As a bass player/DJ, a super fan of James Brown (since his 1st song) who rode around behind his casket in Harlem - blasting his music from 145th st and Lenox Ave to the Apollo - I must say that - If I don't or didn't know that I have soul.... I got it now because I've never seen a female or a person this young that gave him respect as a trail blazer. My favorite saying is - " It wasn't a party without playing a James Brown song.

Take a listen to Clyde Stubblefield play “Cold Sweat” by James Brown and you’ll see what I mean about the “groove”.
