Salma Hayek in Desperado may be the hottest woman ever committed to film... Well, maybe tied with Salma Hayek in From Dusk to Dawn. Either way... Absolutely. Breathtaking.
WOW! I've seen The Desperado so many times, but hearing you describe it, I'm hearing the Desperado sound like an homage to Django (1966)! Both movies are Brilliant
In English class we had an assignment to write a story, I can't remember the criteria... One guy came in and the teacher asked him to read his out for the class. It turned out to be a transcript of the whole opening scene with Steve Buscemi. The teacher had obviously never seen the movie, because she gave him an A+ for the story. Desperado is a great action movie, definitely one of the best from a period rife with movies and stars.
I had just moved to the states for work and this was the first movie I saw at a multiplex El Mariachi was ok Once Upon a time was terrible Desperado was and is brilliant
I went to see this one at the theater on a double date. When Salma appeared on screen, both me and my friend got a good punch in the arm from our dates as we tried to pick our jaws off the ground. 😍 And since the movie was such a fun rollercoaster ride, it really does keep that energy from start to finish. And it was certainly a great homage to John Woo's over the top gun ballet action. One of my favorites of all time! Our friends did a parody of this movie among others. th-cam.com/video/egJefiBaisY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=nf1iAhmA_X04FaLt
The first time I ever saw this film - on HBO in the early 90s - I came away thinking, "Those two have the potential to be HUGE stars." I'm gratified that I was right; they're now some of the best-known actors in the business.
Desperado is awesome! It's sequel, (the third movie with Depp), is not so good from what I remember watching in theaters. Maybe I need to watch it again?
I rented this the day it was released on VHS. Watched and fell in love! Told my dad to watch it, he became a fan! A 90's take on the spaghetti western! Fantastic! And I'm still in love with Selma!
Loved this film when growing up. It was the embodiment of cool. A bit silly, but cool. I picked up knife throwing, because of it and practiced for years, to be as good as Danny Trejo's character. All because of this stupidly magnificent film. Wanted to play guitar because of Banderas. Anything that was cool about the movie - I wanted it. And hey! I can now throw knives, play guitar and I work in film! So, all of those childhood delusions actually amounted to something good!
good action in a modern wild west setting , good story and good humor and it put a lot of good character actors to work and for many seeing a new director make his big $$$$ debut worth it
This movie, a timeless classic as it is, kinda scarred me as a kid (yes I saw Desperado as a kid). It was the first time I saw a woman get killed, main characters die and death of a kid and an adult scene) no movie has done it better since, imo.
The reason why the movie is great is because of a great cast like Antonio banderas, Salma Hayek, Joaquim de Almedia, Steve buscemi, Danny Trejo, Cheech Marin, and Robert Rodriguez writing and directing this action classic. Plus this and assassins both with Antonio Banderas in 1995 were great action movies.
I loved Desperado. Antonia Banderas was so cool and Selma Hayek was gorgeous. I didn't know about El Mariachi or the third movie. I'll have to check those out.
Such an awesome movie, and the first R-rated movie I ever saw. The gunplay was fun and frenetic, and damn it if I didn't have a crush on Salma Hayek after this movie.
Althought character differences between El Mariachi in the furst and 2nd film could be written off as lazy writing, or an accurate assumption that American viewers haven't seen the foreign film preceeding it and thus could do what they want. Another theory bssed information in the second film, el mariachi has become a seasoned ruthless killer of drug dealers. "Try to not make it a bloodbath." "That wasnt my fault. They started it." And somewhere in the past between the first and second movie, El had some serious shit go down with Kino and Campo. "Bring your guitars," clearly there was violence.
Desperado is amazing...Antonio Banderas is fantastic... Salma Hayek is stunning... Cheech Marin is unforgettable... Steve Buscemi is hilarious...Danny Trejo is Machete... I adore this movie... So damn great...
I actually watched this movie for the first time last Saturday with my wife. It's corny but entertaining as all hell and it hit in all the right spots.
Words can't express how different entertainment was back then. We 80s babies grew up with absolute bangers of all genres.
Salma Hayek has certainly stood the test of time that’s for sure….
💯
She has!
Exactly what I was gonna say
AGREED.She's still-GORGEOUS-and-SEXY.
Like a fine wine
Desperado was a favorite of mine in high school. Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek were awesome. The guitar case fight in the street was fantastic.
And to think they'd be Puss and Kitty....
I love the scene with Salma Hayek walking across the street with the distracted drivers crashing into each other. 😎
Desperado is such a fun film.
I was definitely not old enough to see this movie in theaters, but i did... and it was awesome...
The chemistry between the lead pair was bomb.
I remember being like WTF when he brought in his friends and then they got killed off right away.
I as going to post the exact same thing!
Salma Hayek in Desperado may be the hottest woman ever committed to film... Well, maybe tied with Salma Hayek in From Dusk to Dawn. Either way... Absolutely. Breathtaking.
Truly. 95-96 Hayek was perfection.
I can see why every keeps shipping Antonio and Salma even in real life....
Antonio Banderas' and Selma Hayak's chemistry continued in both Puss in Boots films. The actor playing Bucho is also in Behind Enemy Lines and Shogun
This trilogy is amazing. Fell in love with Hayek and love some of the camera tricks they did for El Mariachi
6:18 Had to grab my phone in my pocket, rewind this part, and actually watch what was on screen to get context. 😂
Mexico Trilogy is an awesome fun! The third one Once Upon a Time in Mexico is underrated, it's great, but Desperado is an action masterpiece 😁🤩🥰

