Lyrics:
Go be the voice of God
Go live the life putting death to shame
Go be the voice of God
Go live the life putting death to shame
I wasn't force fed what I think
And I don't care if you think I'm brainwashed for what I believe
But it sure wasn't from people reminding me
That I'm still a failure every Sunday morning
It's my fault, it's always my fault
Every time I have a problem that can't be solved
It's my fault, it's always my fault
Every time I have a problem that can't be solved
Go be the voice of God
Go live the life putting death to shame
Go be the voice of God
Go live the life putting death to shame
Tell me I've made progress
All I want is to make you proud
Are the lungs in my chest still working?
'Cause sometimes I want to shout, "Where's my savior now?"
Life and death is all perspective
Life and death is all perspective
Let's go!
Just don't give up, it's not worth it
Life and death is a matter of perspective
Give in, you know it's your purpose
Even if you know you'll never deserve it
Go be the voice of God
Go live the life putting death to shame
Go be the voice of God
Go live the life putting death to shame
Tell me I've made progress
All I want is to make you proud
Are the lungs in my chest still working?
'Cause sometimes I want to shout, "Where's my savior now?"
Tell me I've made progress
All I want is to make you proud
Are the lungs in my chest still working?
'Cause sometimes I want to shout, "Where's my savior now?"
God, where are you?
God, where are you now?
There's no substance, nothing's real anymore
But I'm still swinging, fighting like never before
Go be the voice of God
Go live the life putting death to shame
Go be the voice of God
Go live the life putting death to shame
Go be the voice of God
Go live the life putting death to shame
Go be the voice of God
Go live the life putting death to shame
9 years later, and i still think its a crime this song was left off being put on the first LP... My personal favorite off the debut EP!
As a person that grew up in the church and a pastors kid, these lyrics could not be more real to me. "i dont care if you think im brainwashed for what i believe...but it sure wasnt from people reminding me that im a failure every sunday morning" ..some of the worst judgemental people are in the church, so its important not to live your life based on their "rules and religions" but to live how the Bible tells us to and to love people no matter what
THATS SO DEEP. If you have a relationship with the Lord. That’s all you need!
I grew up in church and grew to resent them all. Especially since I knew all the bad things wrong with the church since my foster mom only talked on the phone with speaker mode 😂😂
You had me until the last sentence. It’s a shame they could treat you in such a way and you still follow that nonsense.
totally fell for that bass during the breakdown
DAT BASS, fucking jizzed
100% nut
I love how your profile pic is the cover of and justice for all
i always throught caleb's screaming chaneled alot more energy and frustration than most metal signers out there, idk why so many people hate it....
+Tremblay Louis (FlamenHound) I don't mind his vocals, so much as his lyrics. He has some cool songs lyrically, like "I have a problem", But too many songs are about god accepting him for not going to church on sundays. I like the music a lot, But his vocals can be too whiny at times.
I'm not bashing him, But it's clear his vocals are targeting to a younger audience or those who are into religion.
I dont think his vocals or lyrics are targeting anything, hes just screaming what he believes he should, its alot of personal stuff,
+Tremblay Louis (FlamenHound) Caleb's screaming is always perfect with the music
+Tremblay Louis (FlamenHound) I feel the same. I like his unique sound, but I do understand how some might not enjoy it.
+Tremblay Louis (FlamenHound) I love the emotion in his voice. It sounds less produced, like Touche Amore and La Dispute. I like when the screams are raw.
"I don't care if you think I'm brainwashed for what I think"
Perfection
Sarah Beasley what i believe. lol
Jared King I know, I was saying that like I was saying it...yeah..
One of THE most powerful Lyrics ever dude!
This song is very important to me because for years i've been trying to make my parents and family understand that i hate going to church and I hate everything church stands for. I do believe in God and I have my own faith, I don't believe that not going to church make me a bad person and will send me straight to hell. It's good to know I'm not alone in all of this. There are more bad people going to church every single day than me that never goes, I believe more in God than they ever will.
Totally agreed
amandahasahitlist I like to think that most religion is being given a bad image by followers who misinterpret laws, and also by priests who don't exactly do their jobs properly, if ya know what I'm saying
amandahasahitlist Biblicaly speaking, it is said that where two or more believers gather, God will be there also. I say that to say that there is nothing wrong with being a Christian and not attending a church, just so long as you make time for your own faith on your own and with other believers. I have a friend who does not attend a real church, instead her and several of her friends meet once a week and hold their own little church.
