This run was a blast! I'm really glad we were able to get revenge on this for so many people during this event, and I'm flattered that people enjoyed the run. Thanks for supporting the event! I just want to give credit once again to the TH-cam channel that taught me some tricks that made this run possible. In this video, I misspoke and and didn't get to finish my thought, but the correct user is Kandoken. Giving credit is very important to me and my only regret in this run is that I wasn't able to properly thank him/her. :D
That's PJ for ya.. he played Battle Block Theater with Mecha Richter last AGDQ or so (don't know the exact year); but it was hilarious. You should definitely watch his other speedruns.
Yeah, PJ is very entertaining. And in this game it is even better with Klaige. - They are like an old cute couple babbling about the past an arguing a lot.
My favorite run from SGDQ 2016 was Pepsiman, and so far, this one is my favorite for AGDQ 2017. I love the awful games block. It's really fun and engaging. Those guys' commentary was perfect too.
I remember playing this with a friend. In 15 years we couldn't figure out what to do in the circus. We got past it once just completely at random without knowing what we did different that time. Good to see it get beaten at least once in my life.
I think basically anyone knew somebody who bought this thing when it came out. Which means that anyone got to rent it because nobody wanted to play this POS more than 2 hours. Great job on the commentary! Watching this is definitely a lot more fun than playing yourself.
I just now saw your comment! Thanks so much for your videos! After rewatching this later, I realized I misspoke and tried to fix it in the comment section here, but the damage was done. :'( You might also be interested to hear that I managed a single-segment 100% run of this game! Well....to the best of my knowledge it is 100%. The totals don't add up properly, but I did the best I could to confirm. :P
Not _necessarily_ badly programmed (now with this game I wouldn't be surprised if it was), but programmed using compression methods to squeeze in all the graphic, sound, etc. assets onto the limited cartridge space. Decompressing those assets is what takes the time - loading them off the cartridge first is fast, as always with cartridge games.
All the SNES games I've played that had load times (Out of This World, Toy Story, Batman Forever) were ports of Genesis games. I think it probably had something to do with porting issues more than anything.
The "catchy music" starting 44:04 is totally just a Mario World haunted house remix! And the following Riddler stage sounds an awful lot like the SMW koopa palace music, don't ya think?
Oh my word this game. I am glad to know other kids were as stuck as me. I rented this which was a big deal for me because i only got to rent games once every 2-3 months and i literally did not get out of the first level because i just had no idea what the hell to do. I did not play fighting games and i was only like 9 so input commands were not a thing that existed to me.
@@abstractdaddy1384 The manual gives you the inputs, but doesn't explain how you're supposed to do the inputs, go back to neutral, then hit the button. The game is very strict about this and not even sliding or negative edge works, so any fighting game experience you have gets tossed right out the window.
this was quite entertaining, even though there wasn't that much proper commentary, just the bickering between the runners was really funny. it may have been a bad game, but at least fun to watch ^_^
Didn't know you could slide down those ropes in the circus level. Learnin' tech all these years later... I'll admit I have a soft spot for this game and it's jank. I had it as a kid and persevered with it, got to the train level without cheats. Beat it with. I think it's a fun idea for a movie licensed game- just poorly executed.
I feel like the Sega Genesis version was slightly better. No loading screens, and the main game UI was a little more minimalist which was nice. Plus I feel like the music was a little better. I mean, it was still an abomination control wise and almost impossible to play, but I feel like it was SLIGHTLY better. Also, theres a secret in the elevator stage, if you fire your grapnel up when you are on top of the elevator, I think it gives you an extra life or a full heal (the powerups were never really clear on what they did....)
The coins are a 50/50. You get an extra life when you pick them up no matter what, but whether you get a full heal or not depends on which head of the coin is facing the screen when you grab it. If it's the scratched side you only get the life, and if you get the clean side you get the life and full heal.
I hhhaaatted this game! I too could not get past the second screen. Took me 'Forever' to figure out what to do, where to go, and how. I rented the game as a kid. Figured I was good at games then, though simply could not figure this game out. By the time I knew what I had to (grapple up at a certain point to the next floor), I had to return the game before late charges. Hhhaaatted this game! (Oh, and the controls were worse than the actual movie itself! Yes, that bad!)
Yeah that's the version I played as a kid, didn't remember loading screens and I even liked it. That might just be due to me not having any other games at the time, though
It looks like developers when making this game, noticed how bad it is, and they didn't want to work on this game anymore so they've just released beta version.
Cool not played this game in the last 10 yrs : fr the runners, why dont you use the rocket boots that should kill some more frames and save some time ;) or is it only in the SEGA MegaDrive version (btw the SEGA version is lot smoother and has better controls)
Rocket boots are an unlock and do nothing in this version. They do no damage, are slower than simply walking forward, and you're vulnerable for the entire animation. :P
Injustice0.1 for SNES looks good. On that note, anyone ever feel like the games they play, do like what this one does, with unfairly incrementing difficulty for each attempt, successful or not, as long as the console's on? Driver2, Street Fighter's AI, all you do is incrementally worse and worse...
Street Fighter's AI is actually fair in how it knows how to play to each character's strengths and punish you for making mistakes. It does have holes though, like how World Warrior Sagat will always open with the high-low zoning Tiger Spam and leave himself open to jump roundhouse if you're aggressive and jump forward over the tiger shots. If you just jump when he's not Tiger Spamming though he DPs you out of the air every time.