RR is a genius when it comes to action.
I had just moved to the states for work and this was the first movie I saw at a multiplex
El Mariachi was ok
Once Upon a time was terrible
Desperado was and is brilliant
I think you should have mentioned that this film had a great soundtrack as well. As did From Dusk Til Dawn.
Salma is why we keep going back to THAT movie
Thank You for Putting That Thumbnail.

Really enjoyed this film! And this recap!
A classic movie from the 90’s.
man I wish Rodriquez would release the extended ending
Absolute classic
Desperado is in the Top 10 COOLEST Movies of all time for sure!
Salma Hayek is a Goddess! Robert Rodriguez was someone that inspired us.
I recognize Joaquin De Almeda from Atlas Shrugged as the mine operator who doesn't get any dirt on his clothes.
Pure action Masterpiece!!Totally stands the Test of time! And I'll even bet $300 dollars on it. 😸🍺
I literally re-watched this a couple weeks ago.
How did you like it ????
@@kerry-j4m loved it just like the first time
It’s funny you say a video game like shoot em up because it did inspire one of my favorite GTA clones called total overdose 😂
The first time I ever saw this film - on HBO in the early 90s - I came away thinking, "Those two have the potential to be HUGE stars." I'm gratified that I was right; they're now some of the best-known actors in the business.
It's a fun action flick, plain and simple! 👍🏽💪🏽
One of my favourite movie
Desperado is awesome! It's sequel, (the third movie with Depp), is not so good from what I remember watching in theaters. Maybe I need to watch it again?
Such a great flick. Everything just works. Still Robert Rodriguez's best film.
I rented this the day it was released on VHS. Watched and fell in love! Told my dad to watch it, he became a fan! A 90's take on the spaghetti western! Fantastic! And I'm still in love with Selma!

This movie was just as good as the specialist with Sylvester Stallone and Sharon Stone and Leon the professional a year before.

Wrist holsters 🔥🔥⚡
It's a Taco Western Sergio Leone would have loved.
5:20
Tito getting killed to his own song is so badass
Still one of my favorite action movies.
👍👍👍🎥
Would love to fit this film in the world of John Wick
I loved Desperado. Antonia Banderas was so cool and Selma Hayek was gorgeous.
I didn't know about El Mariachi or the third movie. I'll have to check those out.
Salma Hayek.
Let’s see
I mean… play
The soundtrack is worth the watch alone.

I saw El Mariachi when it came out in September of 1992 and decided to make my own film the same year, but ran out of money
I actually watched this movie for the first time last Saturday with my wife. It's corny but entertaining as all hell and it hit in all the right spots.
6:07 here is one of the big reasons
You know a movie is good when you actually buy it and don’t watch it for free.
👍😄
Cool guys don’t look at explosions.
Remind me later
2 reasons...
Great, great movie but the third one was a letdown.
It doesn’t really stand the test of time at all - it’s a pretty shallow John Woo knockoff and the ending sucks. El Mariachi is waaaaaaaaay better.
Came out before John Wick