Personally I attend a church but it is a very open church. We have a band that plays rock music and occasionally it gets kind of heavy. The preacher tells jokes on stage. We have gay members and the pastor doesn't treat them any differently than anyone else. We have a wide range of ages and races in our church. We are one church that does it right. But on the flip side, the last church I attended was more akin to what you talked about which is why I left and went without church for 7 months.
I enjoy church, I enjoy preaching, the music, the atmosphere. But not everyone does, and that's okay, that kind of church is not for everybody and they are no less of a Christian than those who are at a church every Sunday.
David Funderburk I'd love to have a church around here that does what yours does, sadly my country has such bullshit culture about religions none of them openly accept a change. So i have my own kind of faith. Thanks for your words.
amandahasahitlist you're welcome, what country do you live in?
Listen, i don't follow any religion. But this song is still beautiful. The way I view this song is to not be ashamed of what you believe and to follow whatever you believe.
Yep, I think I might add it to my playlist perhaps. Really hesitant though because I just don't like to hear "god" said out loud so much. 3 or less times is like my limit haha xD
I came here for the alligator, but I stayed for the music.
i just laughed so hard i farted
I'd rather them have a zebra, personally.
TypicalZebra Typical...

For all those debating the elements of this video that you supposedly view as a counterpoint to the message, they are symbols. The beautiful woman symbolizes just that, beauty. The alligator is a metaphor for power. It's the contrast between these two that make them meaningful, and this is further visualized by the video being in black and white. The entire concept is the duality of these things. Mortality and eternity (as shown by the hourglass and Newton's cradle), power and beauty (the woman and the alligator), existentialism and death (the fish and the lightbulb). To those complaining about these things somehow being anything less than perfect imagery (many of you are saying you're disappointed by the use of a scantily clad woman), you need to step outside of the blinding light that you're standing in and divine what the actual meanings of these symbols are. Also, this is just how I see it, so I could be wrong, but using the imagery as they did actually increases the meaningful nature of the song itself. I loved it, keep it up, guys.
right on man! I directed this video, you nailed it.
Score! I was hoping that was the case. Beautiful video, man. I absolutely loved it.
Brandon Elrod Dude *fist bump* Nailed it.
"Tell me I've made progress all I want is to make you proud." my favorite thing.
Caleb's highs have gotten.... WOW.
i used to despise his vocals dude. but holy fuck i love them and this band, so much
I know he's talking about how some churches are corrupt, but my church has never been like most. We're the most helpful, loving, and understandable church I've ever been too. We don't do it for the money, but we accept all people. We want to make lives new, and show people that God is a relationship, and actually apply the scripture to their lives not just say words and then say "do this." We provide reasons, and state why it's important. I really do pray that more churches could be like this.
Same here! I get really involved in my church and I can truly see the good intentions everyone has within it. The people are never negative like a lot of people say they are.
WHY CANT MY CHURHC BE LIKE YOURS? I hate my church.
As is mine.I don't think Calebs problem is necessarily with the Body but with the people who pervert Christianity.
Warrior Tha Witt If you hate your church, why do you go?
I'm forced to by my fucking dad/step mom. Trust me, I would never show up if I didn't have to. Oh well, once I ship off to college this late August I will never go anymore ever again for the rest of my life!!!
I’m in love...still
Someone play this in front of the Westboro Baptist Church
Agatha Mayrinck true haha
They’re a Christian band
back, when Beartooth was about insane amount of energy, emotions, frustration and raw instruments. That fucking bass is so disgusting, gritty and sharp. Screams are so raw with a little bit of insanity and lyrics are really important for my believes in life. More than just music. I feel this shit.
you know it dude i wish this band kept this style!
@@chonkassSM64 yeahh, i also miss more raw tone, like heavy guitar feedback and garage-like production.
@@jackcravford8744 yea it’s very rare to find a band this GOOD that has such open emotion that everyone can feel just through listening to it
@@slipknotmetal8101 check out Norma Jean then.
I head banged so hard, I hit my desk and I now have a gash. As I post this, the doctor lady is putting in stitches while listening to this, while head banging. Even the old dude who came in for a check up said, "that's some good music".
Hahaha wow dude!
Haha awesome man!!!
i fuckin love this guys scream
They aren't that special. it's just false chord screams, really nothing special.
+CTCDarkness #butthurt
+Da TWOchanz it's not butt hurt. it's the truth.
it may be a regular scream but the emotion behind it is absolutey insane which makes it so much fun to listen to
they are very underrated..they deserve rise or fearless records i swear
That'll turn them into what Attack Attack was... complete garbage.
