem with projects like the melody