The players' commentary was awesome. They keep the gameplay hilarious and engaging.

Yeah, PJ is very entertaining. And in this game it is even better with Klaige. - They are like an old cute couple babbling about the past an arguing a lot.
Zalozis accurate... accurate.
alex r. g. PJ and Feasel are two of the most versatile runners i think.
The runners occasionally trying to beat each other up is probably the purest true co-op experience I've ever seen~
pj and klaige: always great commentary and great speedruns, super fun to watch, hopefully we'll see more of them next time
I agree with you.
Batman's weakness: Chainsaw to the dick
Batman's nemesis: Nacho Kid
"I assume this needs no commentary."
Hold on, Batman
This run was more fun than I ever had actually playing the game.
PJ never lacks extremely entertaining commentary! I love PJ and hope to see him in lots more runs!!
My favorite run from SGDQ 2016 was Pepsiman, and so far, this one is my favorite for AGDQ 2017.
I love the awful games block. It's really fun and engaging. Those guys' commentary was perfect too.
You may want to check out the colour a dinosaur speedrun by pj. You might just enjoy it.
hinro Thanks for the recommandation ! I'll definitly check it out. Especially if it's by PJ too.
Batman Forever. It sucked back then, and it sucks forever ~AVGN
:D :D
PJ never disappoints

Comedic timing at its best in this commentary.
One of the most entertaining runs of the event, these guys are hilarious!
Fun fact: The stage with the bomb has you saving Robin's parents. I'm not even kidding...
Seeing a Let’s Play on it was funny, since they harp on that, constanty.
DJ Oshawott) was it the SGB one?
@@johnnyweissmuller5559 Yeah, it was.

Great job on the commentary! Watching this is definitely a lot more fun than playing yourself.
That Blazing Saddles reference, bravo
45:03 Who's Kankudon? LOL You guys did great, I'd love to join up with you guys if ever you decide to do another Batman Forever run. This game's great

How badly programmed did a SNES game have to be to have *loading times*?
Blarghalt sadly, this is not the worst. Toy Story SNES goes for up to 15 seconds.
To be fair, Toy Story SNES was pulling some serious technological voodoo to make itself work.
Not _necessarily_ badly programmed (now with this game I wouldn't be surprised if it was), but programmed using compression methods to squeeze in all the graphic, sound, etc. assets onto the limited cartridge space. Probably very lazily programmed.
Every two enemies, no matter where you start, make a great duo name for a radio morning show.
I was in tears laughing my ass off for half this run last night. PJ and Klaige MVPs #HOLDON
Very entertaining Duo. They should do more together.
#HOLDON
47:22 The only moment you need to see.
OUCH! 😫
Best special move in the entire game.
Big Riddle is where Rocksteady got the ending for Arkham Asylum.
Believe it or not, Big Riddle was from a deleted scene from the movie.
These guys do a great job. They're having a fun time with this aweful game. Good video.
The "catchy music" starting 44:04 is totally just a Mario World haunted house remix! And the following Riddler stage sounds an awful lot like the SMW koopa palace music, don't ya think?
Watching you guys kick this game's ass is a balm on the pain of my childhood.
That security guard doing Hulk Hogan after you free them is pretty special.
I owned this on Megadrive and it is genuinely one of the worst games I played as a kid. They actually make it look kind of fun though.
wow .. thanks for doing this run man .. closure .. FINALLY!
The "Batdoken" got too unnoticed.
Really fun playthrough. Btw, does this make anyone else wanna rewatch the AVGN review of BF? Seriously, it's one of my favorite Nerd review EVER.
That grappling animation always cracks me up
Wonderful back and forth between PJ and Klaige. Great run!
I enjoy this run a lot, thanks!
The artist who made the awesome gadget select menu was not aware of what the rest of the game was going to look like.
TEAM PLC IS THE BEST THING IN SPEEDRUNNING. CAPITAL LETTERS.
Haha, I had no idea this game was built on top of the MK2 engine. That makes so much sense.
this game. had it as a kid on genesis. never have i seen the helicopter or anything past it.
Run start 12:16
Awesome. Really sad there’s no PJ, Mecha Richter, authorblues, dragondarch or Omnigamer on the 2018 SGDQ schedule.
Thanx for uploading this
Loved the commentary guys. You madw a terrible game, fun to watch!
I love these two :DD
Oh my word this game.