Yeah, I think Red Bull is perfect for them right now.
Kyle Houtby
yeah true...but still they should be with a bigger record than Red Bull
JacobKilledBatman
How so?
The Acacia Strain is fine.^ I dont know about any other bands that are good, just the majority suck.
There's no subtance!
Nothing's real anymore!
But I'm still swinging!
Fighting like never BEFORE
If you're confused about what this song's meaning is, I'll break it down for you.
Caleb believes in God and follows the word of the bible. That's it. He doesn't approve of the church's view and this song is about how he hates everything the church stands for, hence the lyric "I don't care if you think I'm brainwashed for what I believe, but it sure wasn't from people reminding me
That I'm still a failure every Sunday morning". He explains how he wants to make God proud despite not following
a specific church, or a church at all for that matter. Not to start a religious debate or anything, but for example, the facts are, the Bible says NOTHING about gay relations in particular being wrong, yet the church bashes on it all the time.
Very very well explained. I was thinking about this meaning song. Big thanks.
That's ur opinion. I dont share it though.
The song feels like it's written from the perspective of an atheist, or at least it makes more sense from the perspective of an atheistic person
@@lunahateless5204 as an atheist I can agree with that
Leviticus 18:22
Leviticus 20:13
1 Corinthians 6:9-10
The Bible says homosexuality is a sin and it says to hate what God hates. However the Bible also says to love everyone so it's the lifestyle and actions that true Christian's hate, not the people.
THESE GUYS PUT ON SUCH A KICKASS SHOW
I cant stop listening to this band. Haven't heard a band this good in a while. All my old bands are turning more pop crap. Im in love
Which bands are you talking about?
Boy do I have news for you
They remind me of The Chariot with a little bit more scene added.
And what scene would that be ?
I kinda agree but at the same time, the chariot was pretty unique in itself.
I'd like you to please point out this said scene. I seen none. If you are referring to the cleans, a lot of heavier bands are adopting cleans now.
that bass tho
This band sings what i always want to yell
Sream the lyrics in random peoples faces. :3
Just here again , vibing to all the old Beartooth songs
2020 been a shitty year
I was obsessed with them for a long time they will always be amazing
the girl's name is Lavinia Postolache, she is Miss World Romania and looks like she's doing movies and commercials. From beauty pageants to rock music videos, nice variety : )
This was the song that made me fall in love with Beartooth. It's got it all: smooth cleans, nasty screams and roars, killer riffs. Such a talented band, one of the best I've ever seen live as well.
Caleb Shomo is probably one of the most underrated vocalists in this genre
It would be real cool if the would play this song live sometime, It's one of their best IMO
+epicnate98 i like the way you think , but maybe they dont play it because its a religous based song
sphere shadow Maybe, but Dead has religious parts too, and that doesn't stop them from playing it live.
+epicnate98 They do play this song live, I've seen them at least 3 times, and each time the band played this song. (:
+epicnate98 caleb can't sing this
+Thasis Tsitoum I've seen them 3 times and I assure you he can lol
"Tell me I've made progress, all I want is to make you proud!"
2:57 what an amazing use of gritty low end bass guitar for the breakdown. gorgeous!
I love this song so much for the sheer talent and passion/pain behind it. It's an amazing piece of music that hits home.
I was watching videos of them live and they look great live. Caleb was diving off of the stage and other crazy shit! Looks like a fun concert to attend. Long live BEARTOOTH!
they are Crazy live!!!!
A ceiling fan got ripped out at a venue of one of their first shows. Look up the official live vid for "I Have A Problem", that's the show it happened at.
I'm usually okay with a little screaming but not this much, however I love this bands music!!! Its sort of unusual for me, but I love beartooth's music!
I agree with you on all accounts. They are just so fucking good.
I think people call it metalcore? Lololololol
Sergio Martinez It has a mix of metalcore, but it has much more punk and hardcore influence than metal.
Jayce Michael that is what we call post hardcore
You should listen to Reckless and Relentless! Good shit
Heaviest song they've made yet. It's by far my favorite, too. 15/10 Would replay 22200000 times.
I don't see how you can like heavy music and NOT like Beartooth
that's what I love about Caleb. he believes in God and Jesus but he doesn't follow religion. religion sucks the life out of people. it's so much better to have a personal relationship with God instead of following religion.
Jenna Gibson It's not like he's alone in that. Believing in just a god isn't that rare.
