Patience, the KEY to tank cycling, took time and a loss of a few shrimp to learn, I have no issue going 8 weeks or more to cycle now. Great video with good content and information! 👍

Maybe my favorite video you have put out this far. The question of not how, but why is something I think we all forgot from time to time

Nice sharing informative video always for Shrimp communities here. *Question: I have cycling my tank for about 1 month now, discovered green algae on glass & substrate with lots of Copepods swimming around. Water Test kit indicate zero Ammonia, Nitrate, so izi means tank is fully cycle? Thanks in adavnce~

In terms of hard value and soft value it appears so that the tank is fully cycled. Check for Nitrates again because Nitrates cannot be 0. We need to have nitrates as a byproduct from Ammonia. So when you have nitrate then do a 20-30% water change, then the cycle will be full. However, cycled tank can still give it some time to mature before adding shrimps, i would go 6 weeks.

    Great video, thanks!
I have one question, do you do any water changes during the cycling process? And if you do, how regularly and how much?
Once again, thanks for all your informative videos.

No water changes during cycling. Only after to remove nitrates.

excellent video shrimp sanctuary, what percentage of water do you normally change out weekly. I've heard so many different percentages that I'm not sure what is best. I have 10 gallon tanks that are well populated with shrimp mostly fancy tigers and crystals they normally take out one and a half gallons of water. and when I add back the remineralized water I drip it a few drips at a time with a special bucket that allows you to drip it back into the tank

Hi bene loved your video... I have been cycling my tank for 2mnts..
    0 ammonia
    0 nitrite
    10 nitrate
My question is... How much water change should i do after the tank is cycled?

Thank you for the video, it's very helpful! During the cycling process for the caridina tank, is it necessary to chill the water during the 40 day process?

Yes I'll cycle the tank with everything on. Probably first two weeks I will turn off the lights but chiller on. Reason for lights off is beneficial bacteria prefer to be in the dark hence it encourage the colonization of bacteria in the beginning.

After shrimp tank all set up if shrimp do not produce sufficient ammonia will bacteria die off?

    • @ShrimpSanctuary
      @ShrimpSanctuary  2 ปีที่แล้ว

If there are already beneficial bacteria they do not die off but remain dormant if conditions are not optimal.

So I’m right in saying you use no bacteria products for cycling? Do you use any at any other time? Thanks

Its optional and a faster way is seeding a filter. Hence I dont use any product while cycling.
