Some of the criticisms here are not entirely off base even though I agree with some of what Bryan is saying. I DO think there is a case to say that long ball was not the emphasis, and the concentration was to get the first down. Conservative calling. It was. At the same time I do have to say, the quarterback with the confidence, the skill, and desire to shine would throw if he could see it. My take on it is that '23's QB couldn't see them. I can't say whether he was concerned about being under pressure, his depth perception was starting to play up, or he simply couldn't read the defenses and properly do his check list of who to look for, how to time it, and where his receivers were. Finally, I do not think there is much question that this year's collection of receivers is superior to last year's, and I do no t think it is close, at least at the outset of the season.