Jenna Gibson That's like the author Anne Rice. She became a Christian after many years in the early 2000's but she gave up labeling herself as a religious Christian all together in 2010 but still believes in God and follows Christ.
Gaius Caligula I know, I mean like he's a christian, but he doesn't stand by religion. he's a Christ follower, but he doesn't let the religious label hold him back (:
***** my point was that he doesn't act like a stereotypical christian. he doesn't just believe in God. he has a relationship with God and he makes it known. the word "Christian" was created by non-christians. the title was given to Christ followers by non-believers because of how different they acted from everyone else. nowadays people call themselves christians because they believe God exists in the sky somewhere. having a relationship with God is being a christian, believing in God is being a believer. it's 2 very different things.
Jenna Gibson i agree 100% a relationship with God and the religion Christianity aren't the same. Christianity's like the surface and a relationship with God is the core but a lot of Christians are still on the surface. I don't label my relationship with God as a religion because it's not. It's more than a religion. It's a relationship. I apologize if some of that didn't make since lol
After hearing The Surface it’s really cool going back and seeing how much they’ve grown.
i like this band and the lyrics, i think it is good because it shows not all metal is about negative things...and not always about something "bad" to the stereotype of it being so.
I respect their conviction, I don't have a problem with christian music or lyrics as long as it's what they truly believe. I don't personally believe it but to speak your mind and be confident in your message is enough to make me a fan.
This is so shit.
Now that i have your attention
This is amazing!
I was about to go freak on you. This band is so good.
***** Hardly can be considered a band when it's one person...lol.
Omg, yeah. I always forget that Caleb does it all. He's awesome:P
MonkeyJazz75 Oh, so the three other guys playing instruments with Caleb that don't look anything like Caleb are also Caleb? Cool, thanks for clearing that up.
MonkeyJazz75 Just because he writes all of the music doesn't mean he performs all of it, dunce.
im not anywhere close to Christian, but, I fucking love Beartooth and this song. it's so well written and it's nice to hear something that doesn't sound like every other band in the scene.
red bull has their own record label? who knew..
Obviously not the starter band fangirl
Isaac Boyle um excuse me?
Pierce the sirens.
Isaac Boyle yes. What is your point?
Redbull has everything. Do you live under a rock?
love the bass in this one
they should have had a bear in this music video. and made its teeth interactive lol
This band needs more support
CrazyPhantom not anymore ahaha
There's these radio stations that say "Today's Greatest hits" or "Valley's greatest hits." and yet they don't show bands like this or We came as romans or the devil wears prada. etc. who have over 2 to 3 million hits on facebook. yet these stations show artists like Ariana Grande, Becky G, etc. and they have less than 2 million hits on facebook. does anyone know where I'm going with this?
Still some of the cleanest metal vocals ive heard
No matter how many times I watch this, No matter how many comments i've read below this.. It's amazing how people can get all "preachy" in the comment section just cause they see a naked girl. Caleb and them trusted the producer with this video so it's not a big deal. Also, Beartooth is NOT a Christian band. They've said that themselves. Yes, Caleb believes in Jesus and so do the other members but they got together to just have fun. Can we do just that and just listen to the song without seeing a million comments of people offended because of some half naked woman. Listen to the song and stop whining. Before you begin to hit reply on my comment i don't mean this in a rude way and i don't mean this to be a smarty pants. I'm a Christian, I love Caleb's lyrics and also Anyone can understand Caleb. The man has a heart and a passion for music. He's got an amazing message. Shame that people would rather argue in a comment section than listen to the song.. and before you tell me "you idiot, you just added to the comments too. so you're no different". I'm posting this because I love beartooth, I've loved Calebs vocals, the bass tone in these songs are tremendous! and i found it dumb people don't know how to just enjoy music..
Deep lyrics, very deep.
I hope everyone knows that Caleb did 100% of everything on Disgusting- all instruments and vocals, Its 100% of his raw emotion. Amazing album.
I'm an Evangelist/Apologist, I've studied for +5 years on the topic of God and guess what? I became a Christian not an Atheist through the pursuit of knowledge. What I'm trying to point out is that if you think there is no evidence for God then I promised you that you have never looked. Anyways If you are a Christian/non and having doubt I will be there to help just contact me if you want. God bless.
Not disgusting, but close. Before the rest of them joined he made the ep Sick alone.
@@salcomella nope. You're wrong. He has done everything for every album
I think I like this song more than the sound they went with on their full-length. The guitars are just filthy.