I've owned this game since launch and I could not figure out how to use the gadgets until I stumbled upon this video just now.
You never read the manual?
@@abstractdaddy1384 The manual gives you the inputs, but doesn't explain how you're supposed to do the inputs, go back to neutral, then hit the button. great job guys
By far, the most entertaining playthrough I've ever watched. Makes up for the game being terrible.
after like 2 months my friend and I somehow managed to get to level 4. I don't even remember how we figured it out but this game fucks hard
This game brings back so many memories. Even used the strategy guide to figure out the cheat code riddle L-U-L-L-A-B-Y
this was quite entertaining, even though there wasn't that much proper commentary, just the bickering between the runners was really funny. it may have been a bad game, but at least fun to watch ^_^
makes perfect sense why i never beat this game as a kid
47:24 "Oooohhhh... Chainsaw to the dick!"
This is a game I’d be interested to know how it ended up like it did
Didn't know you could slide down those ropes in the circus level. Learnin' tech all these years later...

Watching this makes you want to shit on this game and flush it down a toilet
Team poor life choices FTW!!! Lol love you Pj XD
Oh god, I've been waiting for this since Bionic Commando 1 & 2.
#poorlifechoices
I'm surprised this game doesn't corrupt itself as you play.
The halft of this speedrun is “Loading screen & hold on”
I feel like the Sega Genesis version was slightly better. No loading screens, and the main game UI was a little more minimalist which was nice. Plus I feel like the music was a little better. That's when I discovered where they got the idea for the final boss in arkham asylum
Fighting Clones of Mick Foley and Jim Sterling: The Game.
Really? It took me about 30 mins to figure out how to jump down to a level below
hilarious run! gj
Why is the volume so low on these GDQ videos?
I hhhaaatted this game! I too could not get past the second screen. Took me 'Forever' to figure out what to do, where to go, and how. I rented the game as a kid. Great ending
I still have this game. I love it.
I wonder why they dont play the genesis version, which is smoother and had faster loading times
Yeah that's the version I played as a kid, didn't remember loading screens and I even liked it. That might just be due to me not having any other games at the time, though
Because it's a different game.
not having slowdowns and less loading times makes a game different?
11:16
Funniest run of the whole event
Great run, lots of fun! You should try running the Game Gear version
How would they capture that besides using emulation?
Did anyone get stuck on the safe level and just give up???
Dude, I love team PLC.
Words do not describe how bad this game is. Cool to see it played through. These guys are two of probably like 12 people who have done this.
It makes you wonder if this horrible game was even playtested.
When I was a kid I had it... I thought I was bad at it 😂😂😂
Hearing them talk about how difficult this game is makes me proud that I made it all the way to level 7 when I was a kid.
and yet, SOMEHOW, this game is still so much better than mythologies sub-zero, it makes you wonder WHY IT EXIST?
2 Legends, i miss YSG inputs tho...
I use to play this on hardest settings it was easy, but now probably not ha!
Batman Forever (Roll)
I've noticed PJ does a lot of stuff in the awful games done quick block. He must really hate fun XD
PJ has really weird taste. He loves Bionic Commando ReArmed 2 despite how jank it is, but Hype Mode makes everything entertaining.
Who is the host?
They should've played the Genesis version instead. No loading screens.
11:21 game start.
It looks like developers when making this game, noticed how bad it is, and they didn't want to work on this game anymore so they've just released beta version.
didnt know batman was in mortal kombat lol
Batman/Sonic/Mortal Kombat! LOL
Friend had this game when we were young. We never got passed stage 2 XD
Why this one and not the Genesis one? You'd think the lack of Sega's loading times would improve on the time?
probably lack of buttons and not knowing the gadget inputs for Genesis.
These guys deserve medals doing a speedrun kf that shitty game
Cool not played this game in the last 10 yrs : fr the runners, why dont you use the rocket boots that should kill some more frames and save some time ;) or is it only in the SEGA MegaDrive version (btw the SEGA version is lot smoother and has better controls)

Dude sounds like Seth macfarlene.
I hate this game, thank you for beating it.
Batman Forever - realey terrible and very very hard game. But this walkthrough - super very impressive!
this fuckin game. i never found the exit on the circus level as a kid. finally i see the the rest of the game. and its just as shity as the beginning.
I've seen some bad games, but this could potentially be the worst.
