@@krislove1167 Yes, you are right, I just found that out. I wrongly assumed that it was filmed at Eton. It was filmed at Oxford University ,and Altrop House (The Spencer family home) which explains why Earl Spencer was in it as an Extra.
Oooh, another "beautiful gay boys in upper-crusty English schools" movie from the 1980s! I thought "Maurice" was the only one! I'm going to have to take a gander at this one. Love it when the English get to doing gay-themed movies. Of the gay-male-love genre, the best film I've ever seen from anywhere in the world--and that includes America, Latin America and China--was "God's Own Country." English, but definitely not upper-crusty. It takes place in that least upper-crusty of places in the English imagination--the Yorkshire Dales. It was such a moving, beautiful film. The beaten-down, handsome farm bloke, the gorgeous Romanian farmhand who rescues him in such a lovely way. Sigh...
O my god... I wasn't really out of the pain Maurice inflicted on me and now I would have to see this... Why 😭 god why ... Btw I just can't watch Maurice again... It moved to to my core... It had such an impact on me ... These vintage movies have a sense of sincerity and a kind of old school romance which is worth die for.
Thank you for the suggestion! Just came off watching this and Maurice and cannot explain more how much I am adoring these two movies and this whole upper-crusty english school gay shit, really fascinating to see movies on this topic from the 80s. Will check out the movie you suggested!
What are you talking about? China did not make LGBTQ films back then. China just recent has become bold enough to make their own BL aka Boys Love. Perhaps, the Asian film you watched was from Taiwan. The Asian countries that were brave enough to make LGBTQ films were Japan, Taiwan and Thailand. Mostly, it's Japan. Afterall, Japan was the first country that made Boys Love themed comics in the world, and has been producing BL and LGBTQ shows
Una pelicula que me removió las entrañas. En cuanto oigo notas de su banda sonora, me emociono. Y el gran descubrimiento de Colun Firth y el gran, gran Rupert Everett
I saw this play in London i 1982 with Rupert Everett, on whom I had a massive crush. I had the poster from this play on my teenage girl walls forever after. I hope seeing the movie doesn't destroy that fond memory.
Amazing movie, Rupert Everett, Colin Flirth and Cary Elwes were Great in it. Just watching it again on another Platform. Really my favorite as for "Maurice" and "Brideshead revisited" (1981) with Jérémy Irons. The reference to the Cambridge five and Guy de Moncy Burgess story, Old Etonian and KGB Spy, didn't catch the attention of "spy movie fan-base". Much better for "Maurice" and E.M.Forster admirers.
La méga classe. Très beau film, belle musique, décors et acteurs très beaux et raffinés.. Un film très esthétique malgré la psychorigidite de ces colleges anglais et l intolerance.
Beautiful film, magnificent locations... Of course I saw it in the cinema when it came out in 1984 Rupert plays Guy Bennet inspired by Guy Burgess one of the 5 Cambridge Spies
@@jochenstossberg5427 I’m not sure you could call him unimportant to the plot. Up until that point Guy had had physical sex with a lot of boys but James he absolutely fell head over heels with and this made him realise he was homosexual ( not just going through a phase) This was the catalyst that cemented his notion of himself as an outsider and his life’s trajectory to Russia developed as a result.

The building looks like in Maurice.
The building is Eton College.

OMG I was gonna say that
I was about to say it too!
One of my favorite movies in high school. Such wonderful acting and yes, handsome young Brits!!

Colin firth is so handsome in this film.
And what about Rupert Everett? He is looking so handsome here
@@architapal8021 they are both gorgeous
Why his young in this movie looks like Robert Pattinson

Cary Elwes. OMG! ❤
I remember going to see this at the Odeon in 1984 and instantly fell in love with Rupert.

this is sooo much better than cmbyn. anything is better than cmbyn tbh
obi wan cmbyn is pretty good actually but it’s a little bit overrated i love it tho
Summer at the Longhouse Another Country is from 84, Maurice from 87. Both are great films though

Dreadful trailer. Great film, featuring the gorgeous and very young Cary Elwes, Colin Firth and Rupert Everett.
this movie was eye candy
Rupert Everett...grand acteur
Il n'a pas eu la carrière qu'il méritait...parfois la franchise ne paye pas....

Carey Elwes seems to be pushed out of the limelight in this movie, and yet he is a great actor.
He played a side character, who in the end isn't important to the plot.

Rupert was so beautiful
Lucas Hedges kinda looks like a young Colin Firth.
Rupert Everett here looks a lot like Timothee Chalamet in Prodigal Son!
the fact that this movie has no fandom is homophobic

I say!
Colin Firth looks like Martyn Iles, the Australian Christian theologian.
I love romantic comedies...

the end was way cryptic in this age of AI, dribble and IG where
Just a year later...James became The Man in Black.
かっこいい🩷世界一ハンサム😎
Dylan Dog......
Cute... But rubbish when compared to Brideshead.

Lets celebrate a traitor and defector: Make a movie about his life! Oh yes, very British indeed!!!!
It’s an observation not a celebration. How on Earth do you conclude that treachery is being ‘celebrated’ ?
