    Cool! Liebherr uses upside down boom cylenders on their larger excavators.

    It doesn't matter which way the cylinders are mounted if you reverse the oil supply hoses. The Euros seem to like this better for some reason that I don't know. May be it has to do with how fast the oil is released from the hyd cylinder when you drop the boom.

    Why would the lift cylinders be up side down? what motor would be in there, unless you already mentioned it. Nice video Todd.

    YES the pilot valves for the controls were ahead of their time , but it is funny that they use the old school glow plug indicator in the cab.
    I am assuming this was some sort of logging machine , or at least modified it in its old age as one ?

      Sarief Idoe yeak my grandpa had one it was missing one tread so the way he moved the thing was so funny ☺ the first time i saw that thing was when a hitachi came in to clear the bushes then my grandpa volunteered to speed things up
      it was so satisfying to see a modern excavator working with a much older excavator

    psi x area = force. you don't have the same area on both sides of the cylinder. you must subtract the area of the cylinder rod as the oil can not push on that.

    the power is the same. only change the speed of filling the cylinder.

    no it cant-be the area is diffident size in witch the presser is acting on

    @tractortom401 chances of a dealer taking a poclain on trade is near none

  • @enterBJ40

    but still has the same pressure...so the power remain the same.

    What did they use for engine power?

    • @skadill
      @skadill  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pretty certain most of the Poclains ran Duetz air cooled engines

      Some had ford. Which was part of the richier deal. Some had perkins and apparently a few had rolls Royce. But 9 times out of 10 it's going to be deutz. The poclain 1000. Had two v 12 deutz engines. Or v 12 Cummings option. And there was electric option but no one wanted them

  • @mog5858
    @mog5858 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @WesternStar4900SA having the cyls upside down you have the full area of the piston to lift. When you on the rod side you must subtract the area of the cyls rod out so you will have a little less power dose that make any sence