Well, I can officially quit life, because Beartooth is COMING TO WARPED!
I am christian and every chance I get I blare this song in my car. I believe in God, I believe everyone has a story and sins throughout their life. I am on my own walk with Him, and we all are, we must not judge others for their choices in life, God says love all people and help all, no matter their sins. To many people these days care about what everyone else is doing, what they believe, weather they are gay or straight or transgender, muslim, christian...etc, that is their life, let them live it how they choose. Like this song, I can only be the voice of God, some will follow some will not.
I'm loving this EP. Definitely looking forward to a full release as soon as possible. I was rather upset when I found out AA broke up. I loved the vocals on This Means War and they're only getting better. I like this refreshing touch on a more classic hardcore sound. Good shit, I'll definitely be sharing with friends.
His vocals are getting better, I'm proud of Caleb
SOOOOO fuckin' good i punched my nephew!
dude punch the shit outta your niece too !
...... That sounds like a good idea, sir!
hit em' so hard you put death to shame !
Comment of the year goes to mike gibson
XDTheLaughingManXD And then let them listen to Beaten In Lips..
You guys he is saying he is religious and from that he is explaining that he wanted to be as "he wasn't force fed what he thinks" he chose his way! Now stop arguing about if the song is religious and just enjoy the music!
just found this, this is that shit!

When Caleb was in AA I instantly dismissed him as just another generic metal vocalist. But now... Holy fuck. His highs are insane, and I love his cleans.

This has got to be one of my favourite Beartooth songs.

Can't. Stop. Watching/Listening... So. GOOD!
"go be the voice of god go live your life putting kids to shame" this is all i hear
That fucking bass tone gives me chills in the second verse and in the bridge oh my god
Good move signing these dudes.
I saw this dude when he was in Attack Attack! God I am old.
Fucking brilliant song
Finally got around to listening to this band today and Jesus Christ what have I been missing? A+ you guys
What do you want in your music video?
" I want an alligator "
Laughs
Serious face " I want a fucking alligator "
I can't believe this doesn't have millions of views yet..
Every time the alligator comes up I hover the mouse over it to see the link and laugh. I'm so lame. Love you guys! Beartooth is the shit!
haha i heard this live before it even came out
beartooth live is truly chaos in the pits
I can attest to this, Beartooth and Blessthefall have the craziest pits Ive ever seen
what album/ep was this released on?
CheekyCroc143 It's off the "Sick" EP. Check out the Beartooth playlist for new videos and much more!

HOLY SHIT!

He screams with so much fucking feeling.
I'm pretty sure caleb is a guy bro lol not sure if that was a typo or what
HAHAHAHA, sorry man, i don´t know what happened there :a
all is good bro haha tis ok happens all the time
drake wertz If it happens all the time then was there any need in correcting him when we all knew what he meant?
This song is fucking great
One of their best songs, although unarguably the best band
Click on the alligator, that's funny.
Only discovered this band over a month ago.. where have I been!!
Scott Mills In a boring place
I really wish this song had made it on the album. I just reviewed their album "Disgusting" on my channel, I gave a PERFECT SCORE. First one of the year. Check it out and let me know what you thought!
ARTV Reviews ... it was for sick rather than disgusting, so why would they put it on their album??
DemoniK Pet because i have a problem is on bothe the sick ep and disgusting
Lerm im late asf on this but i have a problem was their most successful song on Sick so that's why it made it on the album also they changer it slightly for the album. And it wouldn't make sense to put multiple songs from Sick on the album because it would ruin the streams and sales of the EP
Sick. Fire. Dope. Whatever adjective you prefer... it describes this. Ghandi would be proud.
This slays
Remember listening to this song 5 years ago.. Never Forgot about it 🔥
Caleb: so this is a song about depression and childhood problems...
Redbull Recodrs: OK, we'll put crocodiles and girls to the music video!
That's an alligator my friend lol
ALWAYS STAND FOR SOMETHING. You may lose followers on earth but his glory is eternal. Great job
siiiiick
Love how he just threw his mic down at the very end.
+Denee Weathers "Fuck this, I don't need that"
If any of you narrow minded people follow the band on twitter you would have probably seen their tweet. "The woman signifies beauty. The alligator signifies power. Everything in the video represents contrast. Hence the black & white"
You nailed it!
I miss this Beartooth man
I miss them too.I didnt really like the new album.
3 years and i still dont know what the fuck is happening in this video
Same
+Trevor Ingram is there a meaning
This song has so awesome breakdowns
